The tires suddenly skidded along the road before coming to a stop. The body of the car slightly shook, causing Qin Chu to let out a m.u.f.fled groan from the back seat. Jing Xia turned towards Ji Chuancheng in surprise, only to see the latter gripping the steering wheel with one hand, while turning his head to look at him with a grave expression, asking: "Just now, you said... Lin Shen?"

"Yes, Lin Shen." Jing Xia replied in a matter-of-fact voice. He pondered for a long while, before saying: "Oh, you don't know about this. In my last life, I didn't deliberately come to find you. So the time when we met was after the second beast tide. Prior to that, I had joined the small team of Wu Jiqing that Lin Shen was in. Although his ability is not the most powerful, he is extremely smart.” Seeing Ji Chuancheng’s increasingly frigid expression, Jing Xia asked: "Hey... do you know him?"

His distinctive and handsome face exposed a hard-to-describe complicated expression, as Ji Chuancheng whispered in a low voice: "En, he is one of the divisional leaders of the troops in the restricted zone at B City."

"To think that originally...Lin Shen actually had such an ident.i.ty, he really hid it deeply." Jing Xia said ruefully, before suddenly perceiving a cold, dagger-like gaze directed at him. He helplessly waved his hand and said: "Ok, ok, I’ll stop talking nonsense. Lin Shen once speculated that regarding this global evolution due to unknown causes, individuals of different races do not have an order of priority for evolution. However, individuals of the same race generally start evolving from those with the lowest potential as it is easier for them to accomplish. The higher the potential, the further back they are on the evolutionary sequence, and the evolution is more difficult. For example, if the first evolved human appears, then his ability would be below average for the human race, and would not experience evolution failure. Of course, at that time, Lin Shen was only making a conjecture without any data collected, so we did not pay it that much attention.”

The curved moon hung in the pitch-black night sky; there was not a single star in the sky. There was only a curtain of darkness that seemed as though it would devour everything, ruthlessly enveloping the whole earth. Ji Chuancheng narrowed his eyes as he pondered: "According to this speculation, those individuals with more potential are less likely to evolve. Then... someone may have discovered this issue and aim to artificially promote human evolution."

Once the voice fell, Ji Chuancheng did not speak any further. Jing Xia’s curiosity arose, he couldn't help but ask: "A’chuan, what are you talking about?"

Ji Chuancheng answered blankly: "It’s nothing."

"..." After a long silence, Jing Xia shot Ji Chuancheng a glance, saying: "Did you really think that I’d believe that?"

Yet, the latter completely seemed as though he did not feel the gloomy and fierce gaze from the youth. Ji Chuancheng still had that calm facade of facial paralysis, eyes looking straight ahead. Without s.h.i.+fting his line of sight, he said: “This matter isn’t for you to worry about. Right now, you should be carefully thinking about it. Once you find that S-cla.s.s variant white lotus, are you planning to boil it or braise it?" After a pause, he swept a glance at Jing Xia’s dumbfounded expression out of the corner of his eye. Ji Chuancheng continued to speak in that indifferent tone: "Oh yes, it’s actually an S-cla.s.s variant white lotus with an extremely ugly sucker."

"......."

Under the cold hazy night scene, Jing Xia gave a snort while disregarding his own face. No longer glancing at this poison-tongued man, it could be considered that what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over. What he did not discover, was that behind him, the apathetic and elegant man slightly hooked up his lips. He revealed a faint smile that was hard to perceive, before quickly covering it up.

A dark silver Land Rover steadily travelled along the road in the night, surrounded by flat farmland all around. The night wind is the most resounding sound of the wilderness, blowing into the car from the window, dispelling the summer heat. Not knowing when, the young man in the pa.s.senger seat slept peacefully. His entire body was leaning to the left, reclining on the soft chair, exhaling softly.

A thin black coat suddenly covered the youth’s body, completely keeping the cool evening wind out. The distinctive joints of the finger made gentle movements to pull up the coat, allowing the young man’s exposed arms to be completely covered. Not knowing what happened, the young man suddenly gave a mumble before suddenly turning, facing his back to the driver's seat.

"..." The man with one hand on the steering wheel was silent for a long while, before finally sighing with helplessness, whispering to himself: "An...S-cla.s.s variant white lotus? You wouldn't believe it, then did you think…that I would believe it?"

At this time, Ji Chuancheng’s knitted brows that he had since leaving the villa, finally slightly loosened. He helplessly turned to look at the young man in the pa.s.senger seat, and quickly turned away. It was only a very quick glance, yet it caused the tightly pursed lips to slightly hook up and give off a low laugh.

The night wind blew, with the moon s.h.i.+ning down.

The morning sun finally ascended from the far east horizon, sweeping away the darkness that had enveloped the world, allowing light to return to the Earth again.

Jing Xia slowly stretched his body, before suddenly feeling that his hands and feet were confined due to the narrow s.p.a.ce. He finally opened his eyes, suddenly remembering where he was. All the drowsiness faded, Jing Xia immediately turned around: "A’chuan, we are here..."

When his sight landed on the person in the driver's seat, Jing Xia’s voice became stuck in his throat.
