Chapter 3 – Fine Ginseng?
Although there was something fishy about what Li Yuan said, Zhao Qian never questioned him. Only with a gentle voice: “Good, I know you did it for the good of Hua Dagu, all right?”
After she spoke, Zhao Qian gave a small container of food to Li Yuan, she then softly laughed: “These are skewered meat, I have to go back, good bye!”
“Good bye!” Li Yuan did not pay attention to the skewered meat he received, rather he hurriedly reminded her: “Take care of your body, you must not get too tired!”
“I know!” Zhao Qian gave Li Yuan a sweet smile, then she turned around to leave.
Looking at the graceful silhouette of Zhao Qian leave the alley, Li Yuan smiling face gradually faded away. He softly murmured to himself: “Why do good people always have the worst luck, ai!”
Li Yuan felt a sense of emotion looking at the youthfulness of the beautiful young woman. She in fact had a very grave heart disease. The doctor said that Zhao Qian had an illness that is extremely rare, also her livelihood brought about a huge influence to it. Even the slightest of fierce movement can endanger her life; so much so that after she gets married and gives birth, it will also be a dangerous matter.
In reality even going to school she does not dare continue studying. Zhao Qian in her second year high school already missed one full semester staying at home resting. Even if this was the case, this clever girl still went to the city everyday to help sell skewered meat. She tried her best to help her parents with the best of her capabilities.
Although thinking about the situation of Zhao Qian made his mood heavy, Li Yuan immediately cheered up due to his optimistic personality. He returned inside his shed to enjoy his evening meal.
Although he received Zhao Qian’s skewered meat and Hua Dagu’s meal and beer, it really could not be compared to that of a restaurants. However for Li Yuan this kind of simple life at the bottom is already very rich. Therefore the food he is currently eating is very tasty for him.
After eating his meal, Li Yuan went to the yard to have his cool water bath. He washed his beaten and tired body. After which he began to prepare to bring the ginseng he bought to his neighbor Old Liao.
However in this small time period, Li Yuan dispelled his plan, in a low murmur: “I had better just do this tomorrow, anyway it’s not so urgent to do it this late at night.”
Hence Li Yuan conveniently placed the ginseng on top of his desk. After which he grabbed the peach pit from earlier today to examine it under the table lamp.
A while ago he was in the middle of the street during the day, so Li Yuan did not have the time to carefully check it. Now he has the time to observe this peach pit. Li Yuan was also very fond of this peach pit, no matter how simple and unadorned its red-purple color. Still, it had a faint distinct l.u.s.ter, the veined patterns somehow show that this peach pit is ancient; so much so that it is several hundred of years old.
As the proverbs say “Look to ones liking”, Li Yuan was really fond of this peach pit. He could not help but say: “If I didn’t need to pay for rent for this house, I genuinely would not be willing to sell this!”
In the time Li Yuan was talking to himself, on the peach pit he was holding suddenly a droplet appeared at the bottom. Li Yuan was amazed at the golden colored liquid, at the pointed hole is started to ooze out.
“What is this demonry?!” Li Yuan mumbled to himself, his mind was subconsciously reaching for the liquid.
At this exact moment, the golden colored liquid already completely dripped from the peach pit dripping on Li Yuan’s palm. This is when he noticed that it was not a liquid drop, rather it was a grain sized golden bead. The bead’s texture was somewhat like a gelatin dessert. Also Li Yuan’s chest slightly trembled, under the light of the desk lamp the golden bead had a faint glow of light. This just added to the mystery.
Li Yuan was amazed at the small golden bead, he murmured to himself: “This is similar to the cod liver oil I used to have as a kid, however…how did this come from the peach pit, this is truly strange!”
While Li Yuan was speaking, his palm accidentally went askew causing the golden bead to tumble downwards. Unexpectedly it went exactly where the ginseng happen to be at.
Perhaps due to it falling heavily, the golden bead smashed into pieces becoming liquid once again hitting all the ginseng.
“Ai ya!” Li Yuan let out a scream, he hurriedly tried to find a paper towel believing that the ginseng became dirty and needed to be wiped.
However as Li Yuan came back with the paper towel, the liquid on the ginseng was gone. Just a moment ago the golden bead fell on it, in a blink of an eye it immediately disappeared.
Li Yuan picked up the ginseng looking at it, it appeared like nothing happened. This let Li Yuan to have a relaxed expression. Tomorrow this ginseng must be sent over to Old Liao, Li Yuan wished to see what happened, he didn’t have any more money to buy another one.
Lightly holding on to the ginseng he put it back to its original spot. Li Yuan with doubt said to himself: “Just a moment ago what was the thing, inside the peach pit appears to be something. It is truly odd!”
With the odd incident, Li Yuan thought of it for a long time however he could not find one single explanation.
Only Li Yuan is a very optimistic person, even sometimes causing him to be a bit simple-minded. His principle is that as long as he was unable to understand something, he quickly gives up giving great effort to find the truth. “Tomorrow I will go to Old Liao, he is experienced and knowledgeable, perhaps he might know something.”
In high spirits Li Yuan let out a yawn, he collapsed on his bad rapidly falling asleep. Because earlier in the day he cycled as fast as he could, Li Yuan quickly fell asleep. When he woke up the next day, the color of the sky is already bright and clear.
Although he was still muddle-headed, he still did not forget today he will send the ginseng over. Therefore he firmly got up from bed, moving his vision over to the ginseng. However, what he saw left Li Yuan staring foolishly, in a moment his sleepiness disappeared and his mind was completely awake.
In comparison to yesterday evening, the ginseng on the desk completely changed. Not only did it become longer, it appeared even more eminent. The ginseng unexpectedly sprouted seven flakes of leaf, so much so that it even already bore a red fruit!
“Dang, what is this situation!” Looking at the huge changes of the ginseng, the dumbstruck Li Yuan could not help but mutter: “The pa.s.sing of this evening unexpectedly allowed this kind of growth, this ginseng became fine!”
Saying this, Li Yuan inside his mind appeared an attire of red clothes, there was a vivid image of a plump baby soaring in the sky. Only he was sure about one thing in his mind, the ginseng becoming refined is unrealistic. To change an artificially man-made ginseng from the forest to a refined ginseng, it should have leaked a lot of its essence.
After somewhat calming down from his astonishment, Li Yuan carefully recalled the matter of him buying the ginseng. Quickly, he made up his mind and made a speculation.
Li Yuan vision immediately fell on the peach pit that was on the desk, in a low voice he whispered: “For the ginseng to change, don’t tell me that it had something to do with this thing?”
