Then, there was Tatsumi’s own conscious effort not to change his expression much.
“Well, you know, s.h.i.+mura-chan. That’s only lately. When Konno-san was first hired, he never smiled, so he was difficult to approach.”
“&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;really?”
It was the fist time he had heard that about himself as well, so Tatsumi was surprised.
“But, I suppose&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;that’s true. The reason I wouldn’t express myself much was because I tried to only choose the good emotions to show, that’s why whenever I inadvertently felt something bad, I tried not to show it.”
Since I can’t see, I’m more conscious of it, he added, but s.h.i.+mura spoke out.
“Why?”
“We can see, but we can’t see our own faces. That’s why I don’t think it has anything to do with being able to see or not.”
“Hmm&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;but, when you can see, and maybe it’s subconscious, you work aware you’re being watched. Since I’m blind, I’m often not aware people are watching me. For instance, since a person on the phone can’t see you, if you’re pretty upset at them, it’ll show on your face, right?”
Working at a call center, it probably happened to everyone. The three of them responded in a way that seemed to say, aah, I kind of get it.
