"Come here, I need to tell you your mission."
Kenjiro slowly made his way to the man and looked over to Kaita in confusion, who said
"What are you doing? I need to be present, you know, like --"
The Lazy King, as he was called, just looked over with the same emotionless face and, for the first time since he arrived, brought up his hand. With a large scar shaped similarly to a thunderbolt, he did the motion of shooting away something unwanted on your thumb with your middle finger and they quickly disappeared.
"...a lawyer during a police interview..."
But her ramblings went unheard as the duo had already disappeared following his motion.
…
His surroundings were painted in bright and attention-grabbing red, which proved to be a visual annoyance after a couple of seconds of being all around it. But Kenjiro kept his mouth shut and accepted the situation, he instead focused his attention to something more important. He asked
"Umm, not to be rude, since you kind of saved me, but what do you want?"
The Lazy King took a couple of steps forward and turned around, saying
"We have a mission for you, which entails defeating someone."
Kenjiro nodded carefully, as the thoughts of his incompetence sheltered his will to fight anybody. This seemed very official-like, so he was reluctant to the thought of defeating someone. The Lazy King continued, as if he'd been able to tell what Kenjiro was thinking
"The reason we chose you to do it was very particular, you are a "Special Individual" after all. Your mission is to defeat the Pride Group, a company you have come in contact with before."
Kenjiro had no idea what he was talking about as he tried to remember, but remember could he not. He felt a huge amount of pressure to remember as he tried his hardest. The stature, way of speaking, stiffness, and aura spoke to a fear Kenjiro didn't know he had. Despite looking very calm and easy-going, The Lazy King seemed to have something else going on behind it all.
The Lazy King opened his mouth and said
"You don't know who they are, huh."
Kenjiro reacted with a surprised face as he looked up to The Lazy King, who responded with
"That's fine, I guess. You will know who they are sooner or later."
A question popped up in Kenjiro's mind, but he was reluctant to ask it. The usually frank Kenjiro was having second thoughts about asking a question, but his curiosity bested him and he asked
"Who are 'we'? And you seem fairly omnipotent, wouldn't you be able to beat them?"
The aura changed as soon as his words ended. The earlier calm, but menacing aura, subsided quickly and was replaced with an upset and anger-filled aura.
The Lazy King shot a threatening glare at Kenjiro, and he felt as if the gravity around him suddenly tightened up and pulled him downwards. Managing to hold his position, the pressure shocked him as I looked at the man in front of him. The Lazy King said
"None of your business, and are you suggesting that I do something about it? You don't seem like you understand how this works, but you also seem new to this so I'll just pose you this question:
Do you really think immense power comes free?
Now go and do what you're supposed to do."
Before Kenjiro had the opportunity to say or do anything, The Lazy King quickly raised his hand and did the same motion again.
As soon as Kenjiro had the chance to look up again, he was now seated on the blank white floor again, with a large cla.s.sroom set in front of him and a worried system by it. He had a perplexed look on him, and he was unsure of what to think. He did, though, blame himself for his insolence as soon as he was returned to that white room.
Looking at his shaking hands, Kenjiro was reminded of the overbearing pressure from The Lazy King and drew a blank in his mind.
Kaita quickly rushed over to the clearly shaken Kenjiro and asked
"Hey, are you okay? Did he do anything?"
Without really thinking about it, Kenjiro answered
"No… I'm fine."
Kenjiro had lied for the first time in a long time.
- "Do you really think immense power comes free?", huh.
I have to hurry and get rid of this power.
But wouldn't that just push this misfortune to someone else…?
I... -

~Friday, a day earlier, 9:01 AM~
*RING RING RING*
"I wonder if they'll pick up..."
He sat in his usual grand chair, peeking out of the large gla.s.s panel in front of him. He took a sip out of the rather small cup of coffee he'd ordered just 15 minutes before. But despite his mighty and proud position, staring out over the city, he clenched onto the phone like a young child. His mind was racing and nervousness took its place in his heart. The door behind him was close, he would've never let it be open in a hundred years considering what he was doing.
*DOKA*
Someone picked up.
It was the voice of a very recognizable person, to him at least.
A very short conversation opened up, and a few sentences escaped the small compartment between the phone and this man's slightly aged ear.
"...Way we do.", "...Never asked for tha...", "...Should've just done wha...".
*DOKA*
It had gone exactly the way he envisioned, so the result wasn't all too heartbreaking for him. Although it did sting a little, that pain got alleviated as he thought forward. The sense of optimism stemmed from his next move, which would hopefully raise his status to a whole new level. A level that would finally earn him the recognition he desired.
He continued to drink his coffee, which had gotten lukewarm from its previous hotness. It was a temperature he considered boring, as it didn't stand out in any way. It didn't have the boldness and explosiveness that hot had, nor did it have the quality of being easy to notice and the distance that cold had. It was in all senses dull, and it went through Kurohito's mind as he finished the drink. Just as he started reflecting on the previous night, when he'd gone out and done karaoke, and how fun it'd been, and also that he didn't necessarily feel worried for his subordinates being taken away, reasoning that they were strong and probably fine, knocking was heard. It alternated between loud and silent, but Kurohito was stunned at the first knock, accidentally dropping a stack of doc.u.ments on the floor. Bewildered, he quickly looked towards the door and cleared his throat, later saying with a darker voice
"C-come in!"
