He was simply being considerate of her when he sacrificed his image and face-changed into a girl!
Son of a b*tch! He felt so wronged that he grumbled, "... It's not like I did anything 'funny'. What's so fun in making myself turn into a girl. Which one hundred percent man inside and outside would want to do that if there is any other alternative?"
Shortly after the mumbling he did between gritted teeth, something hard hit the back of his head. When he turned around, he saw that it was the girl's blue leather sling bag, held up again above his head, ready for a second smacking.
Wendy snorted when he dodged her second attack. The woman had tied up her long flowing hair and wore a brown leather jacket over her fitting s.h.i.+rt. "I'll be out for a few hours. Remember your task. For freeloading for so many days, it's your task to clean up everything here. If you do a satisfactory job, I'll reconsider not letting you enter the jail for s.e.xual hara.s.sment. And like always, don't do anything funny! Don't damage anything too! Or better yet, don't enter the bedroom! Otherwise, I'll sue you too for trespa.s.sing and voyeurism!"
The man's lips twitched. The woman wanted him to at least repay the electricity, bandages, water, and food he consumed in his five days of stay here before he left.
But where did the s.e.xual hara.s.sment come? He, a glorious host, would have to resort to voyeurism, becoming a frickin' peeping tom? The f*ck! Even if she was beautiful and could be a nice material for relieving himself... h.e.l.lo? His current situation wouldn't allow him to even fantasize. This unreasonable girl!
As though she read his mind, Wendy gave him a stern glare before getting out of the dorm. Also, when she got into the road, she stared back to him through the open windows, her eyes especially piercing like the sharp edge of a dagger under the scant light of the lamp post.
"... Just wow. How the f*ck did I end up in this stupid situation again?"
Ver ignored its useless and unwarranted opinion then took the seat in front of her laptop. He thought to himself that in fairness, for a girl who kept threatening him of unreasonable charges, she actually trusted him too much of her stuff here. What if he really turned out a thief and stole the adequately pricey items in this boarding room?
It didn't take long for him to know the answer to his question. Wendy must have thought he was the wealthy type of guy since his watch she put at one corner of her table obviously looked expensive, seemingly costing more than her phone and laptop combined.
Ver had almost hit the bullseye. Wendy did know the luxury item was very pricey. However, she a.s.sumed that the one rich was not him, but the sugar daddy or daddies funding his skincare, face, clothes, and house.
Such malicious thoughts born out of jealousy. Thankfully, the immoral host was not aware.
Ver returned to collecting information, tossing the supposed task to the back of his mind. Anyway, even if he did nothing, he could just reason that he collapsed due to his aching stomach wound or that according to the oldies, sweeping at night was very ominous. He didn't believe that the girl really had the heart to chase the injured him.
'She's only angry because I deceived her about my muteness. There is that unknown host. But for so many days, I haven't seen that person. Maybe this girl is not really a non-host supporter but someone merely with enough relation to another host to have her information blocked, but is not close enough to have her under his or her watch.'
'Poor girl. She must not be aware that she's in the eye of a storm. What if the first host who encountered her is a lunatic more than me?'
The man shook his head while typing on the keyboard.
Oh well, maybe this Wendy had some sort of protective charm with her left by that other host.
'Hmm?'
Time pa.s.sed.
One instance, as he went through the number of surveillance cameras all over the city, he caught sight of some suspicious figures flickering here and there. They wore varying styles of clothes. But if there was something they had in common, it would be the half-mask they had on their faces.
'Oh? They're nearby.'
Ferocity overtook his whole body. His aura and look turned so ferocious that the smell of blood seemingly drifted all over the place, thick and heavy, it turned the air stagnant to the point that it would be hard for anyone with lesser will and encounter with death to inhale and breath.
"I would have avoided confrontation with them if it was at least two days ago."
A smirk adorned his impossibly handsome face. "But now. I'm in dire need of points. And they come at such a very opportune time!"
And so the man who should be cleaning up using his uninjured hand took out a black long coat from his inventory and headed out of the dorm for the very first time.
...
It was around 10 pm in the evening.
Wendy crossed her arms underneath her ample but not really gifted bossom. In front of her, two other girls were trying to lead a bunch of scaredy cats into an abandoned building. All of them were living in the same dorm, just from different rooms. One of them was that girl who told her about that Pretty Boy Ver.
Due to the very spine chilling atmosphere enveloping the area, everyone else apart from Wendy was hugging each other's arms or themselves.
The girl whose hair was in a wavy ponytail shook her head while confidently walking after her two friends Yuki and Anda.
"Girls, better not separate. Even though it's not exactly midnight or witching hours, it is still quite scary and spooky. Ghosts might show up out of a sudden to surprise us. Who knows when one of us will just suddenly be possessed!"
To her friend Anda's words and the exaggerated reactions of the four others, the sister of a police officer shook her head again in helplessness. Her eyes looked through every dark opening of the place, like an open window upstairs or a cl.u.s.ter of black shadows in the first floor of the dormitory building.
Rather than worrying about the famous white lady and grandmother ghost of this part of the world, she was more concerned if this place had already become a hideout for criminals or gangs. It just seemed to be a perfect place for that. Look, what better hiding place could there be apart from what the common populace avoided due to a so called supernatural phenomenon?
She sighed.
Maybe the girl ghost they said sighted within was actually just a silhouette of a female lunatic or rule breaker camping inside.
To see is really to believe. Only because she wanted to investigate about the urban legend of this place that she agreed to tag along with this group of scaredy cats who, out of whim, had decided to play a game of courage.
"I hope we don't run into criminals or outlaws here. But just in case people, don't forget to make the police's number as one of your speed dials."
Wendy's breaking of the eerie mood helped calm the five other girls with her. They gave her a wry smile, thinking she was such an admirable killjoy. However, they still did as she suggested.
Being extra prepared would not hurt anyway.
