A week before that fateful day...

"Jun Ren! Manager Lin would like to see you in her office!"

A young man in brown khaki pants and blue polo was stacking boxes upon boxes of merchandise that was due for s.h.i.+pment in less than 4 hours, he paused briefly to look at the co-worker that had come to deliver the message from one of the higher ups in the factory where he worked. The faded blue polo had a tag that read "Mo Hunang, Team member" which had seen many rounds of hard water and soap.

"Manager Lin? Did she tell you what it is about?!"

Of moderate build and average looks, Jun Ren seemed to tower over the robust shorter colleague of his, whose round belly looked more like that of a football that anything else. His flabby cheeks showed beads of sweat and on closer look the underarm of the polo had turned a dark color.

"How should I know! Why don't you go and see her yourself and find out?!!"

"Mehn! Even if you ate exactly the same thing, you would only blow up more, just keep doing what you've been doing all this while! Keep up the good job man!"

"Do you think I'm actually losing weight?! I got a discounted gym members.h.i.+p from one of my drinking pals! Who would have thought that I'm already seeing results!"

The sarcasm in the words of Jun Ren was lost on the other man, who thought that his co-worker was praising his new found weight loss.
