Chapter 202: Hope and Despair

"Arrrgh, this son of a b.i.t.c.h bit my leg!!!!!!" One of the Rank E security guards screamed in pain when he felt the imp's large fangs tearing off some of the meat from his leg.

When the leader of these security guards saw this, he also dropped the weapon and drew his sword from his waist, before das.h.i.+ng forward and piercing the imp's skull, causing it to fall to the dead floor, before being absorbed by a pentagram in the floor and disappear from that location.

"What the h.e.l.l is that?!" one of the security guards shouted desperately without knowing what to do. A single one of these goblins had torn a large piece of meat from the leg of one of his companions. Imagining what would happen to them if all these goblins came together to attack them simultaneously, the security guard swallowed, his mouth now dry.

But he didn't even have to imagine long, since as soon as that red goblin died, the other nineteen goblins that ran around stopped and started watching them in silence again.

Without them noticing, the five security guards froze at the sight of this, while the security guard who imagined what would happen to them if everyone attacked together began to curse himself internally for feeling that it was his fault for having imagined something like this.

The goblins did not give him time to regret his imaginings, since with a shout all nineteen goblins started running towards them with even more anger than before.

Like a swarm the goblins came from all directions, screaming wildly. To make matters worse, the goblins that pa.s.sed Jeffrey's car opened their big claws and cut the tires and the four wheels of the car completely, leaving the man inside desperate.

To say it was a slaughter would have been a compliment. Jeffrey, inside the luxury car, saw with his own eyes those nineteen goblins huddled over the security guards, disregarding their own safety and tearing at each member of those men.

In the blink of an eye, there were no longer four Blessed Rank E and one Blessed Rank D out there to protect him, but ten dismembered arms and ten legs being devoured by the goblins while some even pulled the heads off the corpses to eat, fighting other goblins for the eyes of those men as if it were a prize they each coveted.

"What sort of disgrace is this? It seems like I am in a Fortress! Why are there so many monsters right here? Did any Fortresses nearby explode and release these monsters? But the security system didn't even detect a Fortress appearing so these goblins don't make any sense appearing here... and with the strength they have, in addition to this strange suicide attack, who can defend me?" Jeffrey spoke to himself as he felt his whole body become covered in gooseb.u.mps as he s.h.i.+vered.

His only hope was the security guards who were coming to his rescue. He felt that he was lucky, since the goblins instead of coming to try to kill him right after killing the security guards were entertained with the corpses and gave him some time to breathe.

"I hope they'll be distracted long enough for the rest of the security team to arrive..." Jeffrey said to himself again.

As he ordered half the security team to come and rescue him, at least 40 Blessed would come - among them there were 8 Blessed Rank D. That strength was enough to place Jeffrey as one of the most respected businessmen in the city Eyrin, standing just below the big families with Blessed Rank C in their ranks.

As much as these little goblins were powerful, they could hardly cope with 40 Blessed. In addition to losing numerically, Jeffrey realized that their individual strength did not reach Rank D, that is, they would also lose in strength.

With the 4 goblins who died in this suicide attack and the other one who died initially, there were only 15 goblins left. If it were just those goblins, Jeffrey was confident that his security team could handle it.

"If this is the attack of some other company, they better hope that I don't find out who is the b.a.s.t.a.r.d behind it, because if I find out, you can be sure that I will rape your wife in front of you, you son of a b.i.t.c.h! And if you are a woman, you can be sure that i will be the one who will rape you for several days! The only drink you will have for days will be my s.e.m.e.n and my p.i.s.s, you s.l.u.t!"Jeffrey was seething with anger at the thought that whoever was doing this to him was some rival.

While the goblins happily ate the remains of the five security guards, 5 armored vans crossed the circle of fire that had been made around the site, and within each gap 8 heavily armed security guards came out, this time not with firearms but with the weapons they used in invasions to deal with monsters since Jeffrey had explained to them what was going on and what they needed to bring to the confrontation.

Seeing the dismembered corpses of their companions, in addition to the fifteen red goblins that were devouring what was left of the bodies of those five men, the anger of the forty security guards reached a boiling point.

Some of them had known those men, others had even considered them friends, but seeing those men being devoured by goblins - the monsters who were often represented as the weakest of the monsters inside Fortresses, it made a bad taste go down those men's throats before they started to run towards the goblins to try to exterminate them all.

