Chapter 35 An Accident

When the six brothers of Feng Family and Xuanyu She were almost about to commit suicide, Sheng Weiqiao just woke up slowly.

When she opened her eyes and saw that the curtain above her head was shaking, she thought it was because of the wind. But then when she felt that the place where she was lying was also shaking steadily, she was freaking out and sat up suddenly. Looking out of the porthole beside the bed, there was a vast sea outside!

Sheng Weiqiao was stunned immediately!!!

First, she pinched her arm hard. After confirming that she was not dreaming, she picked up the neatly folded clothes on the side of the bed in a hurry and quickly got dressed. Then she looked around in horror: this was a very simple bedroom and there was nothing inside except a bed, a curtain, a desk, a chair, and a screen.

There was a set of four treasures of study on the desk. The water stains in inkstone were still not dry and it seemed that it has been used just now.

In general, this place was too strange to let her feel shocked.

… But the quilt on the bed looked very familiar. It seemed to be the one she had used when she was set in Orange Osmanthus Courtyard. Maybe someone had carried her together with the quilt to the boat?

Sheng Weiqiao's eyes went back and forth between the inkstone and the quilt for a while, and then she looked at the door of the room which was not far away, twisting the edge of her clothes. In the end, she decided to go out and find out who had brought her over here?!

However, before going out, she quietly hid a short hairpin that she had put on her clothing before in her palm.

Although she knew that if she met a strong man, this dull hairpin which hadn't been polished would be useless. But at this moment and at this place, holding something in her hand could make her calmer.

After mentally preparing herself, Sheng Weiqiao took a deep breath and opened the door resolutely!

… There was nothing outside the door.

There was just a narrow hallway and it was a little dim because of the cabins on both sides.

Sheng Weiqiao held her breath in deep concentration and listened intently for a while before she tried taking a step.

Every time she pa.s.sed by one door, she put her ear near to the door and listened, and then knocked on the door carefully.

But after she had walked all the way through, no response came from any doors.

As Sheng Weiqiao became more and more confused and afraid, she suddenly heard someone talking.

Although the voice was distorted because of the layers of s.h.i.+pboards, she still found the voice a little bit familiar.

She followed the voice and walked for a short distance, and she saw a downward staircase. Sheng Weiqiao lifted her hem, tiptoed, and went down as silently as possible. In order to save s.p.a.ce, the stairs on the boat were extremely narrow. And because they were sandwiched between two cabins, it was also dark even on the day.

If it had been before, Sheng Weiqiao would not dare to go down. But now she appeared on the boat somehow and she suddenly heard a familiar voice, so naturally, she had to see what was going on.

Who knew that when she was moving down to the bottom of the stairs step by step and looking outside carefully, she was so scared that she almost tumbled out!

A dozen of bruisers with naked upper bodies were kneeling on the ground and dared not raise their heads.

There were also two men who looked like their bosses kneeling a little in front of them. There was a long scar on the left person's face. It made his fierce look even worse. At this moment, there were several new holes in the arms and thighs which were bleeding continuously. She didn't know why he hadn't bandaged them but just kept kowtowing.

The person on the right was estimated to be the most handsome one among the kneeling people. He looked quite young, like fifteen or sixteen. There was still a sense of rawness between the eyebrows. He had no wound on his body, only some undried bloodstains on the corners of his mouth, his chest, and the floor in front of him; his face was also very pale. Now he was looking at the people on the couch which was not far away with a recalcitrant and stubborn look.

Sheng Weiqiao also gave a glance in that direction subconsciously, and she exclaimed in a high voice, “How could it be you?!”

The man was sixteen or seventeen years old, with eyebrows like swords and eyes like stars. He had a beautiful appearance and had the heroic power that a man should have. He wore a black s.h.i.+rt and boots and draped a dark coat. His slightly pale face looked like a sculpture made by lychee frozen jade. There was no sense of a real human on his face—it was exactly Sheng Shuihe!

From the moment he entered the door of Sheng Family, he always kept a slight smile when he met someone, which made him very pleasing and harmless. So, although Sheng Weiqiao hated him, she never felt that he was terrifying.

