Chapter 44 People Without Manner

When the Wei Changying was guessing the ident.i.ty of the two people who had accompanied Wei Qing to the mountain, the two men also noticed her. Wei Changying's garnet red robe was really eye-catching in the emerald green Little Bamboo Hill, and the four maidservants who were graciously serving beside her were also well dressed. So it could be seen that they were not ordinary women.

Although after hearing the cough, Wei Chang immediately subconsciously pulled down the veil. But the mountain breeze lifted, as she followed the sound to look at the mountain path, the veil was blown up again. Wei Changying quickly raised her hand to press it. Between the wide sleeves, the gorgeous garnet red set off her finger like beautiful and crystal jade. Even her action was fast, the veil was light and soft so that after being pressed, it rolled upside down and stroked on her face. Therefore, one side of her niveous cheek and chin was still revealed.

Her skin was like ice and snow and the robe was bright red, but she was surrounded by the bamboo forest which looked even more green and luxuriant after the rain last night.

She was like a touch of red shadow among the greens, and her clothes were floating as if she had been flying among the green mountains.

Although people could not get a full view of her, with simply a glance, they could still get a glimpse of the beauty. Because of this glimpse, people would be able to imagine what a beautiful appearance was under the veil. This kind of encounter was like a tale in the mountains which would make people almost suspect that they had really met the celestial being in the mountains.

Such a distinct scene was really impressive.

The two people who came up the mountain with Wei Qing could not help but look at her a few more times.

Yet, that was all. Lvfang sensed that there were outsiders approaching so that she hurriedly moved in front of Wei Changying, and Lvchi and Lvbin quickly came forward to fix the veil for the master.

As a matter of fact….

Wei Qing's coughed was not only to remind Wei Changying to put down the veil but also to suggest her to return to the house. However, Wei Changying still stumbled on walking. If Wei Qing had been the only one here, she would not have minded. Yet, the two men who followed Wei Qing up the mountain were unidentified, and she didn't want strangers to see her walking stiff. Thus, she didn't move after finis.h.i.+ng fixing her veil.

Seeing this, a man who came up the mountain with Wei Qing asked tentatively, “The Miss by the stream, is it convenient for me to come forward and greet you?”

This was not offensive. Although Wei Changying was beautifully dressed and had young maidservants around her, she wore a curtained hat and could not be seen her hairpins so that people could not know if she was married or not. Last night, Wei Qing only told them that there were womenfolk of the family on the mountain, and even Wei Changfeng had only stayed for sake of the womenfolk. Now the women obviously saw the visitors, but she didn't leave. Who would know if this woman was an elder of the Wei Family? So she stopped moving just to wait for them to come up to greet?

But Wei Qing knew that was Wei Changying and shook his head, “That's the First Miss of the family. I think she got up early and saw no one around so that she came to the stream for leisure.”

She was not an elder, but a young woman so that it would not be appropriate for them to come up. The person who asked before hurriedly apologized, “It's impolite for me.”

“Young Master Gu is too polite.” Wei Qing smiled gently. He thought of that last night these people came to the Little Bamboo Hill to take shelter from the rain but were stopped by Wei Family's bodyguards. After some conflicts, someone went up to the mountain to report this, and he accompanied Wei Changfeng to deal with this. It seemed to be nine o'clock at night, and the lights on this side of the bedroom had been dimmed. The two misses must have gone to bed early and didn't know about this matter.

Otherwise, Wei Changying would never trance here by the stream near the mountain path at this time.

Originally, if Gu Yiran didn't mention it, Wei Changying had some distance from them that Wei Qing was going to pa.s.s by her. Now that he had asked, Wei Qing could not continue to pretend not to see Wei Changying, so he arched his hand to the side of the stream, which was regarded as a greeting.

Seeing him like this, Gu Yiran and another person also arched their hands to greet far away.

Seeing this, Wei Changying became increasingly sure that the two men were outsiders. She held the curtained hat and saluted back. She was upset that she could not walk fast now so that she would not be able to go back to the house before the three people. She inwardly sighed and said to the attendants, “Let's walk to the backside. Wei Qing led the two men up the mountain. They must be going to see Changfeng. Let's wait until they are gone and then go back to the house.”

There was only one door at the hall of the hut. Ordinarily, Wei Changying could think about leaving through the window. Now, she had injured so that she could only elude them.

…But then, these two outsiders, why would they come so early to see Changfeng? Wei Changying was curious so that she looked at them carefully through the cover of the curtained hat.

