Death sighed as he fiddled with my back and showed me a note with magic words that said, 'kick the mule' and reforming into an image of a painted female donkey wiggling its big b.u.t.t and swis.h.i.+ng its tail.
Didn't Ryuu say that bullying was expulsion out of the academy? I glanced around the ma.s.ses that pa.s.sed us. Obviously, it was going to be a needle in a haystack to find the culprit. Especially when the note was a blank sheet and crumpled itself into a ball. b.l.o.o.d.y great.
All I could do was walk on and follow my cla.s.s back to our room. Fortunately, nothing else happened, and we reached our cla.s.sroom in peace.
The rest of the afternoon was theory and lots of writing with a pencil in an exercise book. A few times I had almost nodded off to Ryuu's lectures and was saved by Alina or Jace.
Most of the students carried the same drained looking expressions on their faces when we finally could call it a day.
"So, what now?" I signed to my brothers and received shrugs.
"Are you Famine?" A pretty girl came up to me with her hands elegantly asking to confirm my name.
She smelt nice and sweet with a pretty shade of pink lipstick discreetly smeared on her heart-shaped lips. Her big blue eyes and long lashes was made more obvious with brown kohl powder carefully applied to her lids. Her fine black hair was sleek and long, held up in a simple ponytail that made her appear mature. She was also very tastefully styled in her uniform and slender.
I stupidly nodded. She sighed with relief, like a damsel who had finally found her knight.
"Great. Could you please come with me? My teacher is asking for you."
I shrugged and began following her lead, unsuspectingly. She led me down the stairs to the ground floor and the gun metal door. Was her teacher the janitor?
"Are you sure your teacher's here?" I signed.
She flashed me a c.o.c.ky grin that was a far cry from her damsel in distressed expression, and almost reminded me of that Bryan Adams chick.
"Stupid ugly mule. No one is prettier than me." Her mouth moved.
I felt a strong presence to my back and turned to see the senior boys that had been gossiping about my brothers and I at lunch. It was the first time I saw how tall, butch and mean looking they were.
"Can I help you?" I spoke aloud, hoping the words came out sensibly.
I stumbled by the hard knock the girl gave my back as she pushed past me to stand with the boys.
"Oops." She mouthed, obviously not sorry.
"Um, you do know that bullying is a crime?" I bravely signed and flicked a rude finger for a warning, then pretended to pick at my nose and flick them a booger.

This got their tempers rising.
I stood still and focused on their movements as they rushed for me. Something made them stop their advances and turn around. I peaked over their shoulders and saw my brothers with Wilfred behind them.
Obviously, Wilfred's knight rank made them think about pressing their attacks.
Spoil sports. I had this.
They left the fight before it began, but the dirty looks they gave me said it was a tactical retreat.
"Let's get back to headquarters," Wilfred signed and patted my back.
I grinned and hopped up the stairs like a happy kid.
