THE UNCLE. Pshaw! You are joking?
THE GRANDFATHER. I do not feel inclined for joking, I can a.s.sure you.
THE UNCLE. Then believe those who can see.
THE GRANDFATHER [_undecidedly_]. I thought there was someone.... I believe I shall not live long....
THE UNCLE. Why should we deceive you? What use would there be in that?
