Chapter 4 - Everyone’s Goodness.

Liao Su had been playing King’s Glory for a long time, and with a lot of effort, he managed to reach the rank of half a king, and came to a standstill on Xingyao last season. After he attained the rank of Xingyao, he virtually floated in the division in vicissitudes; while he had attempted to overcome the last frontier several times, he could only kneel in front it in the end, unable to become a King.

Even though he didn’t manage to enter the ranks of King, Liao Su’s level was pretty good among ordinary players. And according to his wishes, carrying Liang Chuhan around to abuse the weaker players in the Gold division in a cool manner was definitely not an issue.

Furthermore, You Liangxing had just registered, and the opponents that they would be matchmade against in the bronze division were basically all novices, posing no challenge at all. And everyone who played King’s Glory knew that there was a matchmaking rating (MMR) within the game, and only players of similar ranks can be matchmade together. Naturally, Liao Su could not use his main account to play.

Instead he used a smurf account that he had not logged into for a long time. Coincidentally, it was ranked silver, and silver and gold players could be matchmade together. On the left (or bottom) he could pull in You Liangxing, and on the right, he could pull in Liang Chuhan. It was perfect. Thinking that, Liao Su could not help but shoot a glance at You Liangxing, looking forward tonight.

Yes, he had always been crushed by You Liangxing in all aspects, he had to properly show off in front of Liang Chuhan in the game tonight!

He would make sure that You Liangxing was the one being silenced and he would make Liang Chuhan shed tears for him, and their favourable impressions of him would soar. The future of carrying a girl and a little brother in game were boundless!

While Liao Su was merrily dreaming, You Liangxing entered the newcomer’s tutorial.

Every player who had just registered in the game had to use the hero Arthur to run through the gameplay. You Liangxing looked at his own screen layout and controlled the left and right directions according to the instructions with his left hand.

Once he got the basic operations down, You Liangxing’s response to it was rather flat. King’s Glory was not difficult to play; even a newcomer would easily understand it.

In a nutsh.e.l.l, King’s Glory was a 5v5 team compet.i.tive tower-pus.h.i.+ng game. Both sides had to choose their favoured heroes to partic.i.p.ate in the battle, and the winning condition was to destroy the opposing side’s crystal nexus. Throughout the game, the enemies and allies were separated into three lanes, and each lane had three defensive towers, and one lane had to broken through completely before they could reach the opponent’s nexus.

Kill and push towers, it was that simple.

You Liangxing followed the game’s prompts to first play a match against bots, and he only noticed the name above his avatar when he entered the game. Prior to that, he was more focused on the rules of the game, and the name managed to make him unhappy in two words (or five characters in Chinese):

Everyone’s Goodness.

No wonder Liao Su was constantly smirking; the desire to raise his leg to kick Liao Su deepened within You Liangxing, but the match had already begun and You Liangxing could only glare at his silly friend before he continued playing the game.

Playing against bots was easy, but it was useful for novices to grasp the gameplay. It also allowed players to try out the different skills the heroes possessed and improve their experience with it. After finis.h.i.+ng the match, the training camp for newcomers was considered completed, and he immediately entered the queue to experience what it was like to play against real players.

Once he started playing, it continued on for four hours. After the session, he reviewed all the general knowledge he had gained in regard to King’s Glory once, which was a habit that You Liangxing had whenever he did something. After checking on him a few times, Liao Su’s gaze was full of gratification.

“Honestly, I’m won over by the earnestness you invest into everything you do. If I had half your effort, I would have became a King a long time ago.”

That being said, rankings within a game could not be improved overnight unless the person was some kind of prodigy. However, Liao Su did not care much for it either, continuing to talk and laugh, even voluntarily going out to grab You Liangxing some food.

After the dinner break, You Liangxing boxed for an hour and the dormitory was filled with sounds of his fists impacting the sandbag dully. When Liao Su first heard it, his state of mind had constantly rippled, but now he was just clutching onto his phone while waiting patiently. Once it was nine o’ clock, Liao Su instantaneously jumped out his chair. “Brother Liang, Brother Liang! Quickly! Quickly get online! Come come!”

