Chapter 215: Planting Swordplay: Twenty-Three Swords

[Ding!]
[+100 Farm Points.]
The System Notifications rang repeatedly beside Jiang He’s ears, and unhappy with how troublesome it was to pluck each Orirock, he simply released his True Qi that gusted and plucked every Orirock.
Soon, the thirty Orirock trees were fully harvested, and Jiang He had a total of three thousand Orirocks, three hundred thousand Farm Points and thirty thousand EXP.
And after the harvest, the Orirock trees crumbled into ashes on their own in the farm.
Meanwhile, Jiang He’s gaze s.h.i.+fted to the System.
[Name: Jiang He]
[Cultivation: Immortal Path—perfect Qi-Refinist; Martial Arts—Rank-Nine Novice]
[Ability: Royal Sword, fire]
[Martial Arts Cultivation: Indestructible Diamond (Mastery+), Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms (+), Blind Princess’s Eight Practices (Second Practice+), Strengthened Nine Yang Technique (Sixth Tier+), Ninefold Thunderblade (Third Fold+), Dragon-Elephant Prajna (Sixth Tier+), Nine Stars Heavenly Body Formula (First Tier), Three Thousand Calamities (First Level)]
[Owned Land: 3 Mu]
[Farm Level: 4 (EXP 44800/50000)]
[System Backpack: 18 boxes]
[System Shop: Unlocked]
[Farm Points: 352000]
“Oh?”
“I’m almost level 5 in EXP now?”
Jiang He was all smiles when he saw the six-figure Farm Points, just as thirty more buds grew out of the farm ground.
It was now past five in the morning.
Jiang He simply took out a lunch box, squatted at the farmyard and started eating. Even though it had been kept inside his System Backpack for half a month, it tasted no different from being recently cooked.
Sora had prepared three lunchboxes for him: Coleslaw of cuc.u.mber, black wood ear and carrot shreds, while the other two were stir-fried eggplant over meat and stir-fried black wood ear over meat.
The rice was normal, but the dishes would sell for astronomical prices if they were sold out there—people would clamor for it even if it was sold at dozen millions per portion.
After having a few mouthfuls of his lunchbox, Jiang He took out a bottle of rank-nine Origin Fluid and had a few sips. Watching as the Origin Trees grew at a rate visible to the naked eye ahead of himself, he could not help chuckling, “I guess the greatest pleasure of a farmer really is to see the crops you planted with your own hands growing fertilely. So what if I worked a little hard for it?”
After finis.h.i.+ng the lunchbox, Jiang He absentmindedly threw away the box and the bottle, but quietly picked up the bottle when he remembered something.
“Shouldn’t throw the bottle away—I’ll give it to Cheng Dongfeng if I run into him when he gets back.”
Jiang He still clearly remembered the moment when Cheng Dongfeng subtly picked up his bottles.
That was when Dumbo, who was lying down on the ground at a corner of the farm abruptly had a burst of aura.
Jiang He could not hold back his delight.
After all, his dog is now rank-seven.
Trumbo’s aura strengthened after Dumbo’s did too, as it quickly evolved to rank-seven.
And once cat and dog ascended, they were cheerfully celebrating their joy all over the farm.
They ran out of the farm to find the black panther lying miserably outside the farm, with grief overflowing in its feline gaze.
Trumbo leapt up to the black panther’s back, startling it as it promptly communicated with spirit voice, “Stop it… my head hurts.”
The cat actually had not recovered from its fear of heights.
Dumbo chuckled, stood on its rear legs and extended its paws to a.s.sume several different poses in front of the black panther while speaking human language, “Big kitty, ever seen such thick doggie muscles?”
“Eh?”
“You pig! How dare you glare at me—I’ll kill you in an instant, believe it!”
Dumbo’s aura overflowed and it ran off to the storehouse, grabbing a longsword of S-grade alloy and displayed a most natural sword technique, leaving the black panther gaping.
What the heck!
“Rank seven already?”
The black panther exclaimed through spirit voice, while Dumbo rolled its eyes at a loss for words, barking, “Am I showing you my tier? I was showing you my sword technique…
“Ever seen a dog’s swordplay?
“By the way, I know palm techniques too…”
Boom!
Dumbo’s claw slashed out, and a golden palm print promptly descended, sending the black panther flying over a hundred feet away. Even so, not only was the black panther not angry, its eyes widened even more.
