"Gary reported to me about the result of these rumors about us and he said that the company's stocks skyrocketed the moment the issue were in bloom."
"Woah! That was the first time, is this some kind of a joke? It's unbelievable!" she exclaimed
"It is, I could not believe it either, but Gary gave me the data, here take a look."
While Ingrid was checking on it, Clifford instructed the driver that he will be the one to drive the car and that he would just be drop off outside the company.
After that, Clifford immediately took over to the driver seat. "Ingrid, please sit here beside me,"
"But Clark is alone here," Ingrid tried to evade him.
"Will it be okay with you son if your mother sits beside me?" Clifford winked at the child.
"I love that. It's like we are a family! Yay! Mom, go move to the pa.s.senger's seat, I'm a big boy now. Don't worry about me okay? Right uncle Cliff?" the child grinned.
"That's my boy!"
Ingrid could no longer protest because both of them were going against her and she has no strength left to argue with them. So she just sat beside Clifford without any argument.
"But where are we going?" she looked at Clifford who was smiling from ear to ear.
"To my hidden paradise."
"Yay!! Paradise! I love paradise." Clark clapped his hands out of excitement.
"But why?" She is perplexed.
"Well, reporters are everywhere and both our homes were surrounded by paparazzi and we still need a rest so I planned to bring you in my secret place."
"But–"
"No buts this time, Ingrid. I'm tired, you're tired and we also need to plan things carefully for tomorrow. Besides, I know that my father or your father will talk to us, so it's best that we already have rested before we face them."
"It's as if that we have done something and those rumors are true!" she pouted her lips and she felt defeated.
"We could make it come true if you want."
"As if!" she glared at him which makes Clifford laughs.
"You always amuse me, my sweet!" Clifford reached for her hand but Ingrid slapped his hand instead. Clifford again chuckled.
"Don't you dare call me your sweet, because I am not."
"Is it because you are not my sweet? Or you're not sweet?" he teased.
"Will you just please focus driving?" she looks askance by the side of him angrily.
"Mommy, are you both fighting?" Ingrid glared Clifford.
"No, baby, we are just teasing each other. Don't mind us."
Both of them mutually stopped talking. Anf because of exhaustion, Ingrid could no longer fight her eyelids to close so she fell asleep and she did not notice were they were heading.
"Uncle Cliff, are we near to your paradise?"
"Almost there, Clark," he answered gleefully.
"But Uncle Cliff, my mom is still asleep, what should we do? We should not wake her up because I know she is tired. Poor mommy..."
Clark tried to reach her mother's face to caress it, so Clifford slowed down his driving. He was so moved observing the child's gesture which makes him remember that he would often do that to his mom when he was little.
"You do love your mom so much, don't you?"
"Yes, because she is the best mom in the whole wide world. But there's still one missing with us.. my daddy. Can you help me find him, uncle Cliff? My mom seems unable to locate him."
"Did she tell you his name?"
"Na uh! She doesn't want to talk about it. If you still can't find him then I'll do it when I grow up." Clifford chuckled.
"Well, if that's the case, tell me where would you start looking for him?" Clifford tested the child's way of thinking.
Clark looked at the rooftop of the car, then on his left and right while he puts his point finger on his lips. It took him two minutes to answer Clifford's question.
"Well...?"
"Ahh, I know, I know! The doctor! I'll ask first the doctor who a.s.sisted mom when she gave birth to me... because I saw it one time in a doc.u.mentary that I watched that all mothers who gave birth to their child were all a.s.sisted by a doctor. And the father was waiting outside some were with the mother while they give birth."
That struck Clifford.