After exercising, You Liangxing rolled his shoulders back, and he took off his gloves and s.h.i.+rt, exposing the muscles that he maintained through exercise. The slender fit of his muscles was wrapped around a perfect skeletal structure and his naturally white skin was covered with a light sheen of sweat. The dormitory seemed to be filled with hormones that could make a person’s mouth go dry.

Once he changed into a fresh s.h.i.+rt, You Liangxing sat down before entering the game. Since his breathing was still unstable, he chose to only accept Liao Su’s invitation after he had calmed down a little. Similarly, Liao Su also waited on him, and while You Liangxing’s breath was neither heavy nor light, he didn’t dare to open his voice channel.

“Are you settled?”

You Liangxing did not answer and tapped to agree to join the room. The room already had two people and with one glance, he ascertained that【I just like running】 was Liao Su and the other【Monthly Refres.h.i.+ng Breeze】was probably Liang Chuhan.

Liao Su opened his voice channel and coughed twice, “Junior school sister, can you hear me?”

Liang Chuhan’s voice was gentle and magnanimous, “I hear you, Liao-xuezhang.”

Since another person was being dragged into a room that already had two persons, how could Liang Chuhan fail to guess who the newcomer was? But after seeing the name【Everyone’s Goodness】she could not help but ask with some uncertainty, “You-xuezhang?”

The answer became obvious; Liang Chuhan looked at the microphone sign next to You Liangxing’s avatar. Sure enough, even though his communication channel was open, he did not speak.

“He hasn’t played the game for long and his gameplay is so-so. You don’t have to care about him; it’s good enough if you’re happy. Right, you don’t have to call me school senior, just call me Liao Su.”

Liang Chuhan did not insist on being too polite, “Shall we start?”

Liao Su: “Okay.”

The icon for a match found lit up, and Liang Chuhan looked at You Liangxing’s avatar as if she was spellbound.

Not even a single greeting, and even when they were playing games, he did not say a single word. While Liang Chuhan did not express it, she felt a little lost in her heart, and it was even tinged with a tad bit regret. On the other hand, she was not worried in the least when it came to the match they were entering.

The time she spent playing the game was not short, spanning about two seasons. Compared to the players who were concerned about their results, her performance was not weak either. It was one of the reasons why she was so calm and collected when she was going to play a bronze division match with You Liangxing.

Currently, she was on her smurf account.

When Liao Su had asked her what her rank was, Liang Chuhan had lied. Although she had said that she was Gold in the moment, her actual rank was Xingyao. Even though the seat she occupied was in lower rungs of Xingyao, her skills were definitely not weak.

It was not nice to say it directly but everyone had their own thoughts; while it was a bronze, sliver and gold team on surface, it actually hid two Xingyao-ranked players. With such a line-up going against a bronze team, it was basically one side abusing the other, and the latter was destined to fall.

Entering the game, Liao Su said in a relaxed manner: “Brother Liang, you pick first.”

When most newcomers started playing the game, they were more likely to pick a marksman to play, with Hou Yi being one of the popular picks. Liao Su was scared that his reaction would be slow so he selected the hero for him first, but who would have thought that You Liangxing would immediately pick Zhuang Zhou, a hero that could either play tank or auxiliary.

It was worth mentioning that within King’s Glory, the heroes could be divided into six categories: tanks, bruisers, a.s.sa.s.sins, mages, marksman and auxiliary. Marksman had the greatest attack range, followed closely by mages and the remaining categories of tanks, bruisers and a.s.sa.s.sins were usually melee.

When the game began, the marksman would typically go to the bottom lane while the mage would go to the middle, and the bruiser or a.s.sa.s.sin would jungle. The rest would also be fighting in lane. While there was no hard requirement, it was the most conventional way of playing.

Liao Su actually wanted to lane with Liang Chuhan. Unfortunately, immediately after You Liangxing made his pick, Liang Chuhan locked in the marksman Sun Shangxiang. Since no one was playing jungle, he could only fill and pick one of his more commonly used heroes, Kai.

While it was a pity, he could still help out the bottom lane once he was level four and show off some of his proficiency.

