Chapter 540: Chapter 412: Wind Ancient Path, Tribe of Wind
The Wind-binding Spirit led the way, with Chu Mu riding the Night Thunder Dream Beast closely behind.
Knowing that Chu Mu could withstand a certain degree of wind force, the Wind-binding Spirit used its unique wind sensing ability to lead the way. It found the weakest wind trajectory between winds, which allowed Chu Mu to move along this special path and suffer significantly less wind attack.
“So, there are weak wind trajectories to be found in the wind belts, which means I won’t be hindered anymore,” Chu Mu secretly noted this method.
If Chu Mu knew this method earlier, the combat power of his soul pets wouldn’t have been so reduced in the Ancient Wasteland.
The Wind-binding Spirit took Chu Mu along a very peculiar route that continuously stuck close to the ground and remained in the Windy Zone. However, Chu Mu felt there was something strange about the surroundings, as if he had entered into another realm of wind. It seemed like a hidden path in the Chaos Wind, leading to a more unknown other side of wind…
Chu Mu’s feelings were not wrong, as Fox Elder presented him with a surprising explanation when he gradually entered a completely different area from the Windy Zone.
“Young Master, this is the legendary Wind Road. In the past many years, some Soul Pet Masters who have experienced adventures have described accidentally entering the Wind Road and no longer being obstructed by wind force. It’s like an air-filled path in water that leads to an unknown area. However, since Soul Pet Masters don’t know the route and trajectory of the Wind Road, they often leave it after walking for a while,” Fox Elder said.
“If that’s the case, wouldn’t a Wind Element Soul Pet be able to lead the way on the Wind Road?” Chu Mu asked.
“Impossible. The Wind Road is said to guide wandering soul pets so that they can find their way home amidst the chaotic wind belts. Generally, only mature soul pets that have left their wandering lives know how to walk the Wind Road. Human soul pets are usually contracted as juveniles and juvenile Wind Element soul pets wouldn’t know this Wind Road. Mature soul pets have almost no chance of signing soul contracts with humans, let alone leading humans along their Wind Road home. As for those soul pets obtained by Soul Alliance members, their memories have been washed away and they won’t remember the way home either,” explained Fox Elder.
“So, is the Wind-binding Spirit taking me to its Wind Home?” Chu Mu asked.
“It should be. There should be a number of wind tribes in the Wind-binding Sanctuary, and this Wind-binding Spirit belongs to one of them. The tribe should be led by a Tenth Rank Wind-binding Spirit, forming the entire tribe’s core along with its Wind-binding Spirit family. Moreover, these Wind-binding Spirit families control many other loyal Wind Element soul pets of different races, acting as guardians and forming an intact Wind Tribe system,” Fox Elder elaborated.
“Both the juvenile Wind-binding Spirit and this Wind-binding Spirit should belong to the same tribe, but it’s unclear why they ventured into the Windy Zone,” Fox Elder added.
As Commander-level soul pets mature, they’ll have their own territories. Since the Wind-binding Spirits are tribe-based creatures, a Monarch-level tribe’s territory would definitely be vast.
Previously, Chu Mu was always wary of the true territories of Monarch-level soul pets while wandering in the Mysterious Realm, as those places were often inhabited by fully mature Monarch-level soul pets that his current strength couldn’t handle.
Additionally, many Monarch dwellings are extremely concealed, heavily guarded, and hard to find, making it near impossible for Soul Pet Trainers to enter a Monarch’s home.
Chu Mu felt a sense of antic.i.p.ation as he walked the Wind Road towards a Medium-grade Monarch Tribe that had never been unveiled to humans before.
Chu Mu’s connection with the Wind-binding Spirit remained somewhat mentally linked, so he didn’t worry about the mature Wind-binding Spirit setting a trap for him. With curiosity and excitement, Chu Mu gradually realized that he had unconsciously stepped into the Strong Wind Zone as he followed the Wind Road.
Since the Wind Road is exclusive, soul pets outside the Wind-binding Spirit tribe couldn’t appear on it. Even if they did, they would be expelled out of the ancient Wind Road by the mysterious wind forces in no time.
So, Chu Mu didn’t encounter any other soul pets along the way. However, through some memory fragments left by the Wind-binding Spirit in his mind, Chu Mu faintly sensed that he was slowly approaching the Wind-binding Spirit tribe.
“Zzzzzzz…”
Suddenly, the Wind-binding Spirit left the ground and skillfully rode the wind, slowly drifting into the sky following a certain trajectory.
“Night, follow up.”
At this point, the Night Thunder Dream Beast in this Chaos Wind environment couldn’t step on anything. When the Wind Road started to extend into the sky, Chu Mu gradually realized that the Wind-binding Spirit tribe should be in a unique air domain protected by special wind forces.
