Chapter 90 - Beep— Beep—

Thank you to Anon and Jessie for your Ko-Fis! Enjoy the extra chapter!

A University was a key famous university in City A, and the pomp and ceremony that it held was extremely grand; not only were the city leaders in attendance, even the well-known professors from all over the country arrived early to attend the ceremony. In September, the sun still possessed some heat, and at this time, it was inevitable that the quality of the people would be tested. The College of Liberal Arts, however, was lucky this time around as two-thirds of their majors were situated in the shade.

Kang Shengzhe and Liang Chulin were within the fortunate two-thirds, and they obediently totted their little folding stools and lined up properly to sit down in a square array. With how cooling the shade was compared to other places, most people did not want to get up once they sat down.

Although they had to listen to the various pretext that the leaders were offering, it was obvious at a glance that the people in the shaded area were better off compared to the people who had to persist under the sun.

It did not take long for everyone to gather, and the person on the podium shouted a resonant and loud ‘Quieten down’ through the microphone and the crowd went hush. Then, the older school sister who was the main emcee, began reading the opening speech to kickstart the opening ceremony proper.

For people who have been attending school since their childhood, these procedures were the same old set and there was no need to pay attention to them. Kang Shengzhe was absent-minded and he was already preparing to close his eyes when the opening speech started. On the other hand, Liang Chulin pushed him once and said gently, “Hey, look over there.”

Kang Shengzhe’s gaze swept across and there was nothing that entered his eyes. Liang Chulin pouted and said again: “I’ve seen that school senior before, the one from the student union, and he even came to the dormitory with Brother Liang Liang, what was he called…”

Kang Shengzhe focused his eyes on that particular person before he said: “Liao Su.”

“Ah, right, that’s right, he’s called Liao Su. Yi, you know of him?”

Upon seeing Liao Su’s side profile on the podium stage, Kang Shengzhe froze slightly, unable to elaborate more on the situation to Liang Chulin. It made sense now as to why Liao Su had briefly touched on the fact that he had a job to do today; with the school opening ceremony, how could the student union possibly escape from the duty of having to facilitate it? It was no wonder that Liao Su was standing there.

The thoughts circulated in Kang Shengzhe’s mind for a good while and he looked left and right to run through the people on the stage. Liang Chulin, who was standing by side, paused, and he returned back to himself with a murmur: “That means Brother Liang Liang must be around too, where is he?”

Unable to find the person he was looking for, Kang Shengzhe retrieved his phone and lowered his head covertly to send You Liangxing a message. The joke he made in the morning was still on the interface, and he sent an expression of a fancy heart gesture to him.

The other party was quick to reply. You Liangxing: — What are you doing.

Kang Shengzhe typed: — Where are you?

You Liangxing: — School.

Kang Shengzhe: — Be more specific.

You Liangxing: — The podium.

Kang Shengzhe lifted his head to scan the entire stage, going across each individual one by one. Around eighty percent of the personnel there were teachers, and there were a few male and female school seniors accompanying them. Liao Su was akin to a telephone pole sprouting out at the side and he was supposedly commandeering over the entire situation. With the crew cut and seriousness he portrayed, he looked like a simple-minded bodyguard, and Liang Liang… Liang Liang… was not there.

Kang Shengzhe hurriedly typed: — Can’t see you.

A short while later, You Liangxing returned a message: — Look again.

Just as he stowed his phone away, Liang Chulin pinched his arm and exclaimed: “He’s here, he’s here, I see Brother Liang Liang.”

Concurrently, a clearly defined, handsome and stalwart figure stepped onto the stage soundlessly as Liang Chulin was speaking. This person did not stir up much noise with his movement, nor did he intentionally want to steal the limelight from the person speaking on the podium, but once he appeared, he immediately garnered a substantial amount of attention.

You Liangxing stepped onto the stage from the side and converged with Liao Su. The two of them exchanges gazes, and the predecessor happily got off the stage while allowing his successor to take his place.

The only change was the person standing at the side of the stage, and it should not have attracted much attention to begin with, especially when it was not observed carefully. However, in that short instant, the freshmen who noticed You Liangxing started to whisper to themselves.