“Play for a bit first, I’ll catch someone later.”

Liao Su glanced back at You Liangxing. Their desks were not side by side, instead, it was positioned such that they sat back to back, where one could not see the other. Liao Su thought about it and dragged his chair to sit by You Liangxing’s side.

In Liao Su’s opinion, the game was not challenging. A match in the bronze division was a mere string up and beating of the opponents. However, he did not expect that he set down a flag for himself, as someone immediately came to hit his face, taking him by surprise.

Just as the blue monster’s health dropped low, the opposing side’s Gong Sunli suddenly grasped the opportunity to punish him first, stealing his blue buff before fleeing.

Liao Su: ???

His blue was stolen.

Bronze Division players knew how to deprive their opponents of blue?

Liao Su was a little surprised. Previously, because he did not think too highly of the other side, he did not go to the opposing jungle to counter. However, he did not expect the enemy to pull such a trick.

Pursing his lips, Liao Su made a quick work of the rest of the monsters in his jungle. Without the experience from the blue monster, he had yet to reach level four. Therefore, he chose to camp at bush in the middle lane. Once the enemy’s mage appeared in the lane, he immediately pounced on them. However, just as he tried to cut up the mage, a level four monkey jumped out of the opposing bush and utilising three skills, it wordlessly killed him without suspense.

Liao Su: “f.u.c.k.”

Everyone on the internet said the waters in the bronze division was deep, but he did not think that it would be this deep. No longer underestimating the enemy, Liao Su gathered his concentration and started playing seriously. After two more trades, Liao Su found that the enemy on the opposing side should have a rank higher than bronze.

Not easy to fight.

The health on the top lane tower was dropping fast, and the mage in the middle lane had offered up four kills to the opposing side. Since he had to run between the two lanes, Liao Su could not provide any a.s.sistance to the bottom lane for the time being. As he opened up the mini map, You Liangxing and Liang Chuhan were both at half health. While Liang Chuhan had yet to die, You Liangxing had died once.

After fending off one wave, the mage could no longer handle it, and even Liao Su’s armour took four hits after a single fight. Under ten seconds, he was pushed back to the highland tower (second tower).

“We can’t hold onto middle lane.”

After dying too many in early game, Liao Su’s economy had long been suppressed. The three heroes on the opposing side had a swagger of arrogance in their steps, and in the moment where they focused in on him, his health dropped precariously low, putting him a difficult position where he had to retreat.

Seeing that the highland tower was about to collapse, You Liangxing and Liang Chuhan immediately returned back to base. Pa.s.sing the crystal nexus, the pair rushed up.

Liao Su quickly said: “Stay under the tower! Don’t leave it.”

Liang Chuhan replied: “Don’t worry.”

Liang Chuhan was playing Sun Shangxiang and she was constantly at bottom lane with You Liangxing. Since she was fighting in a two versus one situation, and she did not think that the opposing side was particularly strong. She only realised that the enemies did know how to play well when she rushed to the middle lane, and she unleashed her technical skills accordingly. Even though You Liangxing helped to tank some of the damage, she still died after dropping an enemy to bar of health while halving the other two’s health.

Liang Chuhan was dissatisfied with her own performance, but Liao Su was shocked. This kind of positioning was… Gold?

But now was not the time to surprised. You Liangxing was still under the highland tower, and Liao Su and Liang Chuhan simultaneously pinged him.

— Start Retreating!

— Start Retreating!

Not only did he ping, Liao Su, who had just revived at the fountain wanted to shout: “Brother Liang Brother Liang! Quickly withdraw!”

As though he didn’t hear his warning, or see the pings issued by his two allies, You Liangxing struck at the three enemy heroes that were in front him. He flashed past the two opponents who had half their health, and accurately threw his skills at the last opponent who had a small fraction of health left.

— Shut Down!

The blood rousing notification sounded, and You Liangxing turned around to stick closely to the remaining two. Liao Su watched the opponents’ health drop bit by bit, and in a few seconds, the in-game sound effect issued more notifications.

— Double Kill!

— Triple Kill!

Triple kill!

You Liangxing… Took three kills!!!