The mature Wind-binding Spirit’s speed slowly increased, and Chu Mu could sense its excitement and eagerness through the soul communication. The Wind Tribe should be arriving soon.
As Chu Mu approached the Wind Tribe, memories began to continuously emerge in his mind…
A clean blue sky with countless black wind vortexes standing still, scattered, and following some special pattern.
From Chu Mu’s normal viewpoint, these were just some scattered black vortexes under the blue sky, which he found slightly novel at most.
However, when he sensed the emotions of the Wind-binding Spirit, these black whirlwinds seemed like scattered houses on a tranquil land, forming a village that was both separate and connected.
In these black whirlwinds lived many wind-type Soul Pets of the same race. The young Wind-type spirits would fly up to the blue sky, happily soaring and dancing around the village huts. Some half-grown wind-type Soul Pets would compete with each other, displaying their wind-type skills under the vast blue sky.
From a distance, the mature Tenth Rank Storm Season Elf stood majestically at the edge of the village, solemnly guarding it like sentry soldiers, preventing any non kindred Soul Pets from invading.
From a human perspective, all of this was just a group of Wind-type Soul Pets wandering in their own territory. However, when it was manifested in Chu Mu’s mind as memories, everything became so vivid and lifelike, just like a human village tribe living in peace.
At this moment, Chu Mu truly felt the excitement and urgency in the heart of the Wind-binding Spirit. It was a feeling of returning home, an emotion no different from that of humans, just manifested in a different way.
Perhaps, all living beings are like this; it’s just that the differences in race and lifestyle make everything completely different…
Chu Mu gradually became immersed in the experience and understood why the Wind-binding Spirit was unwilling to forget this place even after its memories had been erased. This place was its homeland, where it was born and raised…
“Chirp~~~~~ Chirp~~~~~~~~~”
The Wind-binding Spirit’s voice became cheerful, as if it had returned to the scene Chu Mu saw in his memory.
Thinking back to the curled up Wind-binding Spirit in the Soul-catching s.p.a.ce and seeing it now energetically flying around as if it had been reborn, Chu Mu couldn’t help but smile. It seemed that not taking away the Wind-binding Spirit’s memories was the right choice. Otherwise, without its memories, the Wind-binding Spirit would never have been able to follow this winding ancient Wind Path back to its homeland.
“Young Master, the Wind-binding Spirit really wants to take you to their Tribe of Wind. Perhaps their tribe is encountering an invasion of outsiders and needs help from Soul Pet Masters to drive them away. Those invaders may be the culprit for the restless turmoil in the Wind-binding Sanctuary, causing an overflow of Soul Pets. Young Master, you should act accordingly and help the Tribe of Wind drive away some invaders. They might reward you with many treasures. These Soul Pet Tribes are very generous, and that would solve your financial problems!” Fox Elder excitedly said to Chu Mu.
No matter how the Soul Pet Masters kill and loot in the mysterious realm, having a good ally relations.h.i.+p with the World Lord of that realm will provide huge benefits and even help from the Soul Pet allies in times of need. Perhaps, this was the unique advantage of Soul Pet Trainers!
“As long as the intruders aren’t too strong, I should be fine. Otherwise, I won’t be of any help.” Chu Mu said.
In fact, Chu Mu himself did not expect to enter the world of the Wind-binding Spirit as an ally…
“Chirp~~~~~~~~ Chirp~~~~~~~~”
Suddenly, the Wind-binding Spirit sped up. Its agile body dove into the dark clouds, disappearing from Chu Mu’s sight.
Chu Mu knew that the ancient Wind Path was coming to an end. He urged the Night Thunder Dream Beast to quicken its pace and head toward the center of the chaotic wind above.
A chaotic scene appeared before Chu Mu’s eyes. But that was very short-lived.
A dazzling light flashed, making Chu Mu feel slightly blinded as he instinctively covered his eyes with his hand.
When he took his hand away, Chu Mu felt refreshed. What appeared before him was a spotless sky, as enchanting as a gemstone.
This scene overlapped with the scene in Chu Mu’s memory. It was an airs.p.a.ce completely separate from the Wind Belt and had a blue sky.
Chu Mu looked around, as he knew that beneath this blue sky there must have been many black whirlwinds, which were the warm wind nests of the Wind-binding Spirits and many other Wind-type elves…
But, to Chu Mu’s surprise, under the blue sky, he saw no black wind nests at all.
The sky was empty, as if there were no houses in the tribe, giving a strange feeling of desolation.
Even though Chu Mu searched everywhere, he couldn’t find any of the wind creatures that should have been part of this tribe. Those cheerful little beings Chu Mu saw in his memory were nowhere to be found…
