Fairy Tail Collapsing Stars Chapter 321
“What… what is going on?”
“Lord Zeref, our great creator, the Black Mage Zeref, someone of such immense power—why does he have such a close relations.h.i.+p with this human?”
“I don’t understand, I don’t understand at all…”
Seilah, from Tartaros, looked panicked, her eyes full of confusion. She couldn’t comprehend why the great Zeref, who had abandoned their demons, would choose to a.s.sociate with a human.
Zeref was supposed to be an untouchable figure, above both humans and demons, someone they could only serve by reviving the great Fire Demon END. This would fulfill their long-held desire to return to Zeref’s side and realize his grand vision.
But why did the invincible Zeref smile so warmly at a mere human? Why did he show such kindness to this human, who never spared them a glance? This was beyond Seilah’s understanding…
It contradicted everything she knew and had heard about Tartaros.
“Oh? Still not talking~”
“Such a stubborn one~”
Evan looked at the trembling Seilah and lightly pointed at her.
“Ah~”
Seilah felt a strange sensation from the ropes binding her, her face flus.h.i.+ng. Her dark eyes glared fiercely at Evan.
“You… you really have a nasty personality! Lord Zeref must have been mistaken to choose to converse with a human like you! As Zeref’s creations, we must solve this problem and reveal your true nature so that Zeref will despise you and destroy you!”
Seilah thought long and hard, trying to come up with the most venomous insult, but the best she could muster was calling Evan nasty. To Seilah, the worst curse was to be hated by their great creator, the Black Mage Zeref. She believed Evan must be trembling with fear from her outburst.
“Pfft…”
Evan couldn’t help but laugh.
He had been trained not to laugh unless he couldn’t help it.
“So, all of Zeref’s creations are like you?”
Evan chuckled, finding Seilah’s behavior somewhat endearing, and asked her softly.
“What do you mean by that? Are you mocking us, the great demons?”
Seilah felt a huge blow to her pride, her face flus.h.i.+ng even more as she puffed her cheeks in anger at Evan.
“No, no, how could I mock you? After all, you are Zeref’s creations~”
“Even if Zeref considers you as failures, I wouldn’t mock you~”
“Even if Zeref thinks your actions over the past 400 years are meaningless, like headless flies buzzing around the continent, I still wouldn’t mock you~”
“Even if your guild master is within Fairy Tail and you are clueless about it, I still wouldn’t mock you~”
Evan waved dismissively at Seilah. He wasn’t looking down on the demons; Zeref’s demons were the closest thing to humans creating life from nothing.
In fact, considering Natsu, Zeref had already achieved life creation, infringing upon divine powers.
It was a different kind of magic compared to what Evan and Irene did, which involved attaching personalities to objects.
Zeref’s creations were independent beings capable of thought, unlike the personalities crafted by Evan and Irene, which operated based on their designs.
“So, we are just meaningless failures?”
“You say you’re not mocking us, but your words are full of disdain…”
“I really hate humans.”
Seilah’s eyes showed a glimmer of sorrow. They prided themselves on being superior, yet to Zeref, they were mere failures. Everything they did was for Zeref, to fulfill his desires.
In the eyes of Tartaros’ demons, the Black Mage Zeref was like a G.o.d.
“Oh~ Not bad! You’re beginning to exhibit human emotions.”
Evan’s eyes lit up as he noticed Seilah’s flicker of sorrow. This indicated she was becoming more human, which he saw as a positive sign.
Or perhaps Zeref’s creations had the potential to become human, though some demons resisted, seeing humans as inferior.
“Nonsense! We are great demons, Zeref’s high creations. How could we be like humans?”
“Humans are foolish creatures, like in your stories filled with boring compa.s.sion. We demons never have compa.s.sion in our stories!”
Seilah trembled and angrily retorted, fearing that Evan might be right.
“Hahaha, you’re so naive~”
“You actually believe human stories…”
Evan laughed heartily and picked up the book Seilah had dropped. After skimming through it in five minutes, he concluded that it wasn’t as dark as some human novels he knew of.
“What do you mean?”
Seilah blushed as if her secret had been revealed, anxiously questioning Evan.
“If you want to understand humans, don’t read our stories. Most of them are beautified.”
“To truly understand humans, you should study our history. No matter how beautified, history is filled with endless wars and slaughter.”
“Though it’s nothing to be proud of, I must say, naive demon lady, that no creature understands war and the art of killing better than humans, not even demons~”
Evan wasn’t boasting, just stating facts. Zeref, who created the demons, was human. Irene, who created Dragon Slayer Magic, was human. Acnologia, who ended the dragon’s reign and nearly wiped out Dragon Slayers, was human. And the one who turned against the great human hero, the Dragon Queen Irene, was also human.
