A slight blush flashed on Regan's face, "shut up."

She picked up her blanket and wrapped it around her, covering her body then slid her ring off her finger and placed it on her bed before turning to face a wall. "Look away."

Vixen stared at her hiding underneath her blanket, his lips curling into a smile, "I don't want to."

"You-" Regan began to protest before turning back around, "sigh, there's no point arguing is there?"

"Look at that, little Miss. Waterworks is finally catching up," Vixen chuckled.

They sat in silence while Regan struggled to keep the blanket up while changing.

"You know you have to tell me your story today right?" Vixen reminded, "you have to let that sh.e.l.l around your broken, probably boring story down."

"I know," Regan sighed, tightening the loose straps on her pants and slipping the red ring back onto the imprint it left on her finger, "as deluded and stupid as I may seem," She bounced off her bed and sat across the tabl from Vixen, "I don't go back on my promises."

"Good," Vixen grinned, "let's start with that ring."

Regan instinctively covered the ring, as if she could block the story behind it by distorting his view of it, "sure."

She cleared her throat and paused for a moment before unraveling her story to Vixen. Starting from the beginning and slowly revealing everything. She continued to talk until she started getting self-conscious of her story when the hard times came up. She looked up at Vixen who was staring at her intently listening to the story like it was a bedtime story. What was she doing? Providing entertainment for someone she should hate, talking about a past she was trying so hard to forget, a past that haunted her and left her in a fit of sweat and tears every night. This is stupid, she muttered to herself while fingering the ring. Yet, as she looked at those violet eyes, something about them just allowed her to spill everything. Ha, looks like those eyes are useful for getting the information he needs.

"So, here you are now?" Vixen asked.

"Hmm, stupid aren't I?" Regan let out a faint laugh.

"No," Vixen muttered reaching for her hair and ruffling it, "not at all."

He was lying, not only to Regan, but to himself. He knew it was pathetic, and even more disgraceful that it was such a similar incident to one that left him in this place he now called his home. Yet, he didn't want to admit it. He didn't want to admit to himself that he was weak, that he faltered at the words of trust that he was fed and forced to embed in his mind. The pathetic pet he wanted to keep now reminded him so much of himself it was upsetting.

Regan stared at Vixen as he reached over and ruffled her hair. His eyes seemed to have drowned themselves in a sea of self-pity, those harsh violet eyes held more pain than danger as they dulled and lost their flair momentarily.

"Do you have some hair patting fetish?" She asked brus.h.i.+ng her hair back into place.

"No, something about sad puppies makes me want to pet their fur," Vixen replied.

"Did you just-" Regan began, noticing how he had smoothly called her a pathetic dog but stopped halfway through her sentence. He was right anyway, she thought, "nevermind."

They sat in silence for a bit before Vixen cleared his throat, "Do you want to do something about it?" Vixen asked, pus.h.i.+ng away his thoughts.

"What?" Regan asked. Had she seen wrong? She could have sworn his entire mood changed just now. His eyes had seemed to have a sad going in them.

"Do you want to get back at that b.a.s.t.a.r.d?" Vixen repeated.

"First of all, don't call him that," Regan warned, as much as she hated him now, she just couldn't dump his entirety in bad words just yet, "Second, h.e.l.l yea! But don't waste your time here. You said it yourself, I'm not special."

"I'll give you a chance," Vixen grinned, he reached into his pocket and took out his phone placing it in the middle of the table, "take it or leave it.

Regan looked at his phone and back up to him, a smile itching at her lips. She reached out and grabbed the phone, "you sure know how to make deals."
