Ch.192 Siskin (4)
Xie Xuanchen shook his head, as if he had something to say, but suddenly clenched his fist and covered his lips, he then let out a dull cough. Mu Mingtang was frightened by it, and asked quickly: "What's the matter? Someone, call for an imperial physician."
"There’s no need for that." Xie Xuanchen stopped Mu Mingtang with a hoa.r.s.e voice. Mu Mingtang was extremely anxious, even Xie Xuanji and Jiang Mingwei looked this way.
"Second brother, your health is of the utmost importance." Xie Xuanji frowned and asked the post-mortem examiner, "How long will it take for you to determine the cause of death?"
The post-mortem examiner was placed in a tough spot as he showed an embarra.s.sed expression: "A post mortem is a rather meticulous task, I’m afraid that it’ll take a while."
Xie Xuanji’s brows furrowed and said to Xie Xuanchen earnestly, "Second brother, I know you are concerned about this whole matter, but the post-mortem examiner will not be able to find out the cause anytime soon. The wind is extremely strong out here, I'm worried that your body might not be able to take it any longer. How about, second brother, you head to the pavilion and wait there. When the results are out, I will immediately send someone to report it back to you."
Xie Xuanchen still insisted on saying no, but this time many people persuaded him to, to at least head back in. When he got back inside, Mu Mingtang immediately gave a round of orders, to ventilate the area, to get a fresh bowl of water, a new charcoal basin, and to make ginger tea, all the maids were busy. When there was no one in front of them, Mu Mingtang quickly asked Xie Xuanchen, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Xie Xuanchen was holding a cup of hot tea, the heat softened his brows and eyes, accentuating his handsome face which made him look like a kept man, "It's too cold outside, it's not as comfortable as sitting indoors."
Mu Mingtang was confused at first, then at a loss, she even suspected that she had heard him wrong. At this moment, someone walked in, they only had such a short moment alone. Mu Mingtang couldn't ask on, so she could only hold herself back.
She actually wanted to ask, after Xie Xuanchen got back inside, no one was outside keeping tabs on the progress. Wouldn't Xie Xuanji and the post-mortem examiner do something behind their backs? However, she looked at Xie Xuanchen's calm and beautiful eyebrows, and said nothing in the end.
Although Xie Xuanchen did look like a kept man, when it came to fooling someone, no one could fool Xie Xuanchen. On this matter, Mu Mingtang was pretty confident.
Mu Mingtang and Xie Xuanchen sat comfortably in the warm room. After a while, Xie Xuanji came in along with a whiff of cold air: "Second brother, second sister-in-law."
Xie Xuanchen didn't speak as he radiated a big boss kind of vibe, and Mu Mingtang could only greet him on his behalf: "Prince Jin, you have worked hard. Why is Concubine Jin still outside, why isn’t she coming in for a rest?"
Jiang Mingwei didn't want to be in the same room with these two people, wouldn’t that be deliberately bringing trouble upon herself. She smiled reluctantly and said, "I'm not afraid of the cold, it's better to be by my husband’s side."
Mu Mingtang smiled lovingly: "You both have such a sweet relations.h.i.+p, I feel relieved as a senior at the sight of you two. By the way, third brother, is the result for the post mortem out yet?"
Xie Xuanji lowered his head slightly and looked down as he said, "To answer your question, the post-mortem examiner has come out with a result." he said, as he looked behind him, and motioned for the post-mortem examiner to step forward.
Upon receiving such an order, the post-mortem examiner didn't dare to look up at Mu Mingtang's face. After a few steps, he knelt down and said, "My humble greetings to Prince An and Concubine An."
"What's the cause of death?"
Many people’s gazes in the room couldn't help but fall onto the post-mortem examiner, he still had his head low, his forehead got even closer to the ground: "To answer your question, she indeed drowned to death."
Drowned to death? Mu Mingtang frowned when she heard this answer, how could it be possible? At this time, Xie Xuanchen, who sat next to her, asked in a calm manner, "Was she pushed into the water and drowned to death, or did she fall into the water by herself and drowned to death?”