“By the way, your great creator Zeref is human. You demons of Tartaros, who pride yourselves as Zeref’s library, are indeed magical books written by him. You are living stories written by a human~”
“So, demon lady, when you look down on human stories, you’re actually looking down on yourself~”
Evan closed Seilah’s book, placing it on a nearby table, and smiled at the demoness, who was tied up and suspended from the ceiling.
“We are stories written by humans?”
This was the first time Seilah had heard anyone call them stories.
“When Zeref created you, he probably had hopes and dreams for the future~”
“So calling you fairy tales isn’t entirely wrong…”
“I’m working towards a future Zeref and I discussed, one he hopes for. But the future you aim for is what you think Zeref wants, while he no longer has any expectations from you…”
“You claim to act for Zeref’s sake, but your actions diverge from his wishes. You’re on the wrong path…”
“If you truly want to return to Zeref and fulfill his desires, you should stop everything you’re doing and help me~”
“By the way, your story was quite boring and wouldn’t sell well in the human world.”
Evan thought about Zeref’s probable hopes when creating the demons and how they have now become purposeless. Instead of doing meaningless things for Zeref, having them work for him would be better.
Seilah’s story didn’t impress Evan. It lacked darkness and sunlight, making it dull. Moreover, Seilah’s use of the first person, combined with her lack of writing skills, made it hard to understand.
“Uh…”
Seilah blushed, feeling angry. Evan had criticized their actions, read her book without permission, and then dismissed it. His behavior seemed worse than a demon’s.
“Anyway, demon lady, please tell me the exact location of Tartaros~”
“After all, you wouldn’t want to be hated by your guild master END and your creator Zeref, would you?”
Evan adjusted Seilah’s face, making her look him in the eyes, smiling gently as he spoke.
“I…”
Seilah was conflicted. Should she reveal Tartaros’ location? But as Evan said, if they were merely stories created by Zeref to build a better future, perhaps listening to Evan was the right choice.
After all, they hadn’t seen Zeref in 400 years and didn’t know his current desires.
“Foolish, foolish human, I’ll tell you. Just stop talking…”
Seilah reluctantly turned away. This lowly human just wanted to know Tartaros’ location. Why did he have to invalidate everything they had done for 400 years?
The thought of being hated by Zeref and END made Seilah s.h.i.+ver.
“Where did this seductive demoness come from? Did Zeref create Seilah with some special fetish in mind?”
Evan pondered, watching the beautiful, voluptuous demoness, wondering if Zeref had specific preferences when creating her.
“No, I must tell Mavis about this~”
“I can use this to threaten Zeref later~”
Evan decided to inform Mavis about Seilah, ensuring harmony within their guild. But first, he would use this information to extract benefits from Zeref.
“Can you let me down now?”
Seilah glared at Evan.
“Snap~”
Evan snapped his fingers, and Seilah was gently lowered to the ground.
“Humph!”
Seilah stabilized herself, her face regaining its usual coldness, and s.n.a.t.c.hed her book from the table, hiding it behind her.
“No need to hide it, I’ve already read it…”
Evan wasn’t a monster and decided to be honest with Seilah.
“Devil, demon! I finally understand why Zeref abandoned us for you~”
“You’re worse than a demon…”
Seilah stomped her foot in frustration, unable to defeat or out-talk Evan.
“Alright, let’s go~”
Evan patted Seilah’s head, smiled, and vanished.
When he reappeared, he was holding a beautiful white-haired girl.
“This girl is…”
Seilah was puzzled.
“Her name is Mirajane. She uses Take Over magic to control demons’ souls…”
Evan explained,
smiling at Seilah.
“Uh…”
Seilah’s expression changed, sweat forming on her forehead.
Take Over meant absolute control over a demon’s soul. Mirajane was the kind of mage demons hated the most.
“What do you plan to do with her?”
Seilah asked, worried.
“Haha, isn’t it obvious?”
Evan laughed.
“It’s been over 400 years since Zeref created you. Who knows if there are demons in Tartaros who might rebel?”
“If any demon refuses to follow my orders, it would be difficult for me~”
“Killing them isn’t an option, as it would be a waste. You demons are valuable a.s.sets to me~”
“So, to ensure maximum efficiency, any disobedient demon will be beaten half to death and taken over by Mirajane. They’ll continue to serve Fairy Tail in soul form~”
Evan shared his plan with Seilah, smiling.
“How terrifying! This guy is scarier than a demon!”
“Even in death, he won’t let us go. He’s truly a demon!”
Seilah s.h.i.+vered in fear, realizing Evan was more terrifying than any demon she had encountered.
