A Brave Who Takes Care of Children

The immature mind of Elven Prince Loya was injured!

As an Elven Prince who aimed to become the Elven race's hero, he possessed a grand dream of protecting all Elves since childhood! The Elders often told him tales of past Elves who had been deceived by giving their trust too easily to humans and some other despicable races. Because of that, he was full of prejudice against all races besides the Holy Light Elves. The little prince swore in his heart: if another race ever dared to bully his Holy Light Elf race, he would definitely let them taste his strength!

Then, as Prince Loya was running around, playing, he saw his elder sister holding down and hitting a human.

–Although the scene was that of his big sister one-sidedly beating the human…

–Although it didn't seem like said human would retaliate…

However! How could the righteous Holy Light Elf Queen possibly bully humans proactively?! That human must be at fault!

Young Prince Loya's heroic spirit erupted. He charged forward to help, waving his little fists.

But after he got a few hits in, his elder sister reined him in. "Loya, how come you're here–Xu Jun, are you alright? Are you hurt? Loya is still young and immature, so he's quite heavy-handed…"

The young Prince Loya: "…."

Ahh! He was super angry! Why did his sister stop him, even asking about that human's well-being, when he was clearly protecting his big sister and helping her beat the bad guy?!

The little Prince Loya's cheeks bulged, his round eyes filled with the s.h.i.+mmering light of confusion and grievance. He glanced at his big sister, then at that hateful human, and began to bawl.

Xu Jun's mind was filled with curses. _(:зゝ∠)_

Xu Jun was at a loss. In his heart he thought, why were the Holy Light Elf brats so similar to human brats these days? Why did they all like to hit people and then feel the need to cry first? If this had been a human brat, he could have given them a good spanking; the problem was, however, that elves had thin skin and tender flesh that would break with a pinch. It was hard for him to make a move.

Yet, inconceivably, Ellie smiled. This former princess, forced to rapidly mature due to her mother's death, finally showed a genuine smile. Xu Jun suddenly felt as if this smiling face overlapped with another from a certain afternoon in his memories. Time had left no trace upon Ellie. Ellie shook her head. “This is my younger brother, Loya. Although he might act like this, he is quite ambitious."

Xu Jun looked at this crybaby, Loya, thinking that he really couldn't see it.

Loya affirmed his older sister's words while sobbing, "That's right, wuwuwu, I-I'll become a great hero of the Holy Light Elves… wuwuwu, I am going to k-kill that big bad Demon King Ro…Ro whatever, wuwuwu…"

His Majesty Demon King Rozenke, residing within Xu Jun's heart, snorted coldly, "Holy Light Elves, hmph."

After hearing Loya's brave declaration, the great Brave expressed distress, "You can become the Holy Light Elves' great hero, but you won't be able to kill the Demon King, because Demon King Rozenke has already died to my hands."

The young Holy Light Elf Prince, Loya, raised his head. "Demon King Ro, Ro…"

Xu Jun rubbed his soft and fluffy hair, "That's right, Demon King Rozenke. I successfully killed him about a month ago."

The latter half of his sentence was directed towards Ellie. This Brave Xu Jun, who had always been a single dog with low EQ, raised his head slightly and let out a heartfelt smile, "You don't have to worry anymore about the dark elements turning your hair gloomy and ugly anymore, Ellie. Your blond hair will always be bright and beautiful."

The Holy Light Elf Queen Ellie's heart moved slightly, "You…"

Xu Jun thought for a bit and thought that his words weren't sincere enough, "It's not a problem if you grow white hair in the future either! Here I have the best dyes made from the tail feathers of Golden Peac.o.c.ks; once applied it can last for ten years!"

Queen Ellie's face quickly darkened,  "Xu Jun, get the h.e.l.l out–!"

Xu Jun: "Meow, meow, meow?" Why are you suddenly angry again, young miss?!

Demon King Rozenke, on the other hand, suddenly felt much better. In truth, he had previously felt as if this had been a young lad and la.s.s having a lover's quarrel. Although Xu Jun had been brutally beaten, Rozenke hadn't been happy about it. he felt the rage of something akin to: you dare to beat one of Yours Truly's people?! However, when the Elven Queen showed her evident regret–His Majesty the Demon King became further enraged: the people of Yours Truly's don't need your affection!

Holy Light Elves!! Truly a bunch of unreasonable fellows who didn't know the immensity of heaven and earth!

Furthermore, this Elven Prince actually said he wanted to kill him, His Majesty the Demon King? Hm? Who gave him the audacity?!

His Majesty the Demon King's opinion of the Holy Light Elves dropped to its lowest possible point (it had already been negative). Meanwhile, the Spirit Beast Elder, who had told the little Prince about the Holy Light Elves' fairytale involving an evil Demon King, villainous humans, and a white lotus, holy mother, let out a great sneeze, "Achoo–!"

At this time, he was fighting with the Alchemist Elder, his hands holding back a powerful move. This sneeze ruined everything: the Alchemist Elder punched him in the face.

With that punch, the Alchemist Elder released much of his anger. In his heart he thought, in order to get Xu Jun to bring that dragon's breath crystal, I went through much trouble, yet you want to steal it?! He had completely forgotten that he had also wanted the Spirit Beast Elder's mutated lotus seed. If their current appearances were seen by those wandering bards, those bards would probably collapse… were these actually the elegant and dignified Holy Light Elves?!

