v4c70p2 A New Member Enters The Fray!

The female priest, adorned in a white flaxen priest robe, took two steps forward in her bare feet. She picked up the oak staff in her hands and lightly tapped twice on the ground. A green-gray tinted wall of light whooshed up between the demonic spirits and everyone else.

“Master Planeswalker, I can only maintain this wall for 5 seconds.” Pahimila reminded him, “I wish I had more of my powers, but I can only maintain it as a three ring level spell.”

“That’s enough, but it’s too far away.” Brendel answered and then immediately said to the others, “s.h.i.+eld of Rock can block any non-physical attack, But creatures of order can pa.s.s freely through this wall – everyone cross through it immediately and attack the outermost circle of demonic spirits. Just do some damage, no killing. Pahimla, prepare for the next round of walls. Keep it between us and the demonic spirits again.”

The moment he fell silent, the demonic spirits’ next round of spells struck the s.h.i.+eld of Rock, as if to prove him right. The black flames exploded against the wall of light and turned into b.a.l.l.s of dazzling light.

Maynild, Laurenna, and the others already understood Brendel’s tactic. As soon as their opponents’ spells ended, they immediately crossed through the green wall of light and cut into the demonic spirits formation. But this time the female knight from Kirrlutz learned her lesson. Most of the time, she would slice off a demonic spirits’ arm with a single swing of her sword and then use a wind blade to blow it away.

The guards followed closely behind and copied her actions. Technically, the demonic spirits were more powerful than these knights. But since Pahimila’s s.h.i.+eld of Rock was practically pressed up against these demonic spirits, as soon as the knights burst through the wall of light, they were within striking range of the demonic spirits.

Without the ability to strike from afar, the demonic spirits’ close combat abilities were laughably weak and didn’t stand a chance against expert fighters of the Platinum Rank. Oftentimes the knights Brendel brought along would force them back with a single strike; what frustrated Brendel was that the knights weren’t as precise as Laurenna or Maynild. The occasional ring of black light exploded in the forest and everyone’s power decreased again and again.

“Unfortunately geniuses like Laurenna or Maynild are too few and too far in between. Had I known, I would have kept Bennett.” Brendel had to shake his head. He had one hand on the pommel of his sword and was prepared to enter the fray the moment the frontline couldn’t sustain itself.

But miraculously, once the guards’ powers decreased drastically, the demonic spirits became harder to kill. All of a sudden, the fight became easier.

Upon seeing this, Brendel let out a small sigh of relief.

The pale white humanoid figures let out silent screams of vexation while they retreated. But oftentimes they would retreat a distance and prepare to strike again, only to find another green wall of light descending in front of them.

The knights cheered at this sight. They couldn’t believe how their leader had thought of this strange tactic in such a short time, but n.o.body disliked a one-sided victory.

Out of everyone, only Brendel and Pahimila frowned.

“How much magic have you used?” Brendel asked in his mind.

“I have already cast s.h.i.+eld of Stone a total of seven times and used up 161 elemental points.” The young female priest answered.

Brendel pursed his lips. The number more or less aligned with what he calculated. In the Amber Sword, first ring order spells took 5 EPs, a second ring spell took 10 EP, and third ring spells increased to 20 EP, so on and so forth. In actuality, the real expenditure was calculated based on the caster’s actual stats. So non-players could roughly estimate how much a spell would cost.

In truth, when Ciel, Medissa, and Pahimila became Planeswalker creatures, he could see an interface just like a player’s when he examined the detailed stats of their cards. Pahimila’s base stats were: 1.5 power, 2.5 dexterity, 1.5 strength, 2.1 wisdom, 4.2 willpower, 2.2 perception, 4.0 bloodline, with a base EP of 100. When she became level 30, willpower and bloodline increased to 47.7 and 102.4, respectively. Her EP pool was likewise expanded to 300 points.

This meant that, bar any accidents, she could cast the spell another six times, give or take.

Even if she timed the gap between the demonic spirits’ attacks perfectly, this would win them another minute at most. Frankly, Brendel thought Pahimila was far from being able to calculate the timing with such precision.

