She opened the door to their room gently. He was there with his eyes closed. She could tell he wasn't asleep. He probably didn't dare to look at her since she had told him not to.
She made her way to the bed and hugged him from behind. With her bulging belly, she couldn't close in properly, but she still managed to rest her head on his back with her arms circling his waist.
"I was a jerk honey," she said softly.
"You're the most amazing man on earth, and you make me so happy everyday. I was a total ingrate for making you feel bad, for breaking your heart, and for making you take the blame."
"I won't blame it on our baby either. I'm just a bad mother who couldn't rein in her emotions. I'm so sorry baby." Her tears soaked through his pajamas top.
"If I could take back my words and remove them from your mind, I'd do it. I didn't mean to hurt you Quincy. I'm so sorry."
When she wrapped her arms around him, he felt peaceful. He was glad she was okay. The wetness on his back pulled on his heart making him feel horrible.
This pregnancy was tough on both of them. He wanted her to vent fully before turning to face her. He could never bear to make her sad yet she was crying buckets everyday.
After her sobs died down, he stood up from the bed. Already knowing what he wanted to do, Seraphina moved closer to where Quincy had lied while Quincy walked around the bed to hug her from behind.
Feeling the familiar warmth, she calmed down.
"We are going to get through this, baby," he said slowly.
