Chapter 49 - Who will you pick?

Thank you Winxer for the Ko-Fi

After ascertaining the cause and effect, the first emotion that had struck You Liangxing first was none other than extreme offense. The umbrage he felt was different from the sort that he would typically experience whenever he was talking to Ah Sheng; it was genuine, in every sense of the word, annoyance.

As he recalled the time he had spent with Ah Sheng, the bitterness and disappointment he felt increased the longer he thought back about it. After that debacle, he had shut off his phone and took a cold shower before his brain gradually calmed down. Even though he had composed himself, the rage was not quelled; rather, he felt like he was smoking embers, and it had burned away any intention of sleep at that moment.

Half a month. It could not be considered as long, but it was not short either. To You Liangxing, Ah Sheng had imperceptibly occupied much of his thoughts in that span of time. He had even considered whether he should meet the other party or not… But now that he thought about it, he became even angrier.

Why was he being treated as a girl? He had always regarded Ah Sheng as a friend.

You Liangxing had laid down on his bed but sleep had eluded him. As he was tossing and turning, his mind could not shrug off the previous happenings. Ah Sheng was an anchor, and he was Liao Su’s favourite anchor KK, and the anchor he followed as well….

In the split-moment, something sparked in You Liangxing’s mind, startling him and giving him a pause.

Liao Su? Some time ago, he seemed to have asked Liao Su and Ah Sheng to game together. At that time, how did he introduce him to Ah Sheng?

Due to the stirrings of guilt he had felt back when, he remembered the proceedings clearly. He had told Ah Sheng that Liao Su was his dorm mate…

Dorm mate. Afterwards, Liao Su had casually shown off the prowess of his windpipe in the voice chat.

You Liangxing: ……

That meant that, as long as Ah Sheng was not too stupid, he already knew he was a man. Furthermore, when he examined the time they spent interacting with each other, You Liangxing never felt as though the other party had been treating him as a girl.

With the sudden epiphany, the resulting effect was as if the winds had parted the fog. Although You Liangxing was not conscious of it, his expression had cleared up by several degrees.

Therefore, he was the one who had jumped to conclusions, and he had misunderstood something.

As he thought about how he had cold shouldered Ah Sheng and left the game without even listening to his explanation now, You Liangxing felt an unspeakable embarra.s.sment in retrospect.

He had intended to make some clarifications to Ah Sheng right away but because his mood had changed too much and too quickly, it caused You Liangxing to hesitate. And this hesitation was still You Liangxing’s pre-existing regret.

The beginnings of his regrets started at dawn where You Liangxing had yet to get a wink of sleep.

There was a knock on the door. “Cleaning services.”

The cleaning services seemed a little earlier this time around. While You Liangxing was having his doubts, the knocks at the door continued without stopping. You Liangxing said: “Wait a moment.”

He had just opened the door by half when a fair and clear hand reached in, holding a high heel in a tight grip. Without a word, it was thrown at You Liangxing’s leg, forcing him to back away. Then, his a.s.sailant had seized the opportunity and forced their way into the room.

Hands mimicking a gun, Bai Yao said seriously: “Don’t move, raise your hands! You have been arrested, you can choose to remain silent or speak, but remember that every sentence you say will be presented as evidence!”

You Liangxing: “……”

Bai Yao: “React a little.”

You Liangxing: “…..Tch.”

The memories came to an abrupt halt, and You Liangxing turned his head to the Bai Yao who had caught him in early in the morning. The white fairy maiden who had been slumbering was staring at him with big eyes. “What are you thinking about?”

You Liangxing said at length: “My phone.”

Bai Yao: “Not giving.”

After catching You Liangxing, Bai Yao had confiscated his phone to prevent him from running. You Liangxing sighed and turned his head back. While he did not insist on having his phone returned back to him, he seemed somewhat listless.

Although it was undeniable that he wanted to get his mobile phone back as soon as possible to contact Ah Sheng, it was also true that he was undecided on how he should reply and what kind of att.i.tude he should have with regards to Ah Sheng.

Yao Miaomiao called out, “Sister Yaoyao?”

Bai Yao said, “En.” As she eyed at the time, she brushed away any flaw present in her appearance as well. A celebrity was supposed to look perfect at any given time, and even if they were in private settings, they had to beautiful to the extent where they could cause the world to explode.

