Kohra

As if a.s.signing me a consort wasn't bad enough, I had to marry him? The council was getting on my nerves way too much. I felt like ripping them all to pieces.

"On the morn of the Craithi festival, you will be married to Lesker" Mother had said.

"Why?"

"It's the festival of fertility. Maybe Muni would have mercy on you and give you a daughter that would become queen"

"Mother, do you hear yourself right now? You're rambling like a drunkard"

"Kohra! Don't be so mean"

"How else would I restore your sanity mother? Muni would rather stick a spear in my guts than give me a child. I hate her and she hates me"

"Blasphemy is a very serious offence my dear. If he council hears you....."

"The council and Muni can go suck it"

"You are the priestess Kohra! Act like it!" She yells at me.

I sigh shakily and point at the door.

"Mother, I think it's time to leave"

"Very well" she says and she leaves.

And that was how I started my morning; fighting with my mother. I hate fighting with her. I love her so much and hate to upset her but sometimes, she's just too much. So, I agreed to the marriage.

You know, looking back, I never did regret my decision. I did it to make my mother happy, the same way I became queen to make her happy. At least if I can't fufil my dreams, I can fulfil hers.

Jeir had a full blown laughing fit as I was fitted in my wedding dress. A coil of chaos magix wrapped around her throat and choked her. When I was tired of torturing her, I released her. I dared her to continue laughing with my eyes. She fortunately didn't.

A Queen's wedding was naturally a huge affair. All the Governors were invited to the palace and they brought their sons along, in hopes I would chose another consort. It was really all annoying.

Lesker didn't look too bad in his wedding attire, only very uncomfortable. I'm glad he was as uncomfortable as me. I would make him more uncomfortable but everyone was watching us so I refrained.

The rites pa.s.sed in a blur. A wedding chant, blessing of the couple and the thread. The thread was a white common sowing thread. It turned golden when two were joined in spirit and soul. We just had to drink the wine to complete the ceremony.

Mine had a drop of Lesker's blood in it while his had a drop of my blood. I smirked as I drank the wine. He hesitated but poured it down, gagging a bit. The monks of Burmi stayed away from anything that would defile them including blood and wine. Hence why they never got married. It must've been very difficult for him to drink the wine.

The wedding was over so it was time for the ball. I hated b.a.l.l.s more than I did morning court. The Governors were all smiley as they brought up their sons for introduction. They even had a talent display to impress me. To say I wasn't impressed was putting it lightly.

"Prince Consort Lesker, why don't you show us your talent?" One of the Governors say. He was male, a young one at that. I stare at him pointedly and look away. Him making Lesker uncomfortable instead of me, made me a little....mad.

"I would, if her majesty agrees" Lesker replies. I fight the urge to facepalm and punch his face in. Why would he put me in the spotlight like that? I was getting angry.

"Do whatever you want" I say, waving them off. Lesker stands and goes to the canvas on the stage in the ballroom. He picks up his paintbrush and begins to paint.

His hands start off shaky but as time went on, it became smoother and turned to a relaxing rhythm. It almost felt like magi. It was strange because Mother told me he had no magi. My consort just got a lot more...interesting.

He's done and we're all disappointed it's over. He had us all in a hypnotic spell which we never wanted to wake up from.

"This piece, I'm dedicating to my mother-in-law. I'm sorry if I can't get a better wedding gift" he says, showing us a potrait of mother. It's a painting of her in a side swept veil.

"It's a wonderful gift. Thank you" mother says and accepts the painting. He smiles and returns to my side. His satisfactory smile annoys me. I don't know why, it just does.

The festivities end and it's time to settle in for the night. I have to sleep beside my consort for the night. How delightful.
