Despite his professionalism being doubted, Liu Qiming did not get angry. He calmly said, “I’m sure. I’ve used both waking hypnosis and trance hypnosis on her. She accepted my suggestions but the effects were not strong. She has a strong mental resilience and she is not easily affected by hypnotism.”
Regarding hypnotherapy, Jin Xiangdong had zero knowledge of it until the night before when he read up information on it. The brewing tea technique that Liu Qiming used in his office was his method of waking hypnosis.
For waking hypnosis, the hypnotist does not have to bypa.s.s the patient’s subconscious defense mechanism for the patient to accept his suggestion. But when the hypnotist comes in contact with the psychological defense mechanism of the patient, the natural prevention mechanism will be activated immediately. For trance hypnosis, the hypnotist uses his voice to guide the patient into a trance state and implants concepts into the patient’s subconscious which can change the habits of the patient and achieve the goal of solving the patient’s psychological problems.
All kinds of hypnosis required preparations. The reason why Lu Jia’er was able to be hypnotized so successfully was that Jin Xiangdong added something into the bottle of water she had on the way there. Also, n.o.body would have expected that Liu Qiming would use tea brewing techniques to hypnotize his clients.
In fact, the kind of hypnosis that was used on Lu Jia’er was not common. Special circ.u.mstances required special treatments. The only thing Liu Qimingcould do in that situation was to test whether she was a person who could be hypnotized easily, and that was it.
Jin Xiangdong had somewhat witnessed how hypnotherapy worked. Liu Qiming’s methods of hypnotherapy were very unique and unexpected.
Hearing the answer, Jin Xiangdong was absorbed in his thoughts and replied, “It’s great that she’s not.”
Liu Qiming looked at him and said, “I’m sorry, I can only do so much.”
Jin Xiangdong quickly said, “Thank you, that’s enough.”
If it was not for Professor Fang Yu’s direct referral, he wouldn’t have been able to book an appointment with Liu Qiming by himself.
Liu Qiming smiled and said, “It was requested by Teacher Fang. As her disciple, I have to make her proud.”
Jin Xiangdong felt that he should go and thank Professor Fang Yu once again, but at that moment, he was more concerned about Lu Jia’er’s condition. “Is she awake?”
“I’ll go in and wake her up,” said Liu Qiming.
Jin Xiangdong nodded his head quietly and said, “Okay.”
Lu Jia’er eyes were shut and she was leaning onto the sofa. Liu Qiming stepped back into his office and said, “Professor Lu, hear my words, I will count to three and you shall wake up. One. Two. Three!”
Hearing Liu Qiming’s commands, Lu Jia’er slowly opened her eyes. What she first saw was the pale green wallpaper behind Liu Qiming.
“Professor Lu, have some water.” Liu Qiming gently said.
Lu Jia’er stared at him and said, “Did you just hypnotize me?”
Liu Qiming did not deny it and said, “Yes.”
“Who allowed you to do that?” The expression that Lu Jia’er had was considered calm.
“It was Mr. Jin Xiangdong. He’s standing outside.” Liu Qiming honestly replied.
Hearing that, anger could be seen in Lu Jia’er’s expression. “Teacher Liu, you have been in this profession for quite a while. Professionally speaking, you should never hypnotize someone without his or her permission. If others were to know about this, what do you think will happen?”
Liu Qiming was surprised. He asked, “You didn’t agree to it?”
“When did I agree to it?” Lu Jia’er retorted, looking Liu Qiming in the eyes.
Liu Qiming was somewhat puzzled. “But I received a hypnotherapy consent letter that was signed by you.”
This time, Lu Jia’er was the confused one. “What?”
Soon after, she understood what had happened. The doc.u.ment that Jin Xiangdong tricked her into signing was a hypnotherapy consent letter.
He’s seriously crazy!
Lu Jia’er was fuming inside. He looked at Liu Qiming and asked, “What was his motive for asking you to hypnotize me?”
Liu Qiming did not know what to say. She was a client introduced by his teacher, so he agreed to it immediately after understanding the issue. He did not expect that Lu Jia’er and Jin Xiangdong had not discussed it beforehand.
In order to calm Lu Jia’er’s anger, Liu Qiming could only tell her everything that he did. “Mr Jin Xiangdong wanted to find out if you were hypnotized.”
Hearing what he said, Lu Jia’er snickered, “I was hypnotized?”
“This was the information that he had provided for me. What I did just now was to test if you were a person who can be easily hypnotized.” Liu Qiming truthfully said what he did.