“Okay, let’s go.”

Bai Yao’s schedule was very packed, and the small snippet of time she spent hugging You Liangxing while taking a nap was considered something of a stolen moment between her work. Switching into her professional mode, she immediately got out of the car only to pause halfway. Bai Yao glanced at Yao Miaomiao who was following behind her, “You don’t have to go.”

Yao Miaomiao was startled, “Ah?”

Bai Yao pointed at You Liangxing: “Look after him.”

Hesitant, Yao Miaomiao protested, “No way, I can’t leave you alone.”

Bai Yao said: “How am I alone, isn’t he a person?” As she spoke, she gazed at the chauffeur Xiao Zhang and continued, “Come, come, you’re following me.”

Yao Miaomiao looked nervous, “This…”

Pulling her closer, Bai Yao instructed: “What can possibly happen in a meeting with anchors? I’m handing Ah Liang over to you, watch after him for me, understood?”

Against Bai Yao’s seriousness, her initial refusal changed into that of a person who was going to confront a formidable foe, “Un- under- understood.”

Once she was done with her instructions, Bai Yao’s expression seemed to relax. She tossed You Liangxing’s phone towards Yao Miaomiao and turned around, strutting beatifically into the company.

When Bai Yao’s back gradually disappeared into the distance, Yao Miaomiao and You Liangxing were wordless for a while.

You Liangxing stated, “My phone.”

Yao Miaomiao: “This…”

You Liangxing gazed at her and frowned, adopting the appearance that he was about to discuss two specific points. However, against the second wave of attractiveness that slammed into her, Yao Miaomiao immediately folded. “Here you go.”

It was not that Bai Yao miscalculated; rather, she was merely playing a joke. If she really had no intention to return You Liangxing his phone, she could have just held onto it. Hence, there was no difference between giving it to Yao Miaomiao in front of him and returning it back to him directly.

You Liangxing took his phone. Beneath his calm façade, he was subconsciously nervous, wondering if Ah Sheng had sent him any messages after he had hurriedly shut off his phone last night, and what he should say to the other party if he really did leave one.

Lowering his head, You Liangxing switched on his phone. Seeing that You Liangxing had no desire to leave yet, Yao Miaomiao considered the different options she had with unease. Worried, she asked: “Will Sister Yaoyao be fine alone? What if she has to directly sign the contract?”

You Liangxing took the moment to look out, and within the scope of his vision, he could not help but notice the two words ‘MengMao’. You Liangxing knew that she had work involvements but he did not know the specifics of it. His thoughts diverged, and he abruptly thought of Ah Sheng.

Ah Sheng… KK was an anchor from this company.

Suddenly remembering that You Liangxing played King’s Glory as well, Yao Miaomiao said: “I heard that KK and Piaoluo will be here today, and it seems like they are both famous anchors. I’m not clear about it since I don’t play the game, but who do you think Sister Yaoyao will pick?”

You Liangxing: “……”

You Liangxing: “KK?”

Yao Miaomiao confirmed it, “Mn, KK and Piaoluo.”

She did not notice that You Liangxing only asked after KK, and her reply was rather lackl.u.s.tre, “I have to remind her not to take pictures with others arbitrarily; I can’t put my heart down when I’m not with her.”

You Liangxing said, “You’re saying that KK is here?”

Yao Miaomiao did not know why he was asking that but it was indeed the case. “Yeah, since Sister Yaoyao picked up the live broadcast with MengMao TV, she has to find an anchor to work with. Today happens to be the day they are meeting, weren’t you aware of this?”

You Liangxing did not hear the remaining half of her words and he gazed at the entrance of MengMao TV that was outside the car window. He was a little lost in his thoughts when the sound of the phone successfully turning on travelled to his ears. As if he was waking up from a dream, You Liangxing lowered his head and entered WeChat.

There were two new messages from Ah Sheng in the chat list.

[Ah Sheng]: — I didn’t hide it from you intentionally, I have always been serious about this.

[Ah Sheng]: — I’m going to Beijing tomorrow….. Can we meet?

You Liangxing: “…..”

A short while later, You Liangxing stated: “I’m getting out of the car.”