The person in the middle who had talked with Wei Qing wore bamboo-green clothes with large sleeves and broad waistband. He also wore a bamboo green crest on the head, which was very suitable for the Little Bamboo Hill. Because Wei Changying was embarra.s.sed to stare at him and under the cover of the veil, she only glanced at his appearance, which seemed to a good set of features.

The man who had not spoken had not yet reached 20 years old, and his stature was similar to Wei Qing. He wore a light cyan coat and a jade ring to bind the hair. The two strangers had a good demeanor. As they walked with wide sleeves and high clogs on the road covered with fallen leaves, they looked like the profound scholars who woke up early and visited the mountain.

After being surprised by Wei Qing, Wei Changying saw the man in bamboo green talking to Wei Qing when she looked towards them. At this time, she was too embarra.s.sed to stare at the man in light cyan clothes and did not see his appearance clearly.

However, while the man in the light cyan clothes looked like a gentleman, his conduct seemed to be a little frivolous. Although he didn't say a word when he saw Wei Changying, he paid a lot of attention to her. Even after he walked past, he still looked back at her. In a coincidence, Wei Changying also happened to look at them in doubt. Therefore, this made both of them startled and immediately looked away….

Wei Changying settled her mind. When she looked at them again, she saw that Wei Qing had already taken them into the house.

“Looking at the costume and Wei Qing's att.i.tude, both of them should also be the children and members of a well-known family.” Wei Changying wondered, “They are members of the Wei Family. Why don't ask help from uncles or grandfather if they have matters to solve? Why would they come to find Changfeng? And they don't look like they're in a hurry. If there is no emergency, my cousin and I are now recovering from injuries on this mountain and I have never seen them before. If there is no emergency, how could Changfeng and Wei Qing allow them to come up?”

Lvfang saw that Wei Changying stood still and silent after she said that she would take shelter at the back of the house. After waiting for a moment, she asked softly, “Miss?”

“Let's go to the back of the house.” Wei Changying stopped thinking around and nodded.

At the back of the hut was a clearing. Not only the bamboo shoots had been pulled out, but also the gra.s.s had been removed again and again, which was very spa.r.s.e. This was to prevent snakes, worms and other things from growing in it and sneaking into the house.

On the first day they arrived at the mountain, Wei Changying had already accompanied Song Zaishui to come to the back of the house. However, she didn't expect that only after two days, a bamboo pavilion was constructed not far away.

Wei Changying was stupefied for a moment and then pointed to the pavilion which was obvious hastily built up by the newly cut bamboo not far away, “What is this?”

Lvfang and other three girls had been staying around Wei Changying these days, and they were worried about how Madam Song would punish them after returning home. Therefore, they had no time caring about other things. But now, they were as surprised by the appearance of this bamboo pavilion like Wei Changying.

The old maidservant, who was asked to follow Wei Changying to make sure that everything went well before she left the house by Huaping, came forward to report, “This was constructed yesterday because the fifth young master said that the scenery here was quiet and it would be better to build a pavilion. When Madam heard this, she asked the craftsmen to come up and construct it.”

The bamboo pavilion was made from the bamboo at the foot of the Little Bamboo Hill. The hill was not high. The craftsmen only needed to construct the bamboo pavilion at the foot of the mountain and transported up to build it at the location of the constructed subgrade which was selected by Wei Changfeng. It would not take long to finish the work. This is would make the construction process fast and convenient and would not make too much noise. Of course, the style of the pavilion was not complicated. The hut in front of the pavilion was also shabby so that the two constructions were commensurate to each other.

Wei Changying asked with a smile, “Was it last night? I thought I heard some noise.”

The old maidservant was stunned and said, “First Miss, it was done before noon yesterday, not in the evening. After it was done, the fifth young master even sat down in it for a while and praised the craftsmen.”

“Oh.” Wei Changying said thoughtfully, “So why was there noisy last night?”

This time even the old maidservant could not answer. She was ashamed and said, “I slept soundly so I didn't hear anything.”

“It has been hard for you these days.” Wei Changying saw that she actually did not know about it, so she did not intend to embarra.s.s her, “It's convenient that Changfeng asked someone to build this pavilion. Let's go inside and sit for a moment. I'm feeling a little tired.”