But now Sheng Shuihe restrained his smile. Although he hadn't made a fierce expression, the slightly drooping long eyelashes, indifferent eyes, and tight thin lips, all revealed a sense of coldness.

He even looked a little bit gruesome when he occasionally looked at those people whose foreheads were almost pressing against the deck.

Sheng Weiqiao saw clearly that when Sheng Shuihe's eyes pa.s.sing by the comely young man, who had a stubborn look on his face trembled subconsciously with clear fear in his eyes!

“You are awake, my younger sister?” However, before Sheng Weiqiao started saying anything, Sheng Shuihe tilted his head slightly. When he looked at her, he immediately recovered his lightness and liveliness he had when he was in Sheng Family.

He even didn't care about the people kneeling on the ground when he was talking. He walked directly to Sheng Weiqiao, held her arm, and walked upstairs.

Sheng Weiqiao was taken upstairs blankly by him. When she almost returned to the cabin where she came out, she suddenly realized the reality and she shook his hand off, saying vigilantly, “Why are we here? Where are Cousin Feng and Cousin Xuanyu? And where is Brother Xu? What do you want to do?!”

“Do you remember what I have told you about my adoption?” Sheng Shuihe looked at her skeptical eyes and said with a light smile, “I received a piece of news two days ago that my foster elder brother had been trapped in a secret scheme and he was in a very dangerous situation! So, I planned to go back and help him, but your father didn't agree anyhow. He detained me inside Sheng Family and didn't allow me to leave. So, I could only take the opportunity to accompany you to Orange Osmanthus Courtyard to congratulate Eldest Childe of Feng Family and arranged my underlings to mix in. I had added some special herbal incense into the fan fragrance which was used to fumigate the room so that I could get away at night.”

When he said this, he felt a little sorry and said, “I was to leave alone, but my underlings decided to bring you with me all by himself. Because I had also been poisoned by the special herbal incense last night and I discovered this just now. The boat has left the land now and I'm in a hurry, but I have no time to send you back specifically. I have to write a pigeon letter to your father and ask him to send a fast s.h.i.+p to pick you up!”

“Why did they take me?” Sheng Weiqiao asked nervously, “Did they want to avenge you on me?!”

“Is your elder brother such a narrow-minded man?” Sheng Shuihe touched her head lovingly and retracted his hand before she turned away in horror. He said in a smile, “Besides, if I really wanted to get revenge on you, how could I give my bedroom to you? It will be easier to just throw you into the sea to feed sharks, right?”

Seeing Sheng Weiqiao's eyes widen instantly and she was about to cry, he was afraid that he had teased her too much. He pretended to cough immediately and said with a serious look, “The reason they had brought you is that they wanted your father to help my foster elder brother. Did you just see it? I'm punis.h.i.+ng them for this!”

“Why did you keep saying 'your father'?” Sheng Weiqiao pursed her lips and said in shock, “You are not my father's child?!”

“I won't be later.” There was a regret expression on Sheng Shuihe's face and he sighed, “Thinking of the huge amount of wealth of Sheng Family really causes me a little heartache… or my younger sister, could you advise your father to give my foster elder brother more benefit because I just walk away straightforwardly?”

Sheng Weiqiao ignored his teasing and said with her eyebrows frowning, “What does that 'later' mean? Are you my father's child or not?!”

“My sister, are you regretting that you didn't treat me better at the beginning?” Sheng Shuihe said with a smile, “Are you going to recognize me as your elder brother?”

“Bah! Who wants to call you brother?!” Unsurprisingly, Sheng Weiqiao denied immediately and she didn't keep asking this question. She said angrily, “It will be great if you just walk away! Then you couldn't be my eyesore!”

After hearing her words, Sheng Shuihe remained smiling and said, “Oh? Do you hate me this much? I suddenly regretted it. When I finish helping my foster elder brother, I will definitely go back to Sheng Family. I will vie with you for the property and for love. I will make complaints against you in front of grandfather every day and make you be locked in the ancestral hall so that you will be frightened by the Green Fire and you will cry and regret it every night!”

