Ryuu was about to leave when he spotted us hurrying down the main foyer staircase.

"Seriously, gentlemen! Chop! Chop!" Ryuu wagged his finger motherly at us.

He was looking a lot bolder today in his navy blue suit with a pink striped tie against his white s.h.i.+rt and matching coloured socks that showed beneath his neatly pressed slacks when he moved his legs.

"You must reach cla.s.s within thirty minutes, before the second bell rings." He pouted as he grabbed his grey scarf and overcoat from the coat rack near the cloak alcove.

He pulled out a sheet of paper from his leather briefcase and handed it to me. I saw my morning cla.s.ses were with Trix in another room on the fifth level of a building called the Tower.

"Death and War have normal cla.s.ses. Make sure you men arrive on time." Not caring for our questions, he stormed out of the front entrance.

I pocketed my scheduled and approached the cloak alcove, finding my coat hanging up next to War's on a wall hook. We grabbed our coats and belts.

"Freend!" Small Cap bellowed with glee as he dropped to my shoulder with his surprise attack.

"Yeek!" I squealed, feeling my heart racing.

"Morning Small Cap." Death warmly greeted the spider.

"Wait. What are you doing?" I asked my spider friend when crawled into my belt pouch.

"I come to school too?" Small Cap asked with pleading eyes.

"Are you sure? It's boring. I thought you liked playing in the garden."

Small Cap hesitated with a response and let out a s.h.i.+ver.

"What's wrong?" War gently prompted the spider for more.

Small Cap crawled into my belt pouch and answered with going to sleep. His version of a brush off.

"Okay."

We shrugged our shoulders and left the mansion for Academy Lane.

It was a lot colder than the day before. I hoped that this time we could walk down the lane without any interruptions.

The coast was almost clear until we neared the gates a few meters a head and saw a welcoming committee waiting for us. It was that glamorous pretty girl and senior boys who had tried to ambush me at the Utility Closet the other day. Were they stupid? If people saw us fight here, we'd all be in trouble.

The boys hung back at the gates, watching the girl who boldly strutted up to me and held out a letter. I must admit her neatly painted pink manicured nails on tapered fingers was a pretty sight.

"Don't be late," she said in a sweet voice that sent icy s.h.i.+vers down my spine.

"h.e.l.lo, Beautiful." War drew her attention to him with a charming smile that seemed to have unbalanced her demeanour as she let him remove the letter from her hands whilst staring transfixed on his smile.

"Good morning, Princess." Death greeted her with a polite and manly smile that made her head turn, blue eyes go wide with delight and b.r.e.a.s.t.s heave with laboured breath.

She took a shaky step back.

"Whatever." She managed to look away and turned on her heels with a flick of her black ponytail, storming back to the waiting boys.

"Beautiful women always smell nice." War grinned dreamingly. "Wouldn't mind gettin meh hands on that rack."

"Ugh. Crude. Like that girl would want an unrefined cradle robber like you." I hastily signed and s.n.a.t.c.hed the letter out of his hand.

"Cradle robber? She ain't be a year younger than meh."

The scent of strawberries and cream wafted up our noses as I opened the envelop.

"Ooh the scent of a woman." Death smiled sweetly with deep blushes to his cheeks.

"Too bad Famisto. Since yah already claimed." War patted my back. "Leaves the girl candy for Death and meh."

Like I would be interested. She was definitely no comparison to my Colonel.

I carefully pulled out the perfume scented paper within, which was a sweet challenge letter that called me to the forest section beyond something called a football field at lunch time. War explained that it was the field with the H-posts.

I smugly waved the letter before my brothers, clearly showing the sight of only my name on at the top. "Looks like I'll meet this girl's challenge on my own."

"You need our help! Those men will rough you up. Being deaf can leave you at a disadvantage." Death eagerly volunteered with War adding on his support.

Mean! My brothers were way too keen for a girl they had just met and one that wanted to harm me to boot. How'd we sure she'd even be there? For all we know, she was just delivering the message. Well whatever. They probably were right about arriving with numbers.

"Fine. Do what you like." I signed and pocketed the letter.

"Disadvantaged my a.s.s. Being deaf makes me a meaner challenger. Death, you should know this better than anyone." I pouted and power walked a head of them.

Our walks turned to sprints when the first bell rang.
