Chapter 9     Shamanism

Inside the holding cell, Jiang Han shook his head. If he refuse to listen, there was nothing he could do about it. If there was anything to blame, then it would only be that his ability to persuade others were lacking.

It was quite late in the night, and Su Yuxin had yet to arrive. At this moment, a few street thugs were brought into the police station and thrown straight into the holding cell. Jiang Han could see from their faces that they were not worried at all about their situation, thus in his mind he had an idea of what was going on.

It was unfortunate, but these few thugs were here for him. He felt that he was wronged in this matter, as not only were they the reason that he was in this mess, the thugs were still disgruntled and thence immediately sent some of their own in here to mess with him. He didn’t understand how he had offended these people to this extend.

Just then, at the food stall where Jiang Han was previously at, a car arrived with a minivan behind it. A man walked out from the car and shrugged his shoulders. On the island strip on the side, a man was carried out, it was the man who was the first to be kicked away by Jiang Han.

“Boss, those little b.a.s.t.a.r.ds, took us all out within seconds, you need to take revenge for us.” The man sobbed, and made himself the victim.

“That’s enough, you boys aren’t angels either, always causing trouble for me. However, anyone who lays a finger on my boys, would have to pay the price. Don’t worry, everything’s been arranged.” With a wave of his hand, two men came out of the vehicle and carried everyone lying on the ground into the minivan, and then both vehicles left the scene.

Meanwhile, in the holding cell within the police station, the jailer threw the thugs into the cell, locked the door and then left the area. When Jiang Han saw all these happened before his eyes, he sneered, it was obvious that the boss of these thugs arranged for them to be here. It’s just that these corrupt officers were a little too blatant about it.

As expected, he was right. As soon as the thugs came in the cell they walked towards Jiang Han. The one in the lead was bald, he was prepared to take care of Jiang Han from the get go. Just as he raised his fist, Jiang Han suddenly shouted “Wait!”

The bald man scoffed, a crocked smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. He thought that Jiang Han was scared and was about to beg for mercy, he relished this sort of situations.

“You just had some wild mushrooms earlier, did you not?” Jiang Han urgently ask, his expression was dead serious.

Baldy was shocked: “How did you know?”

“You need to hurry to the hospital, otherwise your life will be in danger.” Jiang Han didn’t explain in detail and just directly mention the key point.

The thugs laughed out loud, ridiculing Jiang Han for joking around so seriously. The bald man’s reaction was even more exaggerated, he was rolling on the ground laughing.

Upon seeing the thugs laugh their heads out, Jiang Han loudly said: “You guys are still laughing, look at him, he won’t make it much longer.”

The thugs heard him and glanced at the bald man, who had white foam spouting out from his mouth, and his body was in a spasm. Suddenly everyone stopped laughing, and instead started to shout for the officer’s help.

Not to mention that these thugs were arranged to be here, even if they really committed a crime, the officers could not do nothing and let them die in their station, they swiftly got a vehicle to send the baldy to the hospital.

Right then, the officer-in-charge got a phone call from his kid, but the voice on the other end wasn&rsq

uo;t the one he expected. A girl’s voice informed him that his kid was heavily injured in a motor accident and is currently being treated and that he needed to rush to the hospital.

The officer’s phone dropped onto the ground, his heart sank as he heard the news, at this moment his heart was full of regret. He turned around to look at the holding cell, that young man had just warned him, earnestly warned him about it.

If he had heed his words, then right now… … aih, with a loud sigh, the officer left for the hospital right away.

They had just sent a man to the hospital, and now something happened to the officer-in-charge. The whole police station was in a little panic, and right at this moment, Su Yuxin arrived.
Accompanying her was a middle-age man, who was also the driver. The police officer at the front desk saw the vehicle number plate and immediately sat up straight. He politely and respectfully welcomed Su Yuxin and the man into the station.

Shortly later, Jiang Han left the station without any problems and then sat in a luxury car on his way back to the hospital where he was a resident. He had a lot of questions in his mind, and when he looked at Su Yuxin, before he could ask, she made a motion for him to keep silent, thus he could only hold his curiosity in.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at the hospital, Jiang Han got off and said goodbye to Su Yuxin. They did not say a single word to each other on the entire ride.

Zhou Wei saw Jiang Han got off the car from the window, who then came out with a couple of their colleagues to welcome him back. But when they came out, the vehicle was already leaving. Looking at the number plate, Zhou Wei’s eyebrow slightly rose, and it looked like he was pondering something.