Next to Kang Shengzhe’s ears, he could hear the female cla.s.smates who had been cheering him on say with excitement: “What the h.e.l.l! Look at that.”

The female student being called was baffled, “Ah? Look at what?” Subsequently, she stiffened as well, displaying the surprised expression that one would have after catching a glimpse of a handsome man.

“My G.o.d, who is he! He’s way, way way way too handsome.”

The female students accounted for a large portion of the students in the Liberal Arts College section and they started to stir. Had it been under normal circ.u.mstances, Liang Chulin would have dismissed it without a doubt, but person in question was You Liangxing; and not only was he not angry, he was even a little proud.

With how handsome Brother Liang Liang was, this was par on course.

Pleased with himself, Liang Chulin glanced at his phone and gave Kang Shengzhe a reminder: “Look at the group.”

After looking at You Liangxing once, the girls no longer stared directly at him. Instead, they would steal glances at him with fl.u.s.tered faces, which was different from Kang Shengzhe who continued to ogle at him without even blinking, like he really wanted to swallow You Liangxing alive. In spite of the reminder that Liang Chulin gave, it took him a long while before he could tear his gaze away from You Liangxing’s person to look at the group.

He knew why Liang Chulin told him to look at it with one glance, their cla.s.s group had long exploded. With the high volume of girls they had, they did not open a separate group and they directly discussed the matter in the cla.s.s group itself.

【AHHHHHH who’s that!! He’s way too handsome!!】

【I have heard rumours that A University had a lot of handsome guys, but they didn’t say that they were handsome to this extent. And please, how is this only handsome? I think he can make a debut!!】

【So handsome to the point where people can’t close their legs.】

【WTF, does anyone know any year two or year three school seniors, please try and find out which faculty this guy is from!!】

【He’s too handsome; I don’t know why but I have the slight urge to join the student union.】

【Me too…】

Kang Shengzhe stared at the sentence ‘so handsome to the point where people can’t close their legs’ for a long time, and he let out an unexpected snort. Just from looking at his cla.s.s alone, he could not imagine how many fangirls had appeared in his entire cohort of freshmen.

He looked at You Liangxing again. He was standing upright at the side of the stage and there were no deviations from his usual style hair wise, but his clothes were more formal-looking, and the white s.h.i.+rt he was wearing made him look exceptionally clean and refres.h.i.+ng.

Inexplicably, Kang Shengzhe wanted to feel him up.

However, he could not touch him and he was reduced to settling for the second best, namely hara.s.sing him from a distance and amidst the crowd. Kang Shengzhe sent him a message on WeChat: — Liang Liang! Liang Liang!

— You look really good today.

When the message was delivered, he kept staring at You Liangxing. Initially, You Liangxing had remained motionless, but after the ninth message that Kang Shengzhe had sent his way, he looked left and right before he took out his phone to skim the contents.

You Liangxing knew that every move and action he did on stage was very conspicuous due to the numerous eyes fixated on him, and he did not know why the thought of that did not deter him. He tapped open the chat he had with Kang Shengzhe. While there was nothing proper or useful in the messages that Kang Shengzhe had sent him, he still read everything. Furthermore, he felt no displeasure towards them. With his back still straightened, he used a single hand to lightly rapt out a reply.

— Stop making trouble, we’ll talk after this is over.

Kang Shengzhe appeared to be blind to his words: — The girls in our cla.s.s are praising you for being handsome, my heart feels agitated.

You Liangxing replied: — Go and agitate yourself, don’t agitate me.

Kang Shengzhe sent him a row of ten pouting expressions, and You Liangxing could help but curl up his lips when he was done viewing them. The slight smile did not go unnoticed by the teachers who were standing close to him, and even the freshmen in the front row saw it clearly.

You Liangxing quickly withdrew his expression and kept his phone to avoid losing his focus.

And to his own puzzlement – perhaps stemming from the fact he did not reply to Kang Shengzhe’s message and because he was uncertain as to whether the stupid tall man was unhappy – You Liangxing searched for Kang Shengzhe in the Liberal Arts students’ section. Then, as if he had been possessed by a deity or ghost, he raised his hand and placed his index finger on his lips before he made a gentle ‘shh’ noise.

