Chapter 346 - 346 Die Happy
346 Die Happy
While waiting for Xue Sifu to return from town, Jiang Yue and Xue Yan helped the family dry the rice noodles they had made. When they couldn’t reach, they would stand on a stool to dry the rice noodles on a bamboo pole.
After a while, Xue Sifu and Xue Wufu returned from the town.
As soon as Xue Wufu arrived at his house, he didn’t even wait for Xue Yifu to open the courtyard door and began talking.
“Jiang Yue, Xue Yan, how’s your cooking coming along? Sifu and I had a fight in town today and said that you’d definitely be able to figure it out.
“That town is too lively, especially for those who come to our stalls to eat rice noodles. I only heard you guys talk about it before but I didn’t believe it. Now that I’ve seen it, it makes me so happy. Sifu said that if I want to go tomorrow, he’ll let me go.”
As soon as Xue Yifu opened the door to the courtyard, Xue Wufu moved like a monkey. He carried two empty baskets from the ox cart and carried them in. One of the baskets was used to store vegetables, and the other was used to store dry rice noodles. They were all sold out today, and the cold rice noodles were the best-selling meal.
Xue Yifu came out and helped Xue Sifu unload the other things from the ox cart and carry them into the house. He smiled and said, “They really managed to figure out a different kind of food today. They worked really hard. It made all our hearts ache.”
“Really?” This was shouted by Xue Wufu, who had already entered the courtyard.
“Isn’t it true? Yifu wouldn’t lie.” Liu Guixia laughed gleefully while she was still eating.
“What did you make? Let me see, let me see.” Xue Wufu was so anxious that he searched the entire yard but couldn’t find anything.
“It’s over here.” Xue Yan smiled helplessly and took away the sieve on the basin, revealing a plate of liangpi stacked together.
“What’s this?” Xue Wufu stared at it. “Why are there so many layers? Is this a pancake? It doesn’t feel like it though.” If he were to sell it layer by layer, it would be too thin. If he were to sell it in such a large amount, it would be too thick. When he looked at the single layer, it seemed to be quite transparent.
Xue Sifu also walked over to take a look and started to think about how to sell it.
Yu Hongyan walked over and said with a smile, “Jiang Yue said that we can cut them into broad strips and sell them one by one. We can add some cuc.u.mbers and seasonings to each piece. Later, we’ll probably have a bowl to try. Anyway, we tried the dough, it’s very chewy and smooth. When it was just taken out of the pot, we all had a bite. The taste is completely different from rice noodles. It’s obviously made of the same flour. However, it’ll be made into a cold dish. Jiang Yue even thought of a name for it. It’s called liangpi, don’t you think it’s appropriate?”
Xue Sifu’s eyes brightened.
Xue Wufu was overjoyed and kept saying, “Then hurry up and make the seasoning. I want to give it a try!”
“I was just waiting for you to come back. The condiments and vegetables have been prepared by Jiang Yue and Xue Yan.” Liu Guixia said with a smile.
Xue Sifu smiled. “You don’t need to be in such a hurry. After I unload the ox cart, I still have to send the cattle to the cowshed. I still have to feed them too.”
“Let Yifu go, he has been home the whole day helping out. It would be a good walk for him.” Liu Guixia said with a smile.
Xue Yifu laughed naively. “That’s right, I’ll go. I’ve already seen how they did it. I don’t need to know. It’ll be good for us to make this and sell them in town in the future.”
“That’s fine too,” Xue Sifu laughed.
Hence, Xue Yifu left to handle these matters.
Only then did Jiang Yue let Xue Yan cut a few pieces of liangpi into wide strips. Xue Sifu hurriedly washed his hands and it was his turn. He was much better than Xue Yan in doing these things.
