He released the binds on Death and War, causing them to slump to the floor in a heap.
"You did this to trick my brother." Death spat on the floor. "Despicable. Shameless leader."
"It's okay Death. War, guys, please leave the stage, I beg you." I pleaded to my brothers.
I sighed with relieve when Lita and Saku hurried to the stage to help Death and War back to their seats near Jensen and Wilfred.
I stood alone, feeling vulnerable underneath the mult.i.tude of eyes from the audience of knights.
There was no other choice. Since that Grandpa Smithsonian had shadily placed us in this situation, there was no telling how far he was prepared to go to poke at our brains until they were nothing more than mush. My brain could be sacrifice. I doubt he realized that Death and War carried Sol's entire world history and magical knowledge in their brains.
It also made me realize the level of trust the order held in esteem for my brothers and I. Of course, it was wishful thinking they'd readily accept us without validation. Death was right, we had to be cautious from now on. My mind touched on his conversation in the baths. It pained me to think that he was scratching the surface of a fact.
"I can't let him do this on his own." Leinard stepped up to the stage, ignoring Trix's protest and Deacon's sigh.
"Colonel. Stepped down." I firmly and quietly addressed Leinard.
Leinard ignored my words and went to grab my hand. I slapped it away, which stirred a gasp from a few people in the crowd.
"Please Colonel. I can do this on my own. I have the gist of this now." I soberly met his eyes, ignoring his expression of earnest and pain from them.
My heart could sense that this situation wasn't what he wanted or was expecting, but he was this order's colonel. It was detrimental he remained unharmed for the sake of my brothers and myself.
"If that is your wish Famine." Leinard sighed. "I'm sorry. I..."
His words trailed to silence. He turned and returned to his place on the bench.
I stood tall, taking in the attention from all eyes that were watching me intensely.
"Grandpa Smithsonian. Do your thing." I cheekily gave the old timer the go.