His original intention was to silence the Liberal Arts College section to save Kang Shengzhe from being resentful and agitated in his heart. However, not only did the Liberal Arts College not settle down, the entire school erupted into a frenzy as well.

【AHHHHHHHHHH! Did! You! See! That!!】

【A divine being is teasing us???】

【What is he doing!! My heart has been paralysed!!!】

【Your mother, what is this school senior’s name, which family does he come from and where does he stay!!!】

The group was stirred so fiercely that Liang Chulin felt sympathetic in his extreme understanding of their fangirl mentality. He was about to open his mouth as a fellow sufferer commiserating with them, but Kang Shengzhe beat him to the punch first: — His name is You Liangxing, Economic Management Faculty Year Three, the President of the Student Union.

His words did not manage to trigger an instantaneous and huge impact, but once Kang Shengzhe said those words, the girls in cla.s.s immediately remembered the matter of the voting post.

Everyone came to a sudden realisation. 【It turns out to be this way, no wonder his photo wasn’t even displayed.】

【He really is handsome…】

【After seeing him with my own eyes, I finally realised why the Economic Management Faculty is so arrogant.】

【… They really have the capital to do so.】

After seeing everyone’s reaction, Kang Shengzhe sent a series of ellipsis to the group.

He did not have a deeper meaning behind his words to begin with, but when it landed in the eyes of the girls, it was interpreted differently. Recalling the fact that they had relentlessly cheered Kang Shengzhe on under the belief that he would win, the girls swiftly kept their expressions and said solemnly:

【Kang Shengzhe, don’t worry, although You-xuezhang makes my legs soft, I will definitely give you my vote.】

【That’s right, that’s right, we must guard the dignity of our Liberal Art College strictly. 】

【Whoever doesn’t vote for Kang Shengzhe is a dog!】

【Comrade Kang Shengzhe, I’m very optimistic about you.】

Yesterday, they had treated You Liangxing to be beneath their notice, but now that they saw the person himself, the address ‘You-xuezhang’ was present in every sentence. Kang Shengzhe was akin to a packet of instant noodles stewing in a soup that was thick of sourness, but no one knew what he was truly eating vinegar for apart from Liang Chulin.

After a period of eloquent speeches and those that spoke of how it was every man for himself, the speeches given by the leaders finally came to an end. The last item on the list was a speech delivered by the student union representative, and all the female students within the freshmen started a wave of warm and enthusiastic applause.

There was also a fair amount of older female school seniors at the scene. Although they saw You Liangxing go up on stage, none of them appeared interested because they had already a.s.sumed that You Liangxing was there to show his face before he allowed Liao Su to go up.

The teachers and student leaders who were acquainted with You Liangxing had thought the same. Hence, when You Liangxing walked towards the podium and came to a standstill, everyone thought that he was going to go down after showing his face.

Similarly, Liang Chulin commented: “Where’s Liao-xuezhang? Why isn’t he going up yet? I heard from my older sister that Brother Liang Liang never does speeches. Last year, she didn’t hear him speak and the entire school was disappointed by that fact.”

Kang Shengzhe’s eyes were still glued to the onstage You Liangxing and his intuition was ringing. A bad premonition gradually surfaced in his heart, and in that instant, his eyelids jumped sharply. Opening his mouth, he squeezed out some drawn out sounds: “Beep—Beep—”

The very next moment, right before the mult.i.tude of eyes, You Liangxing gave a pause. He leisurely unfolded the speech in his hands. Positioned at the centre of everyone’s gazes, he coughed softly before he opened his mouth to say, “h.e.l.lo everyone.”

The voice landed. Clear, melodious, delicate, and soft.

It sounded weak at first sound, but after carefully listening to it, there was a natural kittenish taste that could not be mistaken.

What a lovely, girly voice…

Then, the school exploded.

The author has something to say: Guess what Kang Shengzhe said, such that it was unexpectedly censored.
