He read some information about the Combat Tower and the fact that it taught the Ares Tactics from the very basics through the tower was very appealing to Tristan.

Ares Tactics was the most powerful and flags.h.i.+p combat art of the War Conference. It was invented by an ancient predecessor of the guild and he was the one who built the tower as a legacy to train future generations in the art.

Tristan contacted War Conference through the Vast Expanse, wis.h.i.+ng to use the Combat Tower as soon as possible. War Conference did not delay either and two days later was set as a time for Tristan to enter the combat tower.

Two days later, Tristan had arrived at a tower that was erected in the sea. He had to take a boat to come here from Coastal City. The tower was hidden from the ordinary world using illusion formations and the area was labelled as a no fly zone.

At the tower, Tristan, dressed as White Star, saw several guards guarding the entrance to the tower. The tower began at sea level and then kept going downwards until one reached the bottom of the sea bed.

Tristan nodded towards the War Conference guards, before showing the token that was given to him by the War Conference and then entering the Tower.

When he entered the tower, it felt like he had entered another world entirely. There was no light only infinite darkness. Then in front of Tristan a replica of his own appeared. The replica did not pay attention to Tristan and simply punched in a peculiar manner.

The punch had a slight twist in its movement and it felt like it used every muscle in the hand to execute the punch. The replica continued to punch again.

Now his surroundings changed into an arena. An opponent appeared, it was a replica of himself. The two fought, but the replica made quick work of Tristan. He had learned the moves but not the tactics. However the battle began again. He was defeated again. Yet with each battle Tristan kept lasting longer and longer until finally he defeated his opponent. When he succeeded a beam of white light entered his head and he had an enlightenment regarding the tactics used in this battle.

At the same time, Tristan noticed that his counter in the Physical evolution quest had increased by one. Then Tristan was taken to the next level.

He had to fight himself again. The moves were also the same. But the tactics to use the moves had changed again and Tristan lost quickly. The cycle continued on and on until Tristan beat his opponent. Then he received an enlightenment regarding the second tactic.

Tristan kept on losing hundreds of times before finally winning and defeating his opponent for all of the 20 different tactics. At this point he was really mentally exhausted.