Satisfied to see Sheng Weiqiao's face turned pale, he asked kindly, “Don't say that your elder brother doesn't care about you. Come here, tell your younger brother again, will you be well-behaved or not later? Will you be obedient to me?”

“….” Sheng Weiqiao set her mouth in a grim line. Finally, she couldn't help but run into the cabin with tears and slammed the door hard, “Why should I be obedient to you? I hate you the most!!!”

Sheng Shuihe smiled outside the door, then he turned his head and said quietly to the person in the near corner, “She probably won't go out these days, let alone ask to see me. But you still need to keep an eye on her and don't let her run around casually. We are understaffed now, and the boat is big, so no one would know if she fell into the sea accidentally.”

The person in the corner bowed silently. When he lowered his head, his face was shown a little. It was the handsome young man who had kneeled at the forefront before.

Sheng Shuihe thought that even if the pigeon letter was fast, it would take at least a day or two to catch up with them after Sheng Lanci received the news and rushed to the sea to dispatch a boat at the fastest speed. He had been left in Sheng Family before and he didn't know much about his foster elder brother's situation but he needed to sort out his thoughts at this time urgently and he didn't have time to deal with Sheng Weiqiao perfunctorily. There was no other person who was suited to coax this Miss Sheng, so he just frightened the girl and made her not disturb him.

But who knew that a boat caught up in the afternoon!

Of course, it wasn't Sheng Lanci who had caught up at this time, but Xu Baomo. After receiving the report, Sheng Shuihe sighed and said, “I have underestimated this Marquis' Young Lord. I didn't expect that he had not only detected our action but also had the ability to find a boat and catch up with us without the help of Sheng Family!”

Due to Xu Baomo's status, Sheng Family could never make him involved in this dangerous thing in person anyway. Now he appeared at sea personally, which apparently meant that he hadn't tell Sheng Family at all.

“On the contrary, I think he is stupid. He is lucky that he meets you this time. If it was someone else, he might not have the chance to go back.” The person standing behind him said in a cold voice, “His Marquis' Young Lord ident.i.ty is useless at sea!”

Sheng Shuihe held his jaw with his hand and said, “He is here now so that he can just pick her up. Then we don't have to slow down the schedule deliberately and we can hurry at full speed. Call someone to send a semaph.o.r.e and let that boat come up and take the gangplank!”

After receiving the signal, Xu Baomo really took some people from the gangplank to the boat over here. Sheng Shuihe did not show up in person, but only ask someone to take Sheng Weiqiao from the upstairs and give her to him.

After seeing the angry but intact Sheng Weiqiao, Xu Baomo heaved a sigh of relief secretly. Since it was not easy to ask her more in public, he just comforted her and hinted her to hurry to his boat. He asked, “What about my younger brother?”

“He's going back to meet his foster elder brother!” It was Scarface who came out to talk to him. He smiled and didn't answer it when he heard it. Sheng Weiqiao, who was on the gangplank, hearing that, glanced back unhappily and said, “He said he wouldn't go back to Sheng Family. Who cares!”

Xu Baomo was taken aback after hearing that. He looked at the inside of the cabin in suspicion and looked at Sheng Weiqiao again. He hesitated for a while, but he didn't keep asking and accompanied Sheng Weiqiao to his own boat. Watching the gangplank had been withdrawn and the two boats gradually parted, he whispered to Sheng Weiqiao, “Is Hengshu younger brother fine on the s.h.i.+p?”

“All the people on the s.h.i.+p were all his subordinates, what could happen to him?” Sheng Weiqiao thought of Sheng Shuihe's threat before, and she was still a little bit angry. So, after saying that in hatred, she finally realized that she should thank Xu Baomo, “Thanks to Brother Xu this time, otherwise I would have to wait a few days before I could go back…. By the way, how did Brother Xu catch up?”

Didn't Sheng Shuihe say that the whole building was fumigated with special incense last night?