Hearing her say that she was tired, everyone became nervous, and the two old female servants rushed into the pavilion to wipe it. Only Wei Changfeng had sat for a while in this newly built pavilion. And there was not much dust because it was located in the mountain and among the bamboos. However, after one night of rain, the rain had wet the pavilion, and layers of bamboo leaves were on it because there was no shelter around the pavilion.

After tidying up, Wei Changying was invited to sit down in the pavilion. The bamboo pavilion had eight corners and stood on the side of the stream. A leaning bench happened to be above the surface of the stream which made it seem poetic.

Lvfang looked around and said apologetically, “I forgot to bring some tea and refreshments when I came out. I will go back to have a look at the kitchen.”

The kitchen was located at the side of the east house where the child servants used to live. People did not need to pa.s.s the main hall so that Wei Changfeng's meeting with his guests would not be disturbed. Wei Changying then nodded, “Go ahead.”

Lvfang quickly brought back hot tea and spring rolls. Wei Changying ate two rolls and drank a cup of tea, thinking when the people brought by Wei Qing would take their leave.

She was about to ask someone to go to the front to inquire about it but saw a figure coming around behind the hut not far away. At first, she thought it was Wei Changfeng who had sent the guests away and sent someone to her. Unexpectedly, when she took a closer look, she realized it was Wei Qing!

And behind him were the people who went up the mountain with him before!

Wei Changying was surprised because her veil was lifted due to drinking tea and she forgot to put it down right away. She whispered to herself, “Why would Wei Qing bring people to the back of the house?”

Wei Qing was the children from the Wei Family and was personally selected by Wei Huan to serve his lineal grandsons so that he would not do anything bad to the Wei Family. In addition to this, there was no noise at all coming from the hut. Wei Changfeng was surrounded by not only other guards but also maidservants such as Xinli!

Yet, if he had no bad intentions, why would he bring outsiders here?

While Wei Changying was surprised and unsettled, Wei Qing was also a little astounded. He knew that First Miss Wei could not even get up after she was injured that day. Even if she could walk now, she could not walk as comfort as before. Otherwise, when he met her by the stream, Wei Changying would not have to only pull down the veil and stand still when she encountered strangers.

Considering that people he brought were going to see the Wei Changfeng, this would block Miss's way back to her room again. In addition to this, there was not much s.p.a.ce on the Little Bamboo Hill so that he was afraid that the Wei Changying had nowhere to go and would be embarra.s.sed when encountering them. He also worried that Wei Changying was still staying at the previous place when they left so that people would misunderstand that the First Miss of the Wei Family did not avoid meeting men outside the family several times.

Therefore, as soon as Wei Qing went out just now, he suggested the rest of two people that there was a path behind their hut which had good scenery. Of course, his saying of good scenery was made up by him for this path was only constructed in the past two days on the purpose of building the bamboo pavilion.

Although the two men guessed that Wei Qing was deliberately avoiding the woman of the family they b.u.mped into when they came, they still agreed with the suggestion of Wei Qing.

In the end…

They ran into Wei Changying again!

And this time, Wei Changying was obviously so surprised that she even forgot that half of her veil was lifted on the curtained hat. The veil was long enough to cover her chest. It still covered the tip of her nose when half-lifted, but half of her face was still revealed. For a daughter of an eminent family, this was very offensive.

Seeing the surprise in Wei Qing's eyes, Wei Changying also came to her senses. She hurriedly pulled up the veil and whispered, “Mrs. Feng, come to the front of me.”

Mrs. Feng was one of the old maidservants accompanying Wei Changying. She was originally standing back to the hut so that she did not know that there were strangers pa.s.sing by. Hearing the words, she subconsciously looked back and immediately understood the situation. She moved quickly as everyone also tacitly changed their standing positions to cover Wei Changying.

Although everything happened within several seconds, Wei Changying was so annoyed that she thought secretly that she would have to ask Changfeng later about this. How could she not able to stay quietly when recovering her injuries? Not to mention that people she didn't know were led to come up the mountain, how could they run into her in both the front and the back of the house?

While pinching the tea bowl and being annoyed, she saw that among the three people who had already turned their steps and planned to go down the mountain backtracking, the man in the light cyan clothes looked back again. This action was seen by Wei Changying from the bottom of Mrs. Feng's sleeve and made her even angrier. Unexpectedly, the man in the light cyan clothes didn't immediately withdraw his sight and catch up with his companions as he did before. Instead, his facial expression changed and shouted, “Don't move!”

Wei Changying was stunned, but she saw a flash of cold light come from his hand and go straight to the top of her head!
