I am the daughter of the archangel Michael, the strongest one in the Heaven kingdom, so all the others had their sons trying to get my attention, yet I felt no tug to them like my father had explained to look for. He said that I needed a strong soulmate to rule with, yet I hadn't seen or met them in all the people I've met.
My nurse maid was waiting for me by the front, in her hands was a red veil that matched my dress perfectly. I was required to hide my face when I was in the palace and outside as a princess, yet, I always found time to visit the villages as a normal person every once in a while. Father had explained it was to stop from any a.s.sa.s.sination attempts in case demons some how got into the Heaven kingdom. I slipped on my almost translucent veil and started to follow my nurse maid to the throne room, where my father sat in front of a boy that almost seemed familiar.
"Rosalina, so glad you could join us, my dear. Come and meet Kai, an angel who lives on Earth," my father said, holding his hand out to me and leading me to the smallest throne next to him, the other one was reserved for my mother whenever she wanted to grace us with her presence.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, young miss," the boy said and he looked up at me, his blonde hair moving swiftly out of his eyes, revealing bright emerald color.
"The pleasure is all mine."
"Back to the matter at hand, sir. This girl was alive and breathing, but she vanished into embers and started to fly this way. Do you think you can find her? We at least want to give her a proper burial and memorial," Kai a.s.serted, looking deep into Father's eyes. I looked at father and he was tense, obviously trying to stop whatever this boy was wanting. His blue eyes were radiant and glowing as he looked down at the boy.
"I'm sorry, but she is most definitely long gone by now, boy. She's a half-blood, so she's dangerous to all those around her. Who knows when she would have exploded like she did!" Father yelled, almost defensively as he stood and walked slowly towards the boy.
"She was definitely more angel than demon when it came to her magic, sir. Instead of destroying things in her path, she fixed the world and revived all the humans that were killed by the person who was after her. With all due respect, sir, but she didn't deserve to die like this. She didn't like her powers and always would ask if she belonged to any world. She felt like a misfit and it wasn't even any fault of her own, it was the fault of her parents who created her!"
Father was positively fuming at his words, yet he reined in most of his powers while I was in the room. I was like his reason to not destroy people, which is a main reason why I was present for most meetings like these.
"I see I am no longer welcome here today, sir. That's fine. I'll be here again in a few days and we can continue our discussion on Rose," Kai said and turned on his heel, walking out as his wings unfurled.
"Father?" I asked, my voice light and almost weak, but it did the job as he turned to me. His features relaxed and his eyes dulled down. He gave me a smile and pulled me into a hug.
"My sweet, Rosalina. Thank you for coming here during your time away," he said, pulling away and holding my small hands in his. He was a loving man to me and Mother, yet he was a little bit meaner to Mother than me when she got into a mood, as she put it.
"Of course, Father. I could never let you be alone especially if you call me away at a time like this."
"Rosalina, you can have the rest of the day to yourself, I'm sure you're exhausted from the day's duties and we are leaving to go see archangel Gabriel tomorrow. His daughter wants to spend the day with you."
I smiled at him and gave him a wide nod before beginning my trek back to my garden and the window to the human world.
Mother and I both were given s.p.a.ce to start our own gardens, every flower was an example of our power and they all grew specially in each.
My nurse maid was in the hallway as I left and I nodded at her as we started to move towards my garden. Once we were in the yard of it, I handed her my veil and she gave me a light smile before walking off to prepare my bag to leave tomorrow.
The path to the portal was framed by phoenix daisies, which were flowers that flowed like a flame and gave off heat when you walked by them. I walked down my path and reached the gazebo where the portal was. It was surrounded by frost flowers, which were like a human rose but the petals grew with frost. The portal glowed purple as I looked down in it, slowly sitting beside to and looking into the portal. A boy stared off into the distance as the portal's view of him cleared. His hair was black and his eyes depended on the day. Somedays they were red, others they were silver, but the rarest was when they glowed the same color as my father's and mine, the bright sapphire blue.
He looked around and rain fell around him, yet he stared out at the field of roses in front of him. I watched him move to the grave in the center of the field and saw him breakdown as a girl sat beside him. What I saw next was what made me gasp. A boy with bright angel wings landed next to them and sent the girl inside. They spoke for a bit before starting their treks inside. The angel boy stopped and stared almost directly at me, and it chilled me to the bone as black was all I could see after.
The boy had made the portal close, but he wasn't just any boy.
He was Kai.
