After she had finished writing down her goals for 1993, she locked them up in a little box and then lock the box in the drawer on her nightstand. Opening up the door to walk outside, Shu Yan startled Aunty who was just about to knock on her door.
“What’s up?”
“You have a call,” said Aunty quickly as she put her hand down.
“Yanyan, it’s me. Your dad fell off the roof when he was fixing the tiles and he is in the emergency room right now. He had been there for two hours now. I just came out to give you a call.”
Shu Yan was taken aback a little when she heard Shu Jianyang’s words. “Why did he go up on his own? Does he have three sons? What did the doctor say? Is it serious?”
“We don’t know yet. Your big brother mentioned that his. .h.i.t his head and seemed to have hit it on a rock as well. I can see that his face is blood-stained. It looks pretty serious. One way or another, he is your father after all so I feel that I should let you know.” It had crossed Shu Jianyang’s mind to keep it from Shu Yan so she wouldn’t have to make that difficult decision. He had decided against it after giving it some more thoughts. He was her father after all. What if something happened to him and she didn’t get to see him one last time? She might not say anything now, but she might blame him for that later on.
The future was difficult to predict. Who would have thought that a healthy individual would just fall all of a sudden? As much as Shu Yan didn’t like original owner’s parents, now that a situation had arose, she couldn’t just sit by and do nothing.
“Okay, Third Brother. Please wait at the hospital for the time being. If the doctor says it’s serious, I will head back right away.” Shu Yan sighed. Shu Jianyang made it sound very serious. If her father wasn’t going to make it, she would for sure need to take a trip back.
She couldn’t bring the children with her; they would make instant hostages. Besides, Ye Zhiqiang’s parents would find out and come make a fuzz. Returning on her own? She worried that her mother and her brothers would not let her leave again. Hesitated over it for a little bit, she gave Feng Zeyu a call.
“I don’t know what is going on with my father just yet. But if something is really happening to him, I must take a trip home. But my family? Truth is, it might be very difficult for me to leave again once I go back there, so… I recall that you work for a security company. I would like to hire a couple people to be my bodyguard.” If Shu Youfu was to die, she would for sure need to attend the funeral back in the village. She might never get to leave again then.
Feng Zeyu sat up straight. “How about me? I am… the best at my company.”
Feng Zeyu couldn't help but blushed when he said that.
Shu Yan was a little surprised. She didn’t expect that coming from Feng Zeyu. “That would be great. I worry that one of you won’t be sufficient so please look for one more person for me. That’s it for now. I need to wait for my cousin’s call.”
Shu Yan waited anxiously for a little while in her house but gotten nothing. Her heart began to sink and she needed to make some arrangements.
First she told Aunty that she need to take a trip home and would be gone for at least a week. She would give her the expenses for the household before she took off if she was to go. Lin Hui was at work. Shu Yan would need to ask her to help keep an eye out while she was gone.
She was packing her clothes when the phone rang again. Shu Yan ran over to pick up the phone and, sure enough, it was a call from Shu Jianyang.
“What’s the situation now, Third Brother?”
