I opened my eyes and saw a white ceiling. I slowly sat up and looked around.
"What happened to me?" I said out loud. I looked around and noticed that I was in a very familiar room. All of my stuff were still here. My desk filled with cute notebooks and my colored pens. I stood up from the bed and rubbed my head.
I don't remember what happened but I'm here in my room now. I opened the window and saw that it was still the same old scene. Children walking to school, cars driving by, it's like it never changed.
"I should start preparing for work." I said to myself. I ran to the bathroom to take a shower and changed into something a bit formal. This is the first day and also my first job, I need to be ready for it. I took my bag from my room and I went out. I made sure to lock the door.
As I was walking to the office, my stomach started growling. I hadn't had breakfast yet. I walked in the Taiyaki store near my house. I've always wanted to taste their Taiyaki but I couldn't afford it before.
"Irrashaimase!" The lady inside the booth said. I smiled at her. She seemed familiar. She has unusual green hair. I don't think I've seen anyone with hair that vibrant. I wonder what she uses to color her hair. I ignored my gut feeling and proceeded to buy a red bean filled Taiyaki. I left the shop carrying the bag of Taiyaki I just bought.
I wanted to eat one but they were still really hot. As I fumbled to grab one, I b.u.mped into someone. I got knocked back and I fell to the ground. Good thing I had a tight grip on my Taiyaki or else they would've gone to waste.
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going." The man who b.u.mped into me said. I looked up to see who it was. Another familiar face. His blue hair was so vibrant that it made me think of the girl in the Taiyaki shop. The color on their hair was so vibrant I honestly thought that they were born with it. But I quickly dismissed the thought. That's impossible.
The man offered his hand and I took it. He helped me up and also helped me dust off the dirt that clung to my pants.
"I'm sorry about that!" He said once again. I smiled and shook my head.
"It's alright! I wasn't hurt or anything and my Taiyakis are still intact!" I said jokingly. He cracked a smile. I looked at him and he was dressed up as I am. I wondered if we were headed to the same place.
"Are you going to X Company?" I asked. He looked at me and nodded.
"I'm going there as well. Why don't we go there together?" I offered. He smiled and nodded. While walking, I offered him a Taiyaki from my bag. He graciously took one and we ate while talking.
"So, is this going to be your first day?" I asked. He took a bite before he answered.
"Yes. Is this your first day too?" He asked. I nodded my head as I swallowed the piece of taiyaki I was chewing.
"We're going to be workmates. So, what's your name?" He asked. I stopped dead in my tracks. What IS my name? I don't remember. My head started to hurt while thinking. The guy I was walking with called out to me.
"Sayori? Why did you stop?" He asked.
"What did you call me?" I asked.

"Hanako. You said your name was Hanako, right?" He said. I thought I heard him call me Sayori. Why did I think of Sayori? Who is Sayori anyway? The headaches subsided and I was back to feeling normal. As we continued to walk, it dawned on me that I don't know this man's name.
"Hey, what's your name by the way?" I asked. He turned to me and smiled.
"My name is Eiji." He said. That name… It reminds me of someone. The headaches started to come back and a face so familiar to me flashed in my head.
"I...I'm sorry, what's your name?" I asked again. He raised his eyebrows at me. He must think that I'm crazy or something.
"My name is Eren." He said. I thought I heard his name was Eiji. What's happening to me? Once the headaches subsided again, we went on our way. I kept seeing familiar faces in my head but I don't remember where I've seen them or who they are.
Once we arrived at the company, we went our separate ways. He was in a different department than me but I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again. Before he took off for the elevator, I called back to him.
"Hey Eren!" I called out. He turned around and chuckled.
"It's Eiji." He said. It made me even more confused. I thought his name was Eren. Am I going crazy?
"Anyway, can you tell me how you got your hair to be that shade of blue?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"What are you talking about, Hanako? My hair is brown. Gotta go! Let's meet again." He said as he entered the elevator. He said his hair was brown but I'm 100% sure that I saw his hair was blue. I really must be losing it. I should just focus on work.
I went to the HR department where I was supposed to start working. When I entered, a white-haired lady came up to me. Her face was so familiar I don't know where I've seen it. She must've noticed that I was staring.
"Is there something on my face?" She asked. I immediately shook my head and apologized.
"I'm sorry for staring. It's just… You're very pretty." I said. I heard her giggle. I looked up and met her gaze. There was something familiar with how her eyes looked. It's like I've seen them before but I can't seem to remember.
"My name is Miu, but you can call me Yukina." She said. There was suddenly a ringing sound in my ear. It became louder and louder until I was unable to hear anything else. I tried to cover my ears but the sound was still there. I don't understand what's happening. I felt a hand on my shoulder which made me look up. It was Yukina, looking worried.
Her eyes, why were they so familiar? It bothered me so much, I just want to know who she is and where I've seen her before. The ringing in my ear gradually stopped. Yukina looked at me, her hand on my shoulder.
"Are you okay?" She asked. I nodded slowly before I tried to regain my composure.
"What happened to you, Sayori?" She asked. I don't remember telling her my name and if I did, it wasn't Sayori. I'm not Sayori. My name is… my head was blank. I couldn't think of any other name besides Sayori. I know I'm not Sayori. I don't even know who Sayori is. I don't remember meeting someone with that name. So why is it the only name I know?
