Chapter 294: Who Exactly Are You?
Chu Nan helplessly rolled his eyes and walked over to look at her from head to toe. He saw that her movements were normal and her expression was natural. Apart from her image changing drastically, she was not much different from the last time he saw her.
“Why did you suddenly change your appearance?”
“It can’t be helped. Because of what happened last time, Uncle was scolded by the higher-ups of the Chamber of Commerce. Uncle said that if I want to continue working here, I have to change my image, so look…” Susan tugged at her collar and revealed an uncomfortable expression, “I’ve been wearing this outfit for a week, but I’m still not used to it. I really don’t know what those guys think is good about wearing it every day.”
Chu Nan laughed.
“This is the unspoken rule. You have to get used to it even if you’re not. In addition, you look much more pleasing to the eye than the last time. I’m serious.”
!!“Is that so?” Susan glanced at Chu Nan, “Forget it, as long as you think it’s pleasing to the eye. After all, it’s a guest valued by the Chamber of Commerce. You have the final say.”
As she spoke, Susan opened the car door beside her and gestured invitingly.
“Please.”
Chu Nan smiled and got into the shuttle from the other side.
Susan jumped up and stepped on the ground. The shuttle left the headquarters of the Earth Federation like an arrow.
Although the appearance of this car had been changed to a very ordinary appearance, the style of Susan’s driving had not changed at all. She drove as fast as lightning and had almost no intention of slowing down.
“Hey, Susan, you’re driving so fast. Aren’t you worried that you’ll be knocked down again?” Chu Nan suddenly asked.
Susan’s expression changed slightly, and she sneered, “Those guys were long thrown into the sea to feed the fish. No one is coming to find trouble with me now.”
“Oh?” Chu Nan looked at her in surprise, “Didn’t you say that those guys are from the Night Demon Brotherhood and not to be trifled with?”
“Tsk, those guys are only peripheral members of the Night Demon Brotherhood. They think they’re from the organization, but the organization won’t admit it.”
At this point, Susan turned to look at Chu Nan curiously.
“Hey, Chu Nan, who are you?”
Chu Nan was stunned, “Why are you suddenly asking this question? Don’t you know who I am?”
“No, I don’t know.” Susan shook her head. “You clearly look younger than me, but you’re actually a Star VIP of the Noctem Chamber of Commerce. It’s really strange that the Chamber of Commerce values you so much. Do you know that the reason why those guys were thrown into the sea to feed the fish last time was because they attacked the VIP of the Noctem Chamber of Commerce? Clearly, this VIP is you. Tell me, what’s your ident.i.ty? You actually made the Noctem Chamber of Commerce stand up for you. Even the Night Demon Brotherhood feels pressured?”
“Is that so?”
Not to mention Susan, even Chu Nan was puzzled.
Although he had unexpectedly obtained the status of a Star Member of the Noctem Chamber of Commerce, in the end, his relations.h.i.+p with the Noctem Chamber of Commerce was only the relations.h.i.+p between an experimenter and an experiment individual. It was really surprising that the Noctem Chamber of Commerce treated him as such a valued VIP and was actually willing to give the Night Demon Brotherhood so much pressure because of his attack, forcing them to kill a few of their peripheral subordinates.
“Could it be because of Tahm Kench?” Chu Nan recalled the way Tahm Kench looked at him as if he was looking at a treasure and felt that this guess was a little reliable.
Perhaps in the eyes of the Noctem Chamber of Commerce, he really had such value.
“Right, Susan, speaking of the Night Demon Brotherhood, bring me to the bar you mentioned last time.” Chu Nan suddenly said, “It’s night now. That bar should be open, right?”
Squeak!
The shuttle braked with an ugly sound and suddenly stopped.
Susan looked at Chu Nan in shock, “Hey, are you joking? Are you really going to find trouble with the Night Demon Brotherhood?”
“I didn’t say I was going to find trouble with them. I’m just going to take a look.” Chu Nan shrugged.
“You’re serious?”
“Why would I lie to you?” Chu Nan asked.
Susan frowned and thought for a long time, but she shook her head forcefully.
“No. Uncle specially instructed that I can’t let anything happen to you this time, or else he and I will be in trouble. I can’t agree. In any case, my mission this time is to send you to the hotel safely. I don’t care about anything else.”
After saying that, Susan started the shuttle again and stared ahead with a firm att.i.tude of ignoring Chu Nan.
Seeing her like this, Chu Nan could not help but smile.
It seemed that after the previous incident, Susan and her uncle had suffered considerable pressure. It was not as simple as Susan changing her image.
Of course, he would not force Susan to do anything, so he was silent all the way.
It was not until the shuttle carried the two of them into downtown Los Angeles that they stopped in front of a hotel that looked very high-end.
Chu Nan got out of the car and laughed.
This hotel was the hotel where Supremacy Oville stayed yesterday.
He had only left this morning. He did not expect to return at night.
“Alright, I’ve already sent you there. After you go in, report your name directly. Someone will bring you to the room,” Susan said expressionlessly. Then, she immediately started the shuttle and disappeared.
Looking at her hurriedly as if she was escaping, it was as if she was afraid that Chu Nan would drag her to the Night Demon Brotherhood.
Looking at the shuttle disappear into the darkness, Chu Nan smiled and shook his head.
Even if Susan did not bring him there, could it be that he could not go himself?
He looked around and reached out to summon an automatic shuttle that was coincidentally parked at the entrance of the hotel. He used his personal terminal to enter the location address of the bar into the navigation of the automatic shuttle. The shuttle quickly drove away. After about twenty minutes, they arrived outside the bar.
The last time he saw this bar in the day, it was still cold and cheerless. However, now that it was night, the bar seemed to have immediately come alive. Not only were the lights of various colors flickering inside, it looked extremely lively. There were also people coming and going at the entrance of the bar. It looked like business was extremely good.
Chu Nan walked over and was stopped by two burly men standing at the door.
“Heh, this is not a place for children like you,” one of the burly men said.
The other burly man looked at Chu Nan and laughed, “Kid, I’m afraid your pubic hair hasn’t even grown, right? Hurry up and get lost and drink your mother’s milk. You’re not welcome here.”
Chu Nan frowned. He did not expect this bar to control the entry of guests.
“I’m already 18 years old. Why can’t I enter?” Chu Nan pointed at the two young men who happened to pa.s.s by him and walk into the bar. “If they can go in, why can’t I?”
“This is your first time here, right? It seems that you don’t know the rules here.” The burly man who spoke first spat at Chu Nan disdainfully, “If you want to enter, you have to show your strength.”
“What strength? Money?” Chu Nan frowned.
“That’s right. This is your first time here, so pay 10,000 dollars as a guarantee. Otherwise, don’t expect us brothers to open the door for you.”
“10,000 dollars?” Chu Nan frowned.
Just entering the door required 10,000 dollars. This was a little too exaggerated.
However, when he recalled his goal, Chu Nan gritted his teeth and raised his hand, preparing to open his personal terminal.
“Don’t listen to their nonsense.” A familiar voice sounded at this moment, “Heh, Loken, don’t bully him for not knowing anything just because he’s a newbie. If you want to extort him, you have to at least ask if I agree to it.”