That was the governor’s number plates on the vehicle, what was Jiang Han doing in such a vehicle, does he have any relation with Jiangsu city’s second in command(4)? This matter could not be hidden, and very soon the entire emergency department had heard about it. Now everyone here looked at Jiang Han slightly differently.

The wave of problems now finally seem to be over, Jiang Han returned to his dormitory room. The room wasn’t very big, but it had all the necessary facilities, and since this was provided by the hospital, the cleanliness naturally was fine.

After running around the whole day, Jiang Han essentially did not have the time to take a proper look at the shaman’s legacy that he had just obtain and fell asleep.

At lunch break the next day, when the two chiefs have yet to report for work, Liu Xing received a patient with severe stomach pains, and Jiang Han was naturally here as well. The patient looked to be in intense pain, his whole body was covered in sweat, and his complexion was deathly pale.

The emergency department’s internal medicine division initial a.s.sessment was Peptic Ulcer Disease (2), Liu Xing promptly injected the patient with 6542(2) to lessen the his pain, He then wrote a prescription for some alkaline medicine for immediate relief to balance the acidity in the stomach, preventing the ulcer from getting worst, If this didn’t work, then he could only wait for the chief to perform a closer examination.

Unfortunately, the injection did not have much of an effect, the medicine wasn’t an immortal pill, even if it was, time would be needed for the medicine to take effect. Even more so when the patient looked like he couldn’t make it, biting down like he was going to die, how would he even manage to swallow the medicine.

Jiang Han looked at the patient, he felt like his eyes could see things that he normally wouldn’t be able to. He didn’t know why but he could determine that this wasn’t a simple stomach ulcer. He took one step forward and lean forward to carefully take a look at the patient. He discovered that he had a pain that looked like it was “drilled in”, in addition to the incessant cold sweat, his vomit was not stomach acid but was bile instead. That’s right, there should be no mistake, it should be Biliary Ascariasis (3).

Biliary Ascariasis in adults were extremely rare. The patient’s conditions were extremely clear to Jiang Han right now, he discovered that the patients Minor Yang Gallbladder Meridian was blocked, corresponding with the legacy in his mind and his understanding of modern medicine, it was without a doubt Biliary Ascariasis.

Only after affirming the diagnosis, then can the proper prescription be made. The Huangdi Neijing treatment for this disease was a sour plum decoction (1), and the reasoning was: Acid is the bane of all bacteria, to encounter is to wane.

The legacy in his mind was absolutely reliable, Jiang Han had no doubts, however the medicine prescribe by Liu Xing was completely oppose to his own diagnosis. If Liu Xing were to administer the treatment, then the consequences will be worst.

“This is a surgical disease, cla.s.sified under abdominal surgery. Quickly transfer the patient to our surgical division, do not administer Dr.Liu’s treatment for now.” Jiang Han urgently said. He could not ignore the situation right now as the patient’s life was the most important.

t/s notes:

Sour plum decoction/drink – An intensely sweet and sour drink that’s kinda like a Chinese ice lemon tea. Recipe & Pictures in the link Peptic Ulcer Disease – essentially stomach ulcer, also i have no idea what 6542 is. My research on this turned up empty. It is literally written numerically as 6542 in the raws. Biliary Ascariasis – The biliary tract refers to the liver, gall bladder and bile ducts; Ascariasisis an infection of the small intestine caused by Ascaris lumbricoides (A. lumbricoides), which is a species of roundworm. Governor in China. If you are like me and are not familiar with the government official hierarchy in China then you would be confused. There are reference to the number 2 man or the 2nd most powerful man in the province of Jiangsu in this and subsequent chapters. In this chapter the reference was specifically this person’s vehicle special number plate. I a.s.sumed the 2nd in charge would be the vice governor or lieutenant governor (in America) and I suppose deputy first minister (UK) In China, The Governor of Jiangsu is the highest-ranking official in the People’s Government of Jiangsu. However, in the province’s dual party-government governing system, the Governor has less power than the Jiangsu Communist Party of China Provincial Committee Secretary, colloquially termed the “Jiangsu CPC Party Chief”. Which would technically make the Governor the second highest ranking executive in the province and is subordinated to the secretary of the provincial communist party. tldr: Governor of Jiangsu => No.2 in power; Jiangsu CPC Party Chief => No.1 in power.