However, for the real Holy Light Elves, elegance and dignity only existed in peacetime! If the Holy Light Elves relied on their elegance and dignity to support themselves, then they would likely still be living in the resource-deprived, evil atmosphere of the Barren Hills!

Back then, their combat prowess had been greater than that of the current Beastmen!

The sole person who the Holy Light Elves did not treat as a stupid human, Xu Jun, was currently in a bad mood. After her inexplicable anger, Ellie had handed her bratty, younger brother over to him, throwing down the line, "Didn't you kill the Demon King? Aren't you really powerful? Then, I'll be handing Loya over to you." After that, she immediately left.

She had walked away quite quickly too. It seemed that she was still fuming; it was quite similar to Knight Commander Jesse's previous actions.

Xu Jun instinctively received the now even more miserable child who had begun to cry after hearing that the Demon King had already been killed. He looked towards Knight Commander Jesse, thinking, your Queen doesn't follow reason, but it can't be that you are unreasonable too, right? Did she really just hand the young prince to me? I am someone who spanks children, you know?

However, Knight Commander Jesse simply made a slight bow before also leaving rapidly.

Xu Jun hollered in his heart, f.u.c.k, why are you letting a single, young man in his twenties take care of a child?! This little Elf Prince was really detestable too, crying and tightly latching onto him, not allowing him to leave this child here and quietly sneak away.

"Fine, kid, get up and I'll tell you a story." In the end, Xu Jun was defeated by the demonic sound entering his ears.

"Legend says that there was once a mountain. Atop that mountain was a palace. And within that palace was a Demon King and a Brave…the Brave told the Demon King a story. The story goes as such…" Xu Jun began speaking. Originally, he thought of making a random story, as the young Elven Prince was clearly a child, and so wouldn't be able to understand any complicated stories. He planned on using something similar to the Three Little Pigs or Snow White to appease him–however, after he began to speak, Xu Jun suddenly remembered many things. Therefore, he began to tell a made-up story that contained elements of reality. Perhaps this story wasn't perfect, but it was something that had happened in real life.

"Originally, the Brave's goal wasn't to kill anyone; he only wanted to see many sights, walk many paths, and make many friends. He was just a normal person, young Prince, a type of person that you've perhaps never encountered before. After all, he was completely ordinary from head to toe," Xu Jun spoke gently with a pleasant tone. Right now, he was thinking of the emotions he felt playing the game for the first time. The him of then could not have imagined how great an impact the game would have on him. "On his journeys, he saw many people and many things. There were people who dropped to their knees and prayed for mercy in the face of disasters. Some confronted such disasters unperturbed. There were also others who would sell out this Brave for their own well-being. After being sold out so many times, the Brave gradually got used to it. One day, sir Brave was drinking beer in a bar and a gangster came over–you might not recognize this sort of person. They asked the female shopkeeper to pay them more protection fees. The shopkeeper begged desperately, yet they turned a deaf ear, so the Brave called over the city guards to maintain order. The gangsters ran away. However, the shopkeeper complained that the Brave was causing her trouble, 'Do you think you've done a good deed? Young man, there are people above them. Once you leave, what are we going to do?' The Brave suddenly understood. What he was doing now might just be useless work; as soon as he left, the world would remain the same as it was prior to his death. Therefore, he decided to do something big before he left the world officially: he decided to kill the Demon King."

When Xu Jun chose to defeat the final boss, he had indeed felt a bit tired. The feeling wasn't strong; after taking a nap his spirits increased by a hundredfold. However, some things that happened in this world truly made him feel tired.

"I don't like that shopkeeper!" The young Prince Loya quietly and sharply spoke.

Great, finally, the child wasn't crying anymore! Xu Jun secretly praised himself, "Yours Truly is an well-rounded nanny!"

This time, Prince Ryan had not said anything to him. Perhaps he also thought this story was quite boring and was now speechless. _(:зゝ∠)_

Loya grabbed onto Xu Jun's clothes once again with his small hands. "Hey! Tell me another story! I don't like this story! I like–this prince likes stories where the Brave becomes the king of the world!"

"This kid is very promising! King of the world, hehehe." In his heart, Xu Jun smilingly shook his head. "Loya, once a Brave becomes a Brave, he will never become a king."

Loya's small head drifted from left to right with thought. "Well, my big sister is the Queen so I can't be the King. So, can I be a Brave?"

He looked at Xu Jun with the innocent, naive, and despotic eyes specific to young children. Xu Jun picked him up, and decided to walk towards the Golden Finch Pavilion–he had always lived there. "I think that your sister wouldn't wish for you to become a Brave."

Being a Brave wasn't a good profession.

For example, when a child cried, the unfortunate Brave would be left to appease the child. Does Yours Truly owe you guys?!

Translator's Niche:

Hehehe, I was reminded of a silly “story” when Xu Jun said, “Legend says that there was once a mountain. Atop that mountain was a palace. And within that palace was a Demon King and a Brave…the Brave told the Demon King a story. The story goes as such…”

The “story” roughly translates to this in English, “Once upon a time, there was a mountain. On that mountain was a temple. In that temple were a young monk and an old monk. One day the old monk told the young monk a story: Once upon a time, there was a mountain. On that mountain was a temple…”

Basically the “story” just keeps on looping :3. How to raise expectations only to drop them in the gutter!