This team was very far from what he wanted. In the game, the “Crystal Apple” guild had figured out this tactic. But the actual technique wasn’t quite like this; instead, it required the team members to simultaneously kill multiple demonic spirits and then have the Mountain Priest or Holy Priest cast

Clearly neither the knights nor Pahimila could calculate with such precision, so he was forced to think of a compromise.

But a minute was enough.

Brendel took one last look at the frontline, where a fierce battle was waging, and then he turned around. Some of the scattered demonic spirits have circled around the defense line to arrive at their flank. But Freya and Medissa were over there and Brendel didn’t feel the need to worry right then.

But he glanced over and suddenly grabbed the air with his hands. The time and s.p.a.ce elemental immediately activated and swallowed a wandering ball of demonic spirit in the distance without giving them time to react. In a second, it appeared not far from him.

That had been a spirit of a female elf mage. When she was alive, she could have been called beautiful. But now she had been turned into a mindless sh.e.l.l of herself. This demonic spirit had been forcefully captured and moved to its current location by Brendel’s elemental powers. It still looked puzzled at the development, but Brendel had already taken out a magic crystal from his pocket. The strong scent of magic wafting out from the crystal immediately attracted this monster and she turned around.

In that second, the hunter girl Peja and the little prince screamed from where they were sitting on top of the wolf.

The female elf mage stared wide-eyed at them, but there was no white in her eyes, just a pitch black darkness like a ghost’s eyes. Her mouth, opening and closing, was also filled with black smoke. Her entire body was like a puppet filled with dark magic. Her horrifying looks looked peculiarly beautiful coupled with the near perfect curves of her naked top half.

“Haruz.”

“Tea-teacher?”

“Here’s a present for you.” Brendel suddenly yanked open the collar at the little prince Haruz’s back and tossed the magic crystal inside. The ice cold crystal made the beautiful youth s.h.i.+ver and his face turned even whiter.

“Ahhhh—!” He screamed.

But before his brief scream could come to a natural end, it ended in abrupt silence because that pair of black eyes staring intently at him.

The future king of Aouine froze in fear — “Brendel, what are you doing?” Freya turned around just in time to see this.

“Te-teacher?” Haruz asked shakily.

Brendel didn’t answer them. He smiled slightly and took out a s.h.i.+mmering Magic Sword that he had already prepared from the Dimension s.p.a.ce. Then he tossed it besides the prince and said, “This sword is called ‘Hilke’s Loyalty I’. Take it up and go vanquish that demonic spirit.”

The little prince was completely stunned and looked at him pitifully.

“Go!” Brendel commanded him sternly. “If you don’t kill her, she will kill you.”

The little prince shook at Brendel’s scolding. Only then did he shakily pick up the sword on the ground — though it was clearly a bit too heavy for him. He had to use both hands to barely grasp the sword; the blade dragged onto the ground unbecomingly. His face turned red and he looked about to cry.

But he sniffled hard and turned shakily in the direction of the demonic spirit.

Brendel looked at how delicate and weak the prince was acting and thought he was like a damsel in distress.

He looked up and found the demonic spirit about to be within the 140 yard range. In fact, Brendel could already see it raise its stick-thin arms.

He shook his head and decided to give Haruz some help.

In the next second, the little prince suddenly vanished. When he reappeared, it was in front of the demonic spirit. At that moment, both Harzu and the demonic spirit jumped in fear. The prince did so because of the shock of seeing the demonic spirit suddenly appear in front of him. The demonic spirit froze in fear at the unexpected appearance of its prey within close combat range.

They both stood open-mouthed and stared at each other wide-eyed.

“Haruz,” Brendel reminded him, “if you don’t take care of it in the next five minutes, the next time we see Mikailasio, I’ll make you change into girl’s clothing –”

“Girl’s clothing?” Peja, who had been watching in stunned silence off to the side, seemed to react to this. “Wait, who’s Hilke?” She seemed to be very interested in the magic sword.

“A knight. According to the legends, a dragon-riding mage killed his fiancee and his entire family. In order to take revenge, he developed an entire series of tactics specifically against mages. Though the set of battle craft has been lost, his sword remained. This is the famous Enemy of the Mages.” Brendel answered.

“I think I heard my father tell this story…” Peja blinked her dark eyes. “But why is the word called Hilke’s Loyalty I?”

“Because I made 10 of them.”

Brendel answered simply.
