Chapter 397: Yan Wei’s Ideal Man
Soon, the café was nearly empty, as everyone was afraid that Zhang Shou might direct his anger on them if they stayed in his immediate vicinity.
That was, everyone except Yang Nianand his cla.s.smates.
They all came from Beijing, after all, and had the weight of their family’s power behind their backs. Some local tyrant from the suburbs could do nothing to shake them.
More importantly, Yan Weiwas too interested inCheng Yanto just walk away and let this opportunity pa.s.s by her.
He really ticked all the boxes in her list of standards for the ideal man.
!!Even as she watched him beat Zhang Shouto a pulp, all she could feel was a s.h.i.+ver of excitement.
She could just imagine having all that fervor devoted to her.
Not only was he handsome, but he also appeared to be a force of nature.
After receiving one last blow, Zhang Shoufell unconscious alongside his men.
Yao Tang clicked her tongue atCheng Yan’s ruthlessness. These people were truly unfortunate, though she supposed they had brought this upon themselves.
Considering what Cheng Yancould d to his worst enemies, this was but a light punishment.
He straightened now, dusted his trousers, and b.u.t.toned up his sleeves.
He ran a hand through his hair before turning to Yao Tang. “Did that scare you?”
“Not at all,” Yao Tangreplied with a faint smile.
“It seems like they’ve really upset you.”
“Hmm,” Cheng Yannodded. “If they weren’t so ugly, maybe I would have held back my punches just a little.”
He looked around to find that the staff of the café had all disappeared somewhere. In fact, they had fled with most of the customers in the heat of the fight.
And so, Cheng Yantook it upon himself to drag the senseless thugs out of the establishment. He tossed them to the sidewalk and rearranged the chairs to their proper places.
Pretty soon, the place looked normal again, as if the violent brawl had never occurred.
Moments later, the sound of police sirens approached, and several police cars screeched to a halt outside.
They hauled the four men to their vehicles and left without saying anything. They didn’t even enter the establishment.
When the customers—who had stuck around in the streets to see the ending to the debacle—saw this, they became all the more certain that the handsome young man was no ordinary person.
They exchanged meaningful glances and snide smiles. Zhang Shouwas definitely going to regret this day.
Qin Man was cowering in a corner as everything unfolded, her face a mask of disbelief. She struggled to make sense of everything that had happened.
It wasn’t until the sirens rang again that she jolted back to her senses.
She was scared out of her wits as she watched the police cars drive away.
Qin Man might be a tough woman with a strong personality and a cruel tongue, but she was still the madam of a rich family.
She had never experienced anything like this in all her life.
The moment Cheng Yanlaunched his attack, she scampered out of the way and kept her head down. She didn’t dare to even look at the man for fear that she might get involved in his rampage.
Through it all, she had only one thought running in her mind—
How did Yao Tangmeet this man?
He was clearly powerful, seeing as he didn’t hesitate to go up against Zhang Shou. Not only that, but he had the physical prowess to match as well. He was unlike the typical young mastersQin Manhad encountered in the past.
But now that she thought about it, perhaps he wasn’t the young master of a notable family at all. With that thought in mind, Qin Mansquared her shoulders and peered atCheng Yan.
“Sir, I believe there has been a misunderstanding. Allow me to explain the circ.u.mstances. President Zhang is Yao Tang’s fiancé. They are about to get married as soon as the details are finalized. I can see that you are unwilling to let her go, but I hope that you would putYao Tang’s well-being before your selfish interests. This is for her own good, so I expect that you will not interfere any more than this.”
She looked him up and down with disdain before adding, “This incident will tarnish her reputation. And yours, too, if you have any to speak of at all.”
“Fiancé?” Cheng Yanrepeated, his eyes flas.h.i.+ng with a dangerous glint. “And who might you be?”
Qin Man’s lips twitched at his arrogance. “I am her aunt. If she made any promises to you, I’m telling you now that they don’t mean anything. She’s just a young and naive girl who doesn’t know any better.”
Despite her fears and the violence that had been inflicted upon President Zhang just now, Qin Mandidn’t back down. She was confident thatCheng Yanwouldn’t hit a woman, especially not in public.
She was glad that she’d been made to say out loud that she was Yao Tang’s aunt. Surely, the man wouldn’t a.s.sault a relative of his paramour.
Well, if the man insisted on his pursuit of Yao Tang, perhapsQin Mancould make some adjustments to her plans. Either way, it would still benefitRanran’s prospects with theYoung Master Yang.
The thing was, she simply couldn’t bear to see Yao Tanglive a good life with this outstanding young man.
The idea alone made Qin Mansick, though she couldn’t explain why, exactly. Perhaps she just loathedYao Tangthat much.
Besides, this might become another point of contention between her and Ranranin the future.
After mulling it over, Qin Manresolved to stick to her original plan. “Do you see now?Yao Tangand her fiancé just had a bit of a quarrel, that’s all. It’s quite natural for teenagers to be tempestuous from time to time.”
