I sat on the wall of the coven, simply reading the book in my hands when something within me gave me a sharp pain. A gasp left my lips as I dropped my book and clutched my stomach trying to figure out what it was.

"Faye!" Zavier shouted, looking around for me while I waved my hand and caught his attention. This was the one time that I was grateful for him being around me all day.

"Zavier. Something bad happened. I feel it-"

"I feel it too. It must be one of our pack members being attacked." He told me and cradled me as I shook my head and concentrated on the pain.

"No... Not just a pack member. A mage as well. I feel them using their energy. They are close by I have to go and help." I plead while he nodded and collected me.

"Point in the direction, mate." He orders when I hurriedly pointed to the left and watched as he rushed me to the direction. The feeling of the mage using his powers with all his strength hurting my body more than I expected as a large gust of power radiated.

"Faye! I'm coming with you too!" Seria yells, dropping everything she was doing and hurrying to follow Zavier. All three of us hurrying to aid our fellow mage.

"Propellit!" A man yells, the force of his power causing Zavier and Seria to stumble back but push forward quicker.

I jumped out of Zavier's arms once I saw the a.s.sa.s.sins trying to attack the young mage and cast a s.h.i.+eld around the mage and threw a gust of fire at them. Seria did the same thing and started separating the a.s.sa.s.sins apart so it was easy to kill them off in pairs.

Zavier dashed for the mage and collected him before the poor kid could hit the ground. Our eyes connected for a split second when I nodded to him and threw electricity at the a.s.sa.s.sin getting closer to the guys.

"Thank you. Nava and I were out and some a.s.sa.s.sins poisoned us. She said it was wolf's bane but didn't specify." I inform them as the man snarled under his breath.

"Relax. He'll be fine with a little bit of healing. Your wolf will not if we don't go and help her." Archmage Seria cut her off earning a sharp look from Faye and a small growl from the man beside me.

"Fine, but I have a bad feeling about this." Faye grits out and looked at the man beside me. "Zavier, could you go and get Ajax? I'd like him to be with me when we face the a.s.sa.s.sins." She asks the man with a small smile as he nodded and pressed a kiss to her head.

"Yeah. Don't leave. I'm gonna also get him and Alex. Stay." He pressed a few more kisses on Faye making her laugh and watch him run off.

"Okay. Let's go." Faye nods to Archmage Seria and motioned me to go.

"Oh, that? Don't worry about that." She waves at her disappearing mate and smiled happily. "I don't like him seeing me murder a.s.sa.s.sins in cold blood. Plus, we are more than capable to take care of each other." Faye a.s.sures me, but she didn't need to convince me.

His footsteps quickly escaped from my hearing settling my racing muscles while I narrowed my eyes at the shocked a.s.sa.s.sins standing in front of me.

A dark snarl left my lips when the main man frowned deeply at me and opened the cage. I stood in a defensive stance, knowing that I was too weak to fight back but I was d.a.m.n sure ready to give it my all.

"Didn't I say not to do that? Must you be so difficult?" He sighs when I bared my teeth and lunged towards him. He reached out to me but I changed direction and latched on his leg making him shout in surprise.

I clenched my teeth tighter around his legs as he tried throwing me off his leg but it proved to be a lot more difficult. The other a.s.sa.s.sins started filling the cell while trying to remove me off his leg.

Before any of them realized what happened, I dove out of the cage and quickly s.h.i.+fted back. My hands gripped the bars of the cell door and slammed it shut in front of the a.s.sa.s.sins. All seven of them staring at me with mock shock, a grin rising on my lips.

"Dumb a.s.ses." I sneer and quickly s.h.i.+fted back, the pain of the wolf's bane coursing through my blood causing me to move more slowly than before. I was quick though, I didn't want to fail my Alpha and not warn him about the threats that his mate was enduring.

An a.s.sa.s.sin came from the cell beside me, letting out a fearful yelp at the side of my wolf form barreling into him. My canines were quick to sink into his throat when there was a soft cry making me release him with an inch of life.

I noticed a small fragile girl clutching to the tunic on her chest tightly, bruises on her eye and upper arms causing a growl to rumble through my throat. The sound frightened her even more immediately my instincts kicked in as I lowered my head and brushed into the cell.

My vision was starting to darken as I heard gasps of bewilderment and a few screams erupting. I couldn't bring myself to get up this time though, my failure causing my whole body to strum with defeat and misery when my body was lifted off the ground.

"Get Xenon and the little girl. They're going to be returning to the compound with us." The a.s.sa.s.sin says in a stern voice.

"What about the other two mages? Do we finish them off?" Another person questions as I stirred and tried to get off the rough shoulder that was stabbing into my injured ribs.

There were quiet footsteps towards my direction before a cold finger forced me to look up and stare into the dark eyes from before. His dangerous smile back on his s.a.d.i.s.tic face.

"What should we do, Nava? Put them out of their misery or let them die slowly?" The a.s.sa.s.sin questions me, our face so close to each other while my head throbbed in pain. Without much thought, I slammed my face into his making me yelp and stumble away.

My head throbbed with even more pain, but the pleasure of hitting him once again went through my veins with a victory. Even if we lost the battle, I got the last hit.

"Fiesty. Fine. We'll let them die slowly and miserably. You will be the reason for their final moments being in incredible pain." The a.s.sa.s.sin sneers when I smiled against the pain.

It is us I am more worried about.
