Chapter 35
Meeting Love Around The Corner, Wait for My Good News!
After dinner, Mother Luo took the supplements that her best friend had given her and happily held her husband’s arm as they went home.
Luo Feng was responsible for sending Ai Tingya back to the orphanage.
He held Ai Tingya’s hand and walked slowly along the road towards the orphanage.
Ai Tingya held her round stomach and inched around in pain.
Luo Feng held her hand as they sat by the roadside. His heart ached as he said, “If you can’t eat, then don’t eat. My mom won’t say anything.” After saying that, he also burped. The portion that he helped to eat might have burst Ai Tingya’s stomach open.
“Auntie will have a bad impression of me if I don’t eat it.” Ai Tingya said aggrievedly.
Luo Feng was amused and asked the obvious, “Why do you want to create such a good impression? Do you want to marry into our family?”
Ai Tingya slapped him and scolded jokingly, “Annoying person! Do you want me to say it? Who said that you want to walk the future with me? Don’t you know what I mean?”
“Spare me, spare me. I said it. I know you want to build a good relations.h.i.+p with your mother-in-law. I’ll help you in the future, okay?”
“Hey, who’s your wife?” Ai Tingya pouted cutely.
The two of them sat on a bench by the road and leaned against each other. They were like a sweet couple, enjoying the time that only belonged to the two of them.
Across the street was a bright billboard with a movie poster of the t.i.tanic. It was the cla.s.sic scene of Jack and Ruth standing at the bow.
It was an old movie that had been re-released. They had heard of its reputation even if they had not seen it before. The cla.s.sic theme songs had been a favorite music of the malls for a period of time.
Luo Feng noticed that Ai Tingya was staring at the poster in a daze.
For children in orphanages, amus.e.m.e.nt parks, zoos, and movie theaters should be the most unfamiliar terms. Consumer entertainment was quite a luxury for them.
Thinking of this, Luo Feng’s heart ached.
He took Ai Tingya’s hand and said, “Let’s go watch a movie since we’re already here.”
Mother Luo went to school to pick them up today for the meal. They had skipped the evening self-study and so it was a waste of a good opportunity to go back like this.
Ai Tingya was overjoyed for a moment. Her eyes shone with yearning as she looked at the poster. However, it was only for a moment. She thought for a moment and said, “Forget it. I can’t sit still. I’d better take a walk.”
“Student Ai Tingya, don’t you know that exercising immediately after a meal makes your stomach sag? Sitting quietly for a while is the right thing to do.” Luo Feng pulled her towards the cinema without any explanation.
Ai Tingya couldn’t dissuade him, so she could only stand aside and watch Luo Feng buy the tickets.
His luck wasn’t bad. The next movie will start in ten minutes. Luo Feng bought two bottles of soda and a large bucket of popcorn.
The two of them walked into the hall. The big screen was already showing advertis.e.m.e.nts.
Luo Feng held Ai Tingya’s hand and found a spot in the dark. A boy sat down alone not far from them.
Love movies were basically watched by couples. It was just like how eating hotpot alone could easily attract the pity of others. If one was alone, one would inevitably be looked at twice.
Ai Tingya looked sideways and was attracted by the other facilities in the theater.
She couldn’t sit still and touched her left and right like a curious baby.
“First time watching a movie?” Luo Feng asked.
Ai Tingya nodded. “The orphanage organized an open-air movie once during the New Year. This is the first time I’ve come to the cinema.”
Some charity organizations will arrange entertainment activities for the orphanage, but it’s still rare to watch a movie outdoors in the winter. Luo Feng could imagine the children of the orphanage huddled together and squatting in front of the curtain expectantly.
Their expressions might be the same as Ai Tingya’s, as if they were waiting for a new world to open.
Luo Feng felt a bit sad. He handed over the popcorn and said, “Try it.”
The rich milky fragrance tempted Ai Tingya. Even though she had just eaten until she was bloated, she could not resist the temptation. She grabbed two and threw them into her mouth. “They’re so sweet!”
She grabbed a handful and ate a few before saying worriedly. “I can’t eat much. It’s a pity. My stomach will swell after drinking soda.”
Luo Feng looked at Ai Tingya, who was both happy and worried. He patted her head and said, “Eat as much as you can. Next time, I’ll bring you over if you want to eat. Anytime.”
Ai Tingya pouted and said, “Once is enough. Don’t waste money.”
As she spoke, she grabbed two more handfuls and stuffed them into her mouth, forgetting about her bloatedness.
The movie started and everyone fell silent.
Luo Feng yawned in boredom. He had experienced the highest level of Dolby Cinema before, so this movie was no different from an open-air movie.
Moreover, romance films were too dull for him.
He tilted his head and stared at Ai Tingya’s profile. He realized that she was completely immersed in the movie plot. She would be happy when Jack won the lottery. She would be sad about Ruth’s troubled family marriage.
So much so that she forgot to retract her hand that was holding the popcorn.
Luo Feng took the hand that was in the popcorn bucket, carefully wiped off the popcorn crumbs on it and gently held it.
In the dark, it was most suitable for couples to hold hands.
At this moment, the boy who had been noticed by Ai Tingya held his phone. The lit screen stopped at the text message interface.
“Sorry, I’m not coming.” The rejection was simple and cruel.
The boy held two buckets of popcorn with a sad face and took two bites as if he was taking revenge. He had originally asked his G.o.ddess out to get closer to her, but who knew that she would stand him up? He had treated her so well in vain. Even if he spent all the money he saved by eating instant noodles, he would not be able to buy her heart.
“Sigh…” The boy let out a long sigh.
The romance movie on the big screen was also a form of mockery for him. He wanted to leave, but he felt that the ticket price was too expensive and it was not worth it to leave.
It seemed that everything except the screen had become interesting. The boy’s gaze drifted around in the darkness.
Suddenly, a beautiful face not far away attracted his attention.
There was a beautiful girl sitting a few seats away. Even though the lights in the cinema were dim, the blurry light had a gentle effect. The outline of her exquisite face was still very clear.
The boy subconsciously s.h.i.+vered— He had never seen a girl as exquisite as a statue.
It was often said that the heavens had their own will. He felt that perhaps he was stood up tonight to bid farewell to the past and welcome a brand new relations.h.i.+p!
He really needed someone’s encouragement to have the courage to put it into practice.
The boy picked up his phone again and sent a message to his buddy. “Brother, I’ve met my true love. Encourage me to confess!”
“Deng Yang, are you joking? Didn’t you confess to Jiang Xiaoyu a long time ago? How did you meet your true love again?”
The boy called Deng Yang said excitedly, “Jiang Xiaoyu is already in the past. I fell in love with a girl at first sight. Tell me that men need to be decisive! I want to confess to her immediately!”
“Uh… um… good luck.” The other party hesitated and only replied with a few words.
“Thank you, brother! Wait for my good news!”