The request didn't go unnoticed and soon enough, two people opened the door and came in. The middle-aged man with a pony-tail was now in a much more casual outfit, donning casual blue jeans, a white t-s.h.i.+rt, and a s.h.i.+rt on top in a calm red colour. He quickly took off his all-black sungla.s.ses as he entered the room. The other person, at a young age of 14, was also wearing more casual clothes, contrasting his usual uniform. He was wearing a reflection of that week's fas.h.i.+on trends, with more expensive brands being worn and proudly displayed for the world to see. He shook his head to the side as he entered the room, to get his wavy, long silver hair out of eye's way. But he remembered to limit his movements somewhat to look more calm, in order to pay proper respects.
Kurohito, being in a slightly panicked state, a state that was provided to him through clumsiness of dropping his doc.u.ments, looked over quickly at the two persons with a faint smile. Takuchu introduced the reason they were there
"We have come here, the day after operation PPP, to report its result."
Kurohito nodded slowly and said
"Great, please go on"
But only half of his mind was present, as he was mildly panicking about those doc.u.ments. They seemed to be mostly covered behind the desk, but he was fearing that some of the further-most papers were visible from that door. If they were seen, that would be major trouble for Kurohito, as he thought that that would make him be seen as a lousy and bad boss. The potential loss of respect disturbed him, as it may not have been the most important thing to him, it still meant something to him.
Takuchu nodded affirmatively and went on
"I wish to report that our execution of the plan and the result it brought about was mixed. Your plan of using a club member to draw that boy's attention worked to an extent. Before I go into detail, I would like to point out a slight flaw in your plan that I told you about before as well. Except for Kenjiro, that plan also managed to drag along what-seemed-to-be the whole club."
Takuchu made eye contact with Kurohito, who stared back at him for a moment. Satos.h.i.+'s attempt at silently announcing his dissatisfaction with Kurohito's mannerisms through eye-contact failed as he stared at an uncaring face facing another direction.
Kurohito voiced a slight grunt and said
"I see. I will take that into consideration for future endeavors, but I barely recall hearing those concerns for you. So I wish for you to be much clearer with that in the future, understand?"
Takuchu raised his fist to his chest and clearly said
"Yessir!"
He then turned his fist towards Satos.h.i.+ and said
"Alright, Satos.h.i.+, please continue our report."
Satos.h.i.+ casually wiped a couple of sweat drops on his forehead, despite being nervous on the inside with him being present in front of Kurohito and all. He gulped slightly before starting to speak
"So, Plan Power Purge---"
He was immediately interrupted by Takuchu who said
"Codename"
Satos.h.i.+ realized his mistake, and made an angry look at Takuchu before continuing
"Sorry, I meant to say operation PPP."
Kurohito quickly commented
"It's fine, please continue"
He heeded the request and said
"The reason for operation PPP having a mixed execution was a large part because of Kenjiro. We expected him to put up resistance, but he was really strong and managed to do a real number on us. At first, it seemed like we were going to get an easy victory, but something lit a spark in him and he went all out. We were just about to finish him up as the second reason we failed came in, Kori and Biharu. Instead of helping us, those G.o.d d.a.m.n idiots-----"

He was once again interrupted by Takuchu, who commented
"Language"
Satos.h.i.+ looked a lot more visibly upset that time and clenched his fists while saying
"Sorry, I got ahead of myself.
Those guys didn't help us in the battle, which was going to be against the other club members, instead, they went straight home----"
He was interrupted with
"Learn to take responsibility for your missions"
Almost instinctively, Satos.h.i.+ responded
"Sorry, I will----
Wait!
That one was completely different! You aren't commenting on my formal performance anymore!
Don't make it personal!"
Satos.h.i.+ cleared his throat whilst staring angrily at the grinning 38-year old. He then said
"Anyways, they went home and we were forced to meet the remaining force. Although we managed to incapacitate Kenjiro, we also sustained damage and I, at least, am just barely capable of normal functioning."
Kurohito nodded slowly as he commented
"I see, well, good job. Even though you got a bit damaged, you managed to complete the mission."
Takuchu lit up slightly as he quickly added
"So our salaries will…!?"
He was silently kicked by Satos.h.i.+, who did it to show dissatisfaction and to get slight payback. As Takuchu hunched over slightly, Kurohito said
"I think I can give you both a slight raise because of this, but I can't give you too much..."
Both Takuchu's and Satos.h.i.+'s eyes were drawn towards Kurohito simultaneously, as they suspected a continuation. Kurohito delivered, and said
"Since there'll be a very large bonus waiting for you and the other power-employees after the following mission is over. My final plan is underway, and what is waiting for us after that is something truly special."
Their attention had been grabbed, and Satos.h.i.+ quietly commented
"Final plan…?"
*PULL*
Without a knock being sounded, and a reaction to follow, the door opened up.
The person who'd pulled the door handle was a tall, large, bowl haircut-having and clean clothes-wearing man who carelessly entered the room.
Behind him was a man with luscious blond hair and a conventionally attractive face that resided next to it, which had faint bags under the eyes.
Kori Hanesawa and Biharu Takeda had entered the room with explosive energy.