Back in the farm, Jiang He stepped out after hearing the commotion outside, yelling, “What’s with all that noise in the middle of the night… Eh? What are you doing lying on the floor, big kitty? Didn’t I tell you to go back to Mu Wanqiu at the Superpower Research Department? Why aren’t you there yet?”
The black panther pushed itself up off the ground, and wailed in grief through spirit voice, “Master, I can’t go… that woman is so scary—she draws my blood with a half-meter long alloy needle every single day!
“Master, I want to learn swordplay and palm techniques from you too!”
“Go away!”
Jiang He yanked the black panther away with a kick, scolding, “Head to the Superpower Research Department right now. I’ll consider teaching you martial arts after Mu Wanqiu is done with her research.”
The black panther wailed miserably once, but ran to Lingzhou City in the cover of the night with its head slumped.
It wanted to seize the moment to slip away halfway on its journey, but after some thought…
“Forget it.” The panther mused to itself.
“I’m just a rank-seven panther, and living in the wild is too dangerous since there’s a big chance some human martial artist would kill me. Even if I didn’t run into human elites, the other thuggish Ferals might kill me too!”
***
The black panther notwithstanding, after Jiang He had scolded Dumbo and Trumbo as well, he found Sora coming out of the mansion.
Dressed in a sleeping gown, she exclaimed in surprise, “You’re back, master?”
Even as she spoke, she was lunging at him.
Jiang He was rather speechless. How many days had it only been?
And what could a maid like you be trying, diving into your master’s arms?
“Hold on…”
All of a sudden, Jiang He realized in shock that he was… reacting!
“Why is this happening? I didn’t eat any peppers… or could Sora had sneaked in some in the stir-fried black wood ear over meat?”
Therefore, Jiang He decided to give Sora a fine lesson.
The details about said lesson could be spared—Jiang He only relented after Sora pleaded for mercy, and the sun had already risen by then. Lighting himself a cigarette, Jiang He headed upstairs for a bath, before returning to the farm with his clothes on.
Back on the farm, the thirty Orirock trees had already matured.
“Well, my farm is only 5200 EXP short of level 5…”
Since each Orirock earned Jiang He 100 Farm Points and 10 EXP, Jiang He only needed 520 Orirocks.
True Qi gusted with a wave of his hand—Jiang He plucked all Orirocks from five trees, and twenty more from the Sixth.
A crisp System Notification jingled in his head at that.
Turning to the System Panel, Jiang He could see that the EXP bar showed (50000/50000).
Another notification had also popped up beneath his stats panel, labeled the ‘Farm Level Ascension Materials’.
[One 500kg portion of Feral King flesh]
[Two 500kg portions of rank-nine Feral flesh]
[Orirocks: 100]
“This is outrageous, System!”
“It was at most 200kg before this, and now it’s 500 at one go?”
Still, complaints were complaints—he still has to level up.
Even so, Jiang He needed to make a swordplay before he did… after all, he could still plant one more cultivation manual after reaching farm level 4, and he must not waste it.
And as for what swordplay, Jiang He already had an idea!
“The Sacred Spirit’s Sword Style and the Twelve Mystic Yin Swords are swordplay that breaks the rules of the world. Though it’s a martial world over here, such illogical technique would cut down sages and G.o.ds alike!”
Jiang He thought to himself.
There were twenty variants to the Sacred Spirit’s Sword Style, whereas the Twelve Mystic Yin Swords had twelve. It could be troublesome cultivating all those, and he would have to write over several thousand words even if he resorted to creating the manuals for those techniques…
That was why Jiang He decided to cultivate Twenty-Three Swords instead.
That particular sword technique counts as a derivative of the Sacred Spirit’s Sword Style, the most powerful sword technique that the Sword Sage grasped on death’s door. It was in turn divided to three styles: Selfless Pa.s.sion, World Calamity, and the Six Annihilations.
Of those three, the Six Annihilations was the most powerful style—wielding one’s blade with your mind to destroy the enemy’s essence, it was one of the greatest of sword techniques in the Storm Riders series!
“It’s a bit outrageous—wielding swords with one’s mind to directly cut down another’s essence… it’s rare even for an immortal art, is it not? And doesn’t the Storm Riders series actually portray a martial world?”
