Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287 Playing Cards
Sixth sister dragged Su Qing away.
“We’re about to eat, what’s with playing cards? No playing.” Su Qing was unwilling to go but still got dragged over and pushed right into her seat.
“We’re one player short; we’ve been waiting for you!”
“Didn’t Big sister say she wanted to do prenatal education? Be careful, or the baby will come out knowing how to play cards.” Su Qing teased, causing both Su Wen and Zhou Hengyang to chuckle unwillingly.
“That would be great, it means the baby’s smart,” Sixth sister chimed in with a mischievous grin.
Su Qing gave Sixth sister a glance and asked coldly, “Have you finished your holiday homework?”
Sixth sister was on the verge of tears, “During the New Year’s, can you not bring up such a depressing topic, Second sister?” She found that ever since Big sister got pregnant, Second sister had become more strict.
Su Qing didn’t pursue it further; she decided to let it slide for today’s New Year celebration.
The four took their seats, with Su Wen and Zhou Hengyang facing each other, and Su Qing and Sixth sister facing each other. According to Sixth sister, sitting this way prevented brother-in-law from going easy on Big sister, which made Su Wen sneak a laugh as Su Qing helplessly shook her head.
This little fool, whether brother-in-law and Big sister sat together or not, he could still go easy on her, and do it in a way that n.o.body else could see.
Zhou Hengyang shuffled the cards, his hands moving so fast they were a blur, his slender fingers swiftly shuffling the deck and then extracting eight cards to set aside before dealing, turning up a three of hearts as the starting card.
As soon as Su Wen saw the three of hearts, she immediately showed her disdain, “What kind of card is that for a landlord? Hengyang, what kind of luck is this?”
Zhou Hengyang glanced at Su Wen but said nothing.
“Let’s start.”
The four of them played cards happily. In the first round, the landlord card was grabbed by Su Qing. Even though it was the tiny three, she ended up with five of them, instantly bringing a smile to her face. This caught the discreet glances of Zhou Hengyang and Su Wen, who then exchanged knowing looks with each other.
Su Qing was not foolish; she immediately realized that Big sister and brother-in-law had seen through her reaction and determined not to let them read her in the future.
“Anyone wants to be the landlord? If not, others can take it.”
“Of course,” was the reply.
Su Qing reluctantly grabbed the eight base cards, while others who had finished their tasks came to watch, adding to the bustle behind each of the four players. The New Year’s celebration was in full swing today, especially since Su Jun had only returned in the morning, and Zhou Hengyang had been out on an errand until now.
The noise of offering advice, preventing side conversations, and accusing Zhou Hengyang of deliberately losing was non-stop.
“I want to report, brother-in-law is counting cards; he deliberately calculated the landlord card while shuffling, and gave Big sister the joker,” Su Jun said righteously, raising his right hand, “You fools didn’t even notice, too silly.”
The crowd was baffled, “…” Could he really count that far ahead? Was that even possible?
Although Zhou Hengyang kept quiet, his ears couldn’t help but turn red with embarra.s.sment. Su Wen knew him too well and could spot the signs immediately, so she couldn’t help but smile victoriously, her mouth curving up broadly.
See! Her Hengyang is smart, impressive, and so capable.
The sisters all cast reproachful looks at brother-in-law.
“Cough cough.” Zhou Hengyang coughed awkwardly, promising it would never happen again, managing to avert disaster.
“I want to report, just now Big sister kicked brother-in-law under the table,” Su Jun declared seriously, raising his hand.
“I want to report, Second sister deliberately didn’t play a card she had,” Su Jun continued to raise his hand.
“I also want to report, Sixth sister is cheating.”
“I…”
