Chapter 0803 – Loss of Control

Everyone in the wide training field was stunned as they stared at the heavily injured Zhong Ling. After a long while, some people recovered from the shock and glanced over at Li Luo with dazed expressions.

Zhao Yanzhi and the trio were exceptionally surprised by this development. Knowing his personality, they had expected that Li Luo would not tolerate Zhong Ling, but they had not expected him to be so crude and violent about it.

Before the gazes of the crowd, Li Luo appeared to be deeply remorseful over it as he said, "Guys, there was a mistake earlier as this is my first time controlling the power of the Green Nether Banner's Harmony. There was a backlash of power from Harmony earlier, and unfortunately, Zhong Ling was at the spot where it happened."

The crowd remained dead silent over it. Zhong Ling was truly unlucky, but... was that energy really him losing control over Harmony, or was it their Banner Leader venting his dissatisfaction towards Zhong Ling?

Nonetheless, no one said anything about it. With the enormous torrent of energy still hovering above them, they were all smart enough to keep this thought to themselves.

Now the authority commanded by Li Luo was multiple times more solid than before.

Although this was largely due to the power of Harmony from the eight thousand banner members, Li Luo would not budge even in the face of a Duke with his current strength.

They all understood what it truly represented when the Banner Leader obtained control of Harmony from the whole Banner.

From now on, Li Luo was truly their leader.

As such, none of the banner members raised any complaints against their almighty leader; not even Zhong Ling's confidants made any noises.

"Sub Leader Zhong Ling has been gravely injured. As a sign of my apology, I will grant him half a year of leave. During this period, he will continue to receive the same monthly stipends as always," Li Luo announced.

Hearing this, some of the banner members bit their lips. Half a year of leave? What a nice way to put it... Everyone knew that Zhong Ling had been recommended to the Green Nether Banner by the Second Hall Master, Zhong Yus.h.i.+. Even though Li Luo was the Banner Leader, he would need a strong reason to kick Zhong Ling out. Moreover, he would have to report it to the Second Hall Master and get his approval to finish the whole process officially.

Even with his prestigious background, the Second Hall Master was bound to come up with some sort of excuse and drag things out, hindering Li Luo's control over the Green Nether Banner.

But who would have thought that Li Luo would suddenly change his tune? Instead of kicking Zhong Ling out directly... he had found a legitimate reason for Zhong Ling to spend time recuperating! However, wasn't half a year of rest simply too long? What was the difference between that and half a year of exile?

By the time Zhong Ling returned, he would be long forgotten by the first division.

In that sense, although Li Luo's sudden move appeared rough at first glance, it was actually a pretty effective move as long as he could defend himself against the Second Hall Master's accusations.

After all, as long as Li Luo insisted that he truly had lost control, there was nothing the Second Hall Master could do to him, even if he did not believe Li Luo.

"In the meantime, Zhou Shanhe will take over as the Sub Leader of the first division whilst Sub Leader Zhong Ling recuperates," Li Luo ordered as he turned his gaze towards the first division.

Amidst the crowd, Zhou Shanhe was surprised by this news at first. However, he soon lit up with delight as he replied, "As you command, Banner Leader!"

The other members of the first division started chattering among themselves at this sudden development. Zhou Shanhe was not as qualified as Zhong Ling for sure. However, the commotion soon died down as Zhou Shanhe was still an elite within the first division.

Even the small number of hardcore Zhong Ling supporters did not dare to voice any opposition. If even Zhong Ling, who had a strong backing, was injured so badly, they could not imagine what would happen if they dared to protest now.

At this moment, their loyalty towards Zhong Ling was weakened considerably.

"Everyone, the loss of control over this ocean of energy was an accident. I will keep this in mind and be more careful next time. That being said, from now on, we need to stand united as one banner. Only then can we regain the past glory of the Green Nether Banner," Li Luo said with a deep voice.

The eight thousand banner members in the training field listened to his words in awe.

Standing up, Li Luo asked them, "So... how did Zhong Ling get injured?"

Everyone hesitated for a moment before some of the astute ones replied back loudly, "It was due to a temporary loss of control over the energy achieved by Harmony, Banner Leader!"

Li Luo smiled pleasantly at the response, then he continued, "I hope that everyone can stay united as one. Anyone who breaks this unity will be destroying our dream. If that happens, there will be no place left for that person in the Dragon's Fang Lineage!"

When he finished his statement, the crowd cheered in agreement.

As for the hardcore supporters of Zhong Ling, they merely shook in fear amidst the loud cheers. They understood that Li Luo’s words were directed at them, implicitly threatening them.

Anyone who dared to disrupt the unity of the Green Nether Banner could forget about staying on in the Dragon's Fang Lineage!

If those words had come out from others, it might not have been so terrifying. But Li Luo was different. With his background, he was one of the few who dared to speak so arrogantly.

Finally, Li Luo dispersed the state of Harmony and then watched his men carry the injured Zhong Ling away.

When the energy from Harmony faded away, Li Luo could not help but feel a pang of emptiness and disappointment. The immense power was truly alluring, being far stronger than the Harmony he had experienced with just the fifth division.

After being able to wield such mighty power with impunity, it would not be surprising if one started to hallucinate and get drunk over this immense power.

Li Luo sighed and then his eyes regained their clarity. Although it was indeed a very strong power, it was not enough for him to become completely obsessed with it just yet.

Thankfully, his first attempt at Harmony with the Green Nether Banner was a much better success than he had antic.i.p.ated. Not only had he learned to control its immense power, he had also removed the biggest hurdle hidden in the Green Nether Banner.

There would be no place left for Zhong Ling in the Green Nether Banner after he returned from his recuperation.

Gradually, the banner members started to leave the training field. They were lively and high-spirited as they kept whispering to each other. However, they were not talking about the incident with Zhong Ling. They were excited about Li Luo's success with his first attempt in Harmony.

They knew very well how exceptional this success was. Once news of what had happened today spread out, everyone would be paying attention to the Green Nether Banner.

Perhaps they really could return to the glorious days of the Green Nether Banner under the leaders.h.i.+p of their new Banner Leader.

"Yanzhi, we need to select the best members over the next two days and turn the fifth division into the vanguard team. We have to prepare for the next Fiendish Devil Cave expedition," Li Luo reminded Zhao Yanzhi.

Zhao Yanzhi nodded and replied with a sweet smile, "Banner Leader, I have thought of many ways to kick Zhong Ling out, but there were none as efficient as yours."

Li Luo responded seriously, "It has nothing to do with me, the energy went out of control. Zhong Ling was just unlucky."

With a slightly hidden smile, Zhao Yanzhi continued, "Let me get someone to pay him a visit in your name every two days and express our remorse for the mistake. We hope that he will take care and get well soon. Everyone in the Green Nether Banner will be looking forward to his return. Does that sound good?"

Hearing this, Li Luo was taken aback for a moment. Meanwhile, Li s.h.i.+ and Mu Bi glanced over at Zhao Yanzhi, who was smiling charmingly at her own suggestion.

How ruthless! Wouldn't that make Zhong Ling jump out of his bed in anger?

Furthermore, a visit every two days? Clearly, there was no intention to let Zhong Ling get any better, was there?

Li Luo might have accidentally harmed him physically, but Zhao Yanzhi would destroy his soul.
