The ceremony carried on. Everything seemed to be going so well. Both of them prayed and bowed to the heaven and earth. Before they proceeded to the bridal chamber, Di Fuyi carried her in his arms once again under the watchful eyes of the people and strode into the room.
The audience was not surprised by their unconventional interactions anymore. They were not shocked to see Di Fuyi carrying his bride in his arms. Instead, the audience quickly sent the newlywed their blessings.
The decoration of the bridal chamber was done according to Gu Xijiu’s preferences. The furniture was delicate and elegant. There were too many beautiful things to be fully appreciated all at once.
Di Fuyi carried her into the bridal chamber. All the chaperons quickly approached them and greeted them promptly. Di Fuyi put her down gently on the bed and uncovered the red veil.
She was stunning. Her eyes flickered a little in the light. It was an astonis.h.i.+ng sight to witness her ethereal beauty. He could not take his eyes off her at all. The servants and the chaperons quickly congratulated Di Fuyi. They then proceeded to invite him to the hall to celebrate with the guests. It was customary.

Gu Xijiu giggled in his embrace. “You really like to carry me around, don’t you?”
He held her tightly at all times, refusing to let her leave her side at all.
“I wish to carry you for the rest of my life,” Di Fuyi sighed.
It was easy for a normal couple to promise eternal love and to grow old together. However, it was not easy for Di Fuyi and Gu Xijiu at this stage.
Gu Xijiu hugged him around his neck and planted a kiss on his chin to cheer him up. “Hmm, you have made your promise, so you have to carry me for the rest of our lives. You are not allowed to leave me alone.”
Di Fuyi felt as if a knife was piercing through his heart. He hid his pain with a smile and filled the gla.s.ses with the wine. She took the gla.s.s of wine from him. With a gla.s.s in his hand, he announced, “Come. Let us have a toast. I have been keeping the wine for a few centuries. Have a taste to see if you like it.”
The red wine was exquisite; therefore its name was justified- Bewitching Eyes. The taste of the wine was smooth and sweet, exuding a faint, charming scent. It was truly unforgettable.
With their arms tightly wrapped around one another, they leaned their foreheads against each other and finished their gla.s.ses of wine.
Gu Xijiu liked wine. She fell immediately in love with this particular wine, so she focused her eyes on the wine pot and asked Di Fuyi for more. “Can I have another gla.s.s?”
The taste was so good!
Di Fuyi laughed out loud. “Silly. You can only drink cross-cupped wine once. You will get to drink the wine again in the future. I have buried a few hundred jugs in the ground. You can drink as much as you want.”
Gu Xijiu held his hand tightly and answered. “We shall drink the wine together.”
Di Fuyi hesitated a little at first. “All right,” he then responded.
Gu Xijiu patted his hand gently and said, “All right, now that we are done with the drinks, you should get out there and attend to our guests, so others will not get any time for gossip.”
Instead of doing so, Di Fuyi carried her again. “No, tonight is our wedding night. You are the only one that I want to attend to.”
They went towards the bed.
Gu Xijiu was very happy, but she teased him back. “You sound like a male servant from a brothel.”
If the comment were to be made by someone else, he or she would be immediately slapped. However, Di Fuyi was not bothered by Gu Xijiu’s comment at all. Instead, he teased her back, “Am I? Let me attend to your needs to satisfy you!”