“What’s the result?” Lu Jia’er held the anger in and patiently asked for the result.
“You have not been hypnotized. You have strong mental resilience and you are not one who can be hypnotized easily,” said Liu Qiming.
“Teacher Liu, thank you for telling me these truthfully. I won’t press this matter against you but your professional ethics ought to be improved!” Lu Jia’er stood up after finis.h.i.+ng her sentence.
Liu Qiming quickly got up and apologized to Lu Jia’er. “Professor Lu, I really didn’t know that you didn’t agree to be hypnotized!”
Lu Jia’er could not be bothered with him and left the room.
Jin Xiangdong was waiting at the door. He was mentally prepared as Lu Jia’er angrily stomped out.
Lu Jia’er did not rage on the spot but he could hear the anger in her tone. “Jin Xiangdong, let’s get out of here and settle this!” After saying that, she continued to walk out of the office.
Jin Xiangdong looked at her, then turned to Liu Qiming and said, “Teacher Liu, I will personally visit you again to apologize.”
Liu Qiming was speechless. He had been taken advantage of. If Lu Jia’er were to press against the matter, his name would have become infamous.
But even so, he could not say much. Professor Fang Yu was not the type to ask for a favor and who knew what kind of relations.h.i.+p that person and his teacher had.
Regarding this matter, Jin Xiangdong felt quite bad about it. He had always been a righteous person and had never used such an underhanded method. This was an exceptional circ.u.mstance as he was honestly very worried about Lu Jia’er.
The feelings he and Lu Jia’er had were not that deep, but she was the first person that he had ever liked. It might seem that she was the first to make the move but it did not mean that he had no feelings for her when he first saw her.
Her presence had taught him what it was like to be in love, what it was like to care for someone and what it was like to be afraid that she would get hurt.
“I’m sorry.” Jin Xiangdong apologized again and left to chase after her.
As Jin Xiangdong reached the elevator, he could hear Lu Jia’er making a phone call. “h.e.l.lo, I would like to make a police report!”
Hearing that, Jin Xiangdong hurried over and s.n.a.t.c.hed her phone. “I apologize, my girlfriend dialed the wrong number,” After finis.h.i.+ng his sentence, he hung the call.
Having her phone s.n.a.t.c.hed, Lu Jia’er was fuming mad. “Jin Xiangdong!”
“Let’s talk downstairs.” Jin Xiangdong grabbed Lu Jia’er’s hand and went into the elevator.
Once they entered the elevator, Lu Jia’er shook off his hand and said, “I’m warning you, don’t touch me!”
As opposed to her anger, Jin Xiangdong was calm. “I know that you are very angry, but the reason why I did it was that I wanted to find out what had happened to you. Why would you, for no reason, forget about me and treat our first meeting as a story of you and someone else?”
“I have already told you, before we went to the hospital, that I do not know you at all! I am not your girlfriend. If you continue to bother me like that, I will not be kind to you!” Lu Jia’er had a scary expression as she warned him coldly.
Seeing Lu Jia’er treating him so foreign, Jin Xiangdong asked, “You will call the cops?”
“That’s right, I will call the cops!” said Lu Jia’er as she glared at him.
Jin Xiangdong’s heart wrenched, yet, he said, “Er Er, did you know? You look beautiful when you glare at me.”
It felt like she gave a hard punch, but did not expect to be hitting a soft cotton.
Lu Jia’er could no longer treat him as a normal person. She wryly said, “It seems that you should really go and visit a psychiatrist!”
Yet, Jin Xiangdong’s reply was, “Aren’t you a psychiatrist specialist? I want you to treat me.”
Lu Jia’er wanted to curse out loud but she held it in and coldly said, “Return my phone now!”
Jin Xiangdong looked at the phone in his hands, then straight into the eyes of Lu Jia’er and said, “Er’er, you may have forgotten me, but I will definitely make you fall in love with me again!” Finis.h.i.+ng his sentence, he returned the phone to her.
Prior to that, the two had always interacted intimately, but Jin Xiangdong had never taken the initiative to say anything romantic to Lu Jia’er. He finally spilled his heartfelt thoughts today.
However, Lu Jia’er was unmoved. After glancing at her phone, she set her sight on Jin Xiangdong’s face and said, “Ridiculous!”
Finis.h.i.+ng her sentence, she took her phone back. The elevator door opened and Lu Jia’er stepped out of it without hesitation.
But just as she stepped out of it, she halted. In front of the elevator stood a familiar person. It was her boyfriend, Ian.
