"Welcome, Mr. Jeffries, Mrs. Jeffries." Clifford greeted them politely.
"You're already here. Hmm, I like that! That's why you outs.h.i.+ne all business compet.i.tors." It was Mr. Jeffries who spoke.
"As long as it is for the good and benefit of our valued clients and our future product amba.s.sadors, I must say." Clifford smiled with full of confidence that Ingrid will really pull this through.
"Isn't he charming, darling?" it's the wife who praised him.
"More charming than me?" the husband arched his brow.
"Of course not." The wife grinned. Clifford cleared his throat jokingly.
"Ow..sorry, we are used to tease each other wherever we go and whoever we are with." The woman informed him gently.
"It's okay. Shall we now proceed to your suite?"
"Ahh yes. Let's go."
After he accompanied the couple he went straight to his presidential suite to check his e-mails. He was also waiting for his pilot's report regarding Ingrid's departure time. But he received no updates, so he just decided to relax a bit and have a bath when he saw that it's already time for lunch.
After he took a bath, he ordered lunch and sat alone on his hotel room's balcony. He savoured every bit of his food as he appreciated the beauty of nature before him. When was he felt something like this? So relax and nothing to think about, but just to enjoy his surroundings?
"Ahh, how I wish they're already here with me."
While he was savouring his food and the nature, he saw a small family having a good time in the beach. He was so captivated by the sight of them that he never left his eyes on them. It gives him a tug in his heart that he could not make sense of it.
His phone buzzed, and then he checked who sent him a message.
He automatically dialled the pilot's number.
"Eric, who is with Ingrid when she arrives tomorrow?" he immediately asked without any greeting, as he is so eager to know if Clark will be around.
"As far as I know sir, she will arrive there alone tomorrow without her secretary." Eric thought that his boss is referring to her secretary. He holds his phone tightly before.
"Oh really? Thanks!" his heart sank after he heard Eric's reply.
'If only I pulled some strings before I went here. If only I listened to my gut feelings.' He thought.
But he knew in his heart that it is never his habit to base his decisions in gut feelings. He always weighs things; think it thoroughly and then examine it again before he finally decides. However, what is done is done, and all he could do now is just to heave a deep sigh a little regret.
He never noticed that a pair of eyes was silently observing him from a distance; she excused herself to her companions and hurriedly walked to catch Clifford's tracks. It's been five years since she saw him. She wouldn't miss this opportunity to ask how was he been lately. She felt so excited thinking about those incident years ago.
"Mr. Briggs.." she called his attention when she was nearing him. He outrightly stopped his tracks and turned to the person who called him with a cold gaze.
'Who is this brave woman who just called me?' he frowned inwardly.
"And who would you be?" he asked with arrogance in his bearing. The woman laughed.
"You forgot who I am? It's me Dr. Sam, Samantha Miers." His eyes narrowed and racked his brain by trying to remember who she is.
When he finally did, his eyes widen by surprise.
He decided to stroll down the beach and breathe some fresh air and have some time to think. The moment he arrived at the seash.o.r.e, most of the young women swoon upon seeing him. E could hear that some even shriek and giggled and tried to catch his attention, but he ignored all of them and focused on clearing what's in his mind.
