"Seriously?" I cringed, not wanting to step foot in that demonic closet.
"Maidens." Ryoko groaned. "Look. It's not an elevator, okay?"
That didn't alleviate my reluctance. Nevertheless, I followed her and Saku through the metal grilled doors of the elevator.
My breath got stuck in my throat, momentarily, when the room faded out and into a new vista.
I saw myself standing on the edge of circular amphitheatre with grey marble benches stepping down to the round stage at the center.
"Woah!" My eyes widened at the wonder of nature swimming around me.
I felt like I was in a fishbowl with the scene of night and day fast forwarding outside of gla.s.s walls that surrounded me: trees growing and dying, animals coming and going, being born, dying and vying for a sometimes clear, bright and stormy sky. It was obvious time was not a fixed pattern to the place I had stepped into.
"Welcome to the Stasis Theatre." Saku dramatically introduced the place as we stepped further in.
The swimming vista made my stomach queasier than the elevator and D-Train trips.
"Come on! You can't be that sensitive in the stomach." Ryoko groaned when she saw my arms wrapped around my stomach to hold it in.
"Shuddup." I grumbled back at her.
"This might help."
My heart pounded at the sight of Leinard walking towards me.
He had cleaned up in a new colonel uniform, so his double-breasted navy jacket was b.u.t.toned up to show off his lean torso. He wore a new stiff peak cap with the colonel insignia at the center. The silver leaf insignia to his shoulders sparkled underneath the mild daylight. His black double belt supported a new longsword in its attached sheath. His lean and st.u.r.dy legs appeared longer in his freshly pressed navy-blue slacks tucked into calf-length black lace up boots.
I swooned at the delicious scent of vanillcitrus oozing off his body. He smelt nice.

His large white gloved hands cupped my ears, making my skin tickle from the cool friction I felt from the fabric. His smooth, deep voice resonated a spell that eased my nausea and gave my mind clarity.
"Feel better?"
I glanced into his cool, grey eyes that glimmered with a cordial smile. His aesthetically appealing clean-shaven face made my heart beats go for a stupid sprint.
"Uh huh." I mumbled.
My gaze followed his fit body down the stairway, between benches, and to the center stage.
Fit body? What the h.e.l.l was I thinking?!
"Famine, pull your eyes back into your head, please?" Death scolded me, his blue eyes glaring.
"I wasn't ogling." I answered back in my defence.
War chuckled. "Yah were undressing him with yah eyes."
"I was not! Stop making up s.h.i.+t, War!" I shouted.
"When the three of you are ready?" Deacon called out to us from the center stage with a gesture to the lower benches.
I looked around and realized that War, Death and myself were still standing at the top-level of the theatre near the entrance. We looked down to the audience of Evadale Knights who filled up the four benches beneath us. Standing in the middle of the glistening moonstone stage was Leinard and Deacon.
The three of us gave each other pensive glances and shrugs as we stepped down and a.s.sumed our seats in the front row that was slightly aside from most of the seated knights.
Saku and Ryoko took up spots next to us on War's right. Death was in between myself and War. When I turned my head, I groaned at the sight of Colin taking up the spot next to me.
_"How is my Precious?"_ He greeted me with c.o.c.ky hand signage.
_"Idiot."_ I returned his greeting with a hand gesture of swooping scissor fingers at my chest.
He smirked, which made his green eyes sparkle like a sea reflecting sunlight behind his stylish thin-framed gla.s.ses.
I gave his image a once over, noticing that he had completely cleaned up with a fresh uniform of the cla.s.sic patchwork overcoat, lace up black boots, navy-blue slacks and waistcoat supporting a white cotton s.h.i.+rt. The top of his Light Grimoire fob watch peaked out of his left waistcoat pocket with the silver Albert Chain dangling down from his middle b.u.t.tonhole to the watch. His sleek black hair was smoothed back to reveal his mild-mannered and stolid countenance.
_"Nice spell book."_ He signed, noticing my Albert Chain and book charm.
Death sighed. "Colin Treinaton."
Colin grinned at the sight of Death. _"Nice to see you again Big Brother."_
Death groaned and signed back with words that told him to stop talking and pay attention to the meeting that was about to begin.