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked again. She shook me gently which made me snap out of my trance. I looked at her and smiled.
"I'm fine. I'm sorry if I scared you. I'm just… having a headache." I reasoned. Yukina smiled at me.
"That's alright! You can go to the clinic and ask for some medicine. Would you like me to go with you?" She offered. I shook my head.
"There's no need. My headache isn't that painful anyway." I said. She nodded and took something from the desk behind her.
"Well, since you said that you were fine. This will be your desk. Here is the boss' schedule so be sure to read that and familiarize yourself with his work. There will be times when the boss' father comes here to check on things so be on your best behaviour. Apart from that, there's not much I need to teach you." She said while handing me a stack of papers. This is it! I have to do good on my first job. This will surely help keep me off the street. How long I've waited for an opportunity like this.
"Thank you so much! What was your name again?" I asked. She looked at me and a smile formed on her lips.
"Just call me Yukina." She said. The ringing in my ear started again and it was starting to get annoying. I don't understand what's happening to me today. Everytime someone mentions a name, I get that familiar feeling in my gut and it makes me dizzy. I tried to hide the pain and I gave Yukina a smile.
"I hope it's alright if I ask questions if there's something I don't understand." I said. She sat back down on her desk which was right in front of mine. She looked at her computer monitor with a smile on her face.
"Sure thing, sweetie. If there's anything I can help you with, don't be afraid to ask." She said, not taking her eyes off the computer monitor. I sat on my desk and flipped through the papers that Yukina gave me. I studied the boss' schedule religiously. I don't want to lose my job and I have to do a good job with this.
Just then, the elevator doors opened and out came a young man in a suit. He was around a year or two older than me and his face was so familiar. He had what seemed to be purple hair. Is this a new trend that I haven't heard of? It seems like everyone I've been meeting today has weird colored hair.
I didn't realize that I was staring at him. He stood in front of me and cleared his throat. I snapped out of my trance and realized that the CEO of the company I work for is standing right in front of me. I quickly bowed my head and uttered a short introduction.
"Good morning sir! I am Sayori and I will be your a.s.sistant starting today." I said. That name again… I was too afraid to correct my mistake but if I don't, he's going to start and calling me by that name. I slowly lifted my head and when I looked up, I saw the CEO looking directly at me. He had a smile on his face which made him more charming. He was already charming when he walked in here but the smile on his face made it ten times better.
"Sayori? You have a beautiful name." He said. I couldn't help but blush at his comment. I smiled at him and when our eyes met, I felt as if I knew this man for a long time. I couldn't understand the feeling I had deep inside me.
"My name is Yukio. You can just refer to me by my first name. You don't need to be formal with me. Are you comfortable with that, Sayori?" He asked. His name was familiar. I knew I've heard it from somewhere before but I just can't remember where. Yukio? Yukio? Yukio? Who is Yukio? Why is my mind running at the thought of his name. I don't understand what I'm feeling and I don't understand why my mind is racing right now. I can't remember anything. Everything started to become too much for me.
The ringing in my ear started to get louder until it was the only thing I could hear. My breathing started to become irregular and I felt like my world was coming down on me. I couldn't understand anything.
"Sayori…?" I heard a voice; a voice so familiar that it made my heart beat fast. A voice so familiar that it made my head hurt.
"Sayori!" His voice got louder, like he was concerned for me. Please stop calling that name. That's not me. I'm not Sayori. The headaches started to get worse and I feel like my legs couldn't hold me up. I tried to be strong but my legs gave up on me and I was in the arms of our CEO.
"Sayori! Don't let go!" I heard him say. Let go? I didn't understand his words but at the same time, I felt a pain in my chest. I don't understand what he's saying but why do I feel like crying.
My head felt heavy and I couldn't even keep my eyes open. All I can see was Yukio's eyes. But they were different from how I saw them a few minutes ago. They were looking at me, with tears ready to fall. He was looking down at me, like he was holding me up from falling. I suddenly felt nothing beneath my feet. Fear crept into me and I realized what was happening. I was hanging by the end of the ravine with only Yukio holding me up, keeping me from falling.
"Let me go." I said. No, don't let me go! Why did I say that? What's happening? Where am I? I don't understand anything that's happening. I was slipping under Yukio's grip. There was blood on my arm and it was making it harder for him to hold on. Without thinking, I pulled my arm away from his grip and I let myself fall. The weightlessness, the feeling of falling scared me. I didn't know what awaited me at the bottom of this ravine.
As I heard the running water behind me, I felt the splash of cold water on my back and it jerked me awake. I opened my eyes and saw that I was in an unfamiliar room. Every bit of memory I had came back to me.
"Yukio…" Was the first thing that came out of my mouth. I remember falling off of the ravine. I don't know what happened to Yukio after I fell. Is he alright? Questions kept popping into my head and concern grew inside my chest. I tried to stand up but the moment I tried to move my hand, I felt pain all over. That's right. I was injured when I fell. I looked around and I noticed that this was unfamiliar territory.
It's a miracle that I even survived that fall let alone the wounds on my arm and shoulder. This must be what it meant to be loved by the G.o.ds.
