Chapter 106

They sat on the sofa and the diary was set on the coffee table.

He Shen held the pen. He stared at the horizontal lines, unable to write even a single letter.

An heirloom diary … The treasure left by Qiao Shao’s mother, a treasure that belonged to a warm family and now he could write in it.

Thinking of this, He Shen’s hand began to tremble slightly.

Qiao Shao waited patiently for him.

When He Shen finally put pen to paper, the moment the fountain pen tip poured ink onto paper, he felt his chest fill with heat.

“Hey…” Qiao Shao said, “The nib’s going to pierce the paper!”

He Shen quickly snapped out of it. He hurriedly raised the pen. He looked exactly like a primary school student learning to write for the first time.

Qiao Shao was amused by him. “Why are you so nervous?”

He Shen: “…”

Qiao Shao teased him, “Could it be that the G.o.d of learning who can submit full marks exam papers can still become nervous?”

He Shen sighed softly and said slowly, “I don’t know what to write.”

He’s never even had a complete home before. How would he know what to write on such a wonderful book?

Qiao Shao took the pen from his hand and said, “Write whatever you want. Just write whatever comes to mind…”

Saying so, he wrote his entry first, just under Qiao Zongmin’s writing, a line in his round and lovely handwriting.

He Shen stared it for a while. Qiao Shao wrote—‘He Shen Shen is useless. His hand was shaking while holding the pen. Turns out the G.o.d of learning still has times when he gets nervous.’

He Shen: “…”

Qiao Shao stopped writing and looked at him: “See? Something like this is fine too!”

As his mom had said. It doesn’t matter how much you write. What’s more important is the sharing. It’s sharing between husband and wife, father and son, and mother and son.

Even if they weren’t together the whole day, when they went home and read their family’s heirloom diary, they would know what each other did.

This was the warmest exchange and the most attentively written down beautiful memories.

He Shen nodded, picked up the pen again, and wrote the first word carefully.

Qiao Shao craned his head to look at what he was writing, wondering what this G.o.d of learning, who was sitting perfectly straight and looked as though he was facing off against a formidable enemy was going to write.

The neat and graceful writing was a little muddled at first because of the slight tremble in his hand. But overall it was still as good-looking as before, full of style.

As for the content…

Qiao Shao gave a ‘pfft’ and burst out laughing. “Are you writing an elementary school essay!”

No matter how handsome and elegant the script was, the content was undeniably elementary school level.

He Shen wrote &#k2013; &#k2018;Today’s weather was fine, I am happy &#k2026;’

Qiao Shao read it again and tilted his head to look at him. “And then?”

He Shen added five more words&#k2014;I am really, really happy.

Qiao Shao burst into loud laughter, he was almost rocking back and forth. “Are you trying to make me laugh to death!”

But He Shen was still very serious. “I can’t?”

Qiao Shao’s stomach hurt from laughing. “It’s good, it’s good. You can write anything.”

He Shen knew that what he wrote was too simple, but this was what he felt at this very moment. Every word was incomparably real. The weather was very good, his mood was very good and he was so happy that he didn’t have the words to describe it.

No matter how impressive your brain, no matter what the experiences you’ve gone through, when filled with pure-blooded emotions, you will inevitably return to your youngest self, like a child experiencing this pure, clear and instinctive happiness.

President Qiao came out of the kitchen. “Are you done? Let’s have dinner!”

Qiao Shao said, “Okay.” Saying so, he dragged He Shen by the hand to the dining room.

Da Qiao’s eyes were fixed on their hands. Qiao Shao didn’t think much of it but being stared at like this, he dazedly let go of He Shen’s hand.

Qiao Zongmin said, “Come and serve the dishes!”

Qiao Shao quickly replied, “Okay.”

He Shen wanted to help but Qiao Shao said, “You set the table.”

He Shen stayed in the dining room.

Since fathers were like mountains, tonight, Da Qiao still sat between the two of them to display his profound fatherly love.

He Shen felt a little ill at ease and so he ate slowly.

Qiao Zongmin looked at him, “Is it no good?”

He Shen immediately replied, “It’s delicious.”

Qiao Zongmin asked again, “Then why …”

Qiao Shao quickly helped He Shen out. “Dad, don’t keep scaring him.”

Qiao Zongmin wasn’t the least bit happy to hear Qiao Shao protecting He Shen. “Why, I can’t tell him to eat more?”

Qiao Shao said, “He didn’t eat much with his family, you have to let him adapt.”

This statement actually made He Shen’s hand shake slightly.

Qiao Zongmin said, “Eat more, and if there’s anything you want to eat in the future, you can tell me-…” he then forcibly changed what he was about to say, “Aunt Wu!”

Qiao Shao snickered. “Me?”

Qiao Zongmin raised his eyebrows.

Qiao Shao said, “He Shen isn’t a picky eater. He’ll eat anything.”

