"Hmm, would these points still expire if I were to deposit them in this bank?" Zhou Lei wondered. "...There's only one way to find out!"
Thinking this, he tapped the "Deposit" b.u.t.ton quickly. Another prompt opened.
"How much would you like to deposit?", it said in the dialogue box.
"Hmm..." Zhou Lei fell into contemplation. He thought that he should just deposit the right amount. Suddenly, he remembered something. "Ah, that's right! My sister's luck is still horrible!"
He recalled that the value of his sister's luck was at -40. He was thinking of raising it up to at least 50 points. "...160 points!" Zhou Lei uttered after doing the math.
After saying this, a number appeared on the dialogue box. "Are you sure you want to deposit: 160 points?"
"Yes! Faster!" Zhou Lei was getting more and more anxious about the time limit.
"Processing..." A throbber[1] appeared on the screen, and it started to spin, indicating that it was loading.
"..."
After another five seconds, the throbber disappeared, and a notification popped up. "Your deposit has been registered."
Without even reading what was written on the notification, Zhou Lei quickly exited the shop interface and returned to the stats interface. He quickly scrolled down, searching for his sister's stats.
"Ah, there they are!" Zhou Lei finally found them.
Luck was one of the main stats, so it didn't take long for Zhou Lei to find it amidst all of the other stats that were available for upgrade.
Without hesitation, Zhou Lei upgraded his sister's abysmal luck.
"Are you sure you want to put 90 points on: Sister's Luck?"
"Yes!" As he said this affirmation, he exited System altogether and looked at the time. "Twelve... 12:06? What?"
Zhou Lei was confused.
He really took that long? He thought that he took 2 or 3 minutes at most. It turns out that he had actually taken 8 minutes, four times of his estimate.
There was also the fact that it was past midnight already. Why were the points still available to me then? Could it be another bug?
Just as he was thinking about what could've happened, another notification popped up.
"System is a prototype, so he is p.r.o.ne to bugs. I hope this won't affect your experience!" The cute female voice sounded out in his mind again.
"Ninth system bug discovered." System's monotone voice said.
"Hmm? What? Why isn't the bug stated? Could this be a bug as well?" Zhou Lei curiously asked.
In truth, however, this was not a bug, but rather, the author was just too lazy to describe the bug itself- wait, scratch that.
"Well, I don't care anyway." Zhou Lei brushed off that matter.
However, as soon as he did, another notification appeared. Curious, Zhou Lei opened it.
"Sorry, I didn't state it clearly. I meant that the freebie points will be available until midnight the next day." Zhou Lei heard a familiar female voice, the one that always spoke when a bug was discovered.
"..."
At this moment, Zhou Lei was dumbfounded.
It... it was actually until tomorrow, huh?
How... clever! A mind trick!
"...Whatever. At least now I know." Zhou Lei muttered to himself in a low voice, clearly frustrated.
He quickly recovered from System's trickery with the knowledge that he was now extremely lucky. No incidents like this should happen again!
.....
The next day!
c.o.c.k-doodle-doo!
The rooster crowed loudly, indicating that it was already morning time.
Zhou Lei's eyes were wide open. There was a ma.s.sive pair of bags under his eyes. They were also pretty red. It was evident that he didn't sleep well, or at all.
His hands were tightly gripping his blanket as he stared at the ceiling.
"Oh, that spot looks like a face. Hahaha..." Zhou Lei's slightly psychotic voice came out of his mouth. A trace of weariness could be heard from it.
Ring, ring! Ring, ring!
Zhou Lei's pesky phone rang loudly. It was time for him to get off of his bed and get ready for school.
"I... I don't want to go to school today..." Zhou Lei muttered to himself. Of course, he could always just sleep in and not attend... This tempted Zhou Lei greatly.
Ring, ring! Ring, ring!
The phone's alarm was still not turned off, as Zhou Lei contemplated whether he should go to school or not. He could not be bothered to even tap lightly to make the phone shut up.
Ring, ring!
"What's that? Is that spot right there a lion? That's cool." Zhou Lei spoke to himself in an emotionless voice.
....
Eventually, the alarm snoozed itself. Zhou Lei noticed that the alarm had turned itself off. A look of surprise appeared on his face.
"Did I just... ignore that annoying ringtone for two minutes straight?" Zhou Lei was kind of shocked at the fact that he managed to block the alarm off of his mind. Usually, as soon as Zhou Lei heard it, he would turn it off as fast as possible.
Now, however, he was too busy thinking that he ignored the alarm completely! This was insane!
Well, sort of. Actually, maybe not.
Anyways, small matters like these made Zhou Lei calmer.
He was now a lot more relaxed than before.
If I need to sleep with my teacher, then so be it!
Zhou Lei threw aside his blanket and stood up with an enthusiastic look on his face.
Besides, I got nothing to lose here, don't I?
He took a step towards the bathroom.
Oh, wait. How about my virginity?