When the goblins saw the humans come out of the tree line, they quickly followed the mental command they received and ran towards the nearest group without worrying about death to try to kill as many as possible.

The group of eight Blessed in front of them was so angry that they forgot their own safety and ran towards the goblins to try to kill them quickly, but because of the greater number of goblins, these eight Blessed killed only six goblins before they died.

With only nine goblins left, the other four groups came together to deal with them and killed them all.

Seeing that the scene was silent again made Jeffrey let out a relaxed sigh. For a few minutes he had believed he was really going to die, but when the forty security guards arrived, he finally believed he was fine, especially when they killed the goblins with only ten more deaths, leaving thirty guards still alive.

"Motherf.u.c.kers, your target survived! Wait until I get home and find out who the b.a.s.t.a.r.d was who ordered my death..." Jeffrey cursed inside the car, seething with anger at whoever had unleashed all these creatures to kill him.

The mood among the security guards was also one of anger: anger at having taken so long and seeing fifteen companions dead in front of them. Some felt guilty for having taken too long, feeling that if they arrived earlier the number of dead humans would not have been so high.

At that moment, a strange noise became apparent to these men and Jeffrey.

It was a strange noise for the security guards, but a noise that made Jeffrey freeze inside the car once again.

This was because the ruckus that those goblins had made had caused him to forget that strange fire unicorn that had been staring at him.

When he turned, Jeffrey saw that the unicorn's eyes were still looking directly at him, as if through the car window that unicorn could see Jeffrey and read everything in his soul.

*Gluurp...*

Jeffrey swallowed again, not knowing what to do momentarily.

Fortunately for him, the Blessed Rank D thought quickly and ran towards the lone fire-unicorn, believing that the large number of them would be enough to deal with that big monster.

Seeing the captains running towards the unicorn, the Blessed Rank E with a herd effect also ran together towards the great beast.

Jeffrey observed this and was relaxed once more. No matter how strong that unicorn was, the creature could hardly handle a siege of thirty Blessed Ones alone. It would only be a matter of time before the unicorn died, and perhaps even its corpse would leave something useful, unlike those goblins that strangely disappeared in a pentagram on the floor.

But as joy always lasts for a short time, from above that unicorn a large bright red pentagram emerged, which caused the thirty security guards to slow down and get a little worried, wanting to see what would happen before they acted.

That big red pentagram split into twenty little red pentagrams and all the pentagrams touched the ground beneath the formation.

Seeing these pentagrams touch the ground made Jeffrey and the security guards have a bad feeling.

"Those little sons of b.i.t.c.hes came out of those pentagrams... Don't tell me that..." Jeffrey was starting to be scared s.h.i.+tless from imagining what would happen when those pentagrams. .h.i.t the floor.

And so, as not to disappoint the man, when the pentagrams touched the ground twenty small red heads emerged from them, rising very slowly from the ground like weeds that had appeared to destroy a plantation, but in a much faster and more frightening way.

Seeing those twenty goblins appearing in front of them once again, the security guards for the first time let go of the anger they felt at the death of their companions and finally felt true despair.

The fear of death was clearly on the minds of everyone who was there. They knew that even if they killed those goblins that many of them would die in the ensuing battle, and none of them felt like dying today.

While hopelessness was plaguing the minds of the Blessed Rank E, the Blessed Rank D thought of something and screamed, "This is the second time that the unicorn has summoned these goblins; there should not be a third time. He must be too weak for that! Let's attack and enjoy his moment of weakness!"

Hearing this, the Blessed Rank E felt a sliver of hope had emerged. Even if many were going to die there today, some would still survive. They would just have to dedicate 110% so that they were not the unlucky ones who were going to die, but rather hope that the companion beside them was the unlucky one.

Jeffrey was even more desperate right now. At that point he didn't care about the safety of his family and used the radio to ask the other half of the mansion's security to come and save him. For him, his life was much more important than the life of his wife and son. Them he could replace later. His only had a single life, and he had to protect it.

"Just wait, you b.a.s.t.a.r.d. When forty more Blessed people get here, I want to see if you can keep yourself so imposing," Jeffrey said with hatred while looking at the unicorn who hadn't taken his eyes off of him the whole time.