He Shen nodded, “En, everything tastes delicious.” As long as he can eat at this table, everything was delicious.

After the meal, there were people to clear the table. Qiao Shao pulled along He Shen. “We’re going to do our homework.”

Da Qiao couldn’t stop them. “Okay.”

Qiao Shao took He Shen to his study on the second floor. When he pushed the door in, he sighed in relief. “We’ve finally gotten away from dad’s death stare.”

Usually, when the two of them when alone together, He Shen would kiss him, but today he was very well-behaved, as if Da Qiao were in the room.

Qiao Shao whispered to him, “Do you want to live here?”

He Shen held his hand and said, “Can I really live in your house?” All along, it felt sort of unreal.

Qiao Shao said, “As long as you want it to be then this is your home.”

There was nothing that could jab his sore spot more than this sentence. He Shen wished he could hear it thousands of times.

He said, “I want to. I really, really want to.”

Qiao Shao rejoiced. “He Shen Shen, what’s wrong with you? Have you fallen in love with this sentence pattern?”

In the diary, he had written, ‘I’m happy. I’m really, really happy.’ and now, he said again, ‘I want to. I really, really want to.’

This G.o.d of learning who used to spew out naughty words all the time was now at a loss for words.

Qiao Shao still wanted to say something when there was suddenly a thumping knock on the door.

Qiao Shao said, “The door’s open.”

Qiao Zongmin came in, holding a book, “Aren’t you supposed to be doing your homework?”

Qiao Shao: “I’m looking for it right now.”

Qiao Zongmin sat in a ma.s.sage chair found in the corner and said, “Oh, finish it quickly.”

Qiao Shao then realized that his study had been tampered with. Shock was written all over this face. “Why did you put a ma.s.sage chair in here? I’m not gonna use that!”

Qiao Zongmin opened his book and said, “But I will.”

Qiao Shao was confused. “If you’re gonna use it, then put it on the third floor.”

Qiao Zongmin said unperturbed, “I’ll use it here.”

Qiao Shao: “……………………”

Can’t you just come right out and say it! Da Qiao wanted to monitor them doing their homework!

Do you really need to go this far, President Qiao? Does a tyc.o.o.n who’s every minutes is worth millions, have to do this job?

He Shen was particularly well-behaved. He changed the topic, saying, “There’s two desks?”

Good Lord! Qiao Shao realized that there was another desk beside his.

Qiao Zongmin looked at the book and said, “The ergonomic chair can only be delivered tomorrow.” The underlying message was that it has all already been arranged, so hurry up and study!

Qiao Shao: “You don’t have to sit here, we really will do our homework.”

Qiao Zongmin said, “I’m reading my book. Please keep quiet.”

Qiao Shao: “………………”

Fine. Since Da Qiao had prepared so well, he’ll put up with it for now! Besides, Da Qiao was probably doing this on a whim. He’ll probably stop coming here after a couple of days. This ma.s.sage chair … hmmm, he’ll give it to Aunt Wu. He doesn’t need it anyway!

Qiao Shao really did answer two sets of exercises with He Shen. They answered them until 10 in the evening.

Comrade Qiao Zongmin fell asleep directly on the ma.s.sage chair … Qiao Shao looked at his dead to the world pose. Why’d he even come here to keep an eye on them!

The study was all prepared so, of course, the bedroom was also prepared.

No need to think about it, He Shen could only sleep on the first floor. But the guest room on the first floor had been completely revamped. The furnis.h.i.+ngs were absolutely as good as Qiao Shao’s.

Qiao Shao deliberately inspected the mattress. “Da Qiao, this is impressive! Aren’t you supposed to order this mattress two or three months in advance?”

Qiao Zongmin said, “The expedited fee is 200,000.”

Qiao Shao clicked his tongue and said to He Shen. “Look, our Da Qiao very generous.”

He Shen said, “You didn’t have to spend so much money.”

Qiao Zongmin wasn't polite with him. “If you can be well-behaved and sleep on it then it’s money well spent.”

Qiao Shao marveled his dad’s indecent brain. He pushed him towards the door and said, “It’s getting late, go and sleep.”

Naturally, Qiao Zongmin took his son away with him. After sending Qiao Shao all the way back to his bedroom, he even told him. “Lock your door.”

Qiao Shao: “………………”

Qiao Zongmin said seriously, “Don’t do anything inappropriate, you two are still too young!”

Qiao Shao coaxed him, “Okay, okay, okay. Look, I’ll lock it now.” And with a click, he locked his dad outside his room.

His old man felt sad for a while, feeling that he would soon be marrying off his son. He then quietly went upstairs to work overtime.

Qiao Shao didn’t wash up first, instead he sent a message to He Shen. “How’s the room?”

Because of Da Qiao, he didn’t have the chance to look around.

After a while, He Shen replied with only four words. “It’s like a dream.”
