Never Again 5 Dream Of A Day Long Ago

Outside, stars could be seen glittering beautifully with the occasional cool wind entering through an open window. Moonlight streamed lightly into the dark room, revealing the scrunched up face of Qiu Zhi as he laid on his bed in confusion.

How did he, Qiu Zhi, meet such a queer girl?

Pretty, but unruly. Beautiful, but strong. Unlike the delicate flowers he grew up with, she was more like a rose with thorns. Independent, and confident. But blunt and straightforward in her actions.

And to think she was a corpse not too long ago, she's not so simple. Maybe, she is two-faced just like them.

Thinking that far, his eyes suddenly narrowed.

Did they already find out where he is? Therefore sent her? ... If that's true, then she'll be a corpse for good this time.

But why did they send him a corpse? He's certain that she wasn't alive. Then how did she revive? He never heard of anything capable of doing so.

Chuckling quietly, he can't help but admit that, Xi Rin sure is interesting.

Whether or not she's working for them, he'll have plenty of time to figure out. After all... it's been a long time since he had any fun.

While on the other side, Xi Rin was lying in bed, depressed.

Remembering something suddenly, she suddenly checked her pulse and body's condition. Only if it was like the novels, Xi Rin would be poisoned by her evil step-sister or something, therefore causing her being unable to cultivate. But reality truly is different from the novels. There was nothing wrong with her body. She was perfectly healthy.

It looks like this body truly can't cultivate.

Sighing, she felt a headache coming from the back of her head. This really sucks. She had reincarnated into a world of magic but is unable to use magic at all. It was like putting food in front of a beggar, but he is not able to eat it. Completely unfair!

So, she lied down on the straw bed and decided to go to sleep. Although she tossed and turned for a good hour, she finally fell asleep.

That night, she saw a memory of a day long ago.

Two children sat side by side staring out at the sea. Both were quiet, admiring the sunset.

"To be honest, I hate the name, 'Rena'." The girl said quietly to the boy. While the boy was confused at the sudden change. "Such a half-a.s.sed name... and I don't want anything related to that woman."

Such a horrible woman. The girl gritted her teeth at the memory of her abusive, horrible 'mother'. If she was an unwanted child, then that woman shouldn't have given birth to her in the first place. Yet, she gave birth to her anyways. Birthed to only be abused, hungry, and hurt. It really was a wonder how she had managed to live till now.

Sighing, the boy raised his hand to flatten the deep creases on the girl's face. "Frowning is not good for your face... since you hate her so much, how come you never do anything about it?"

"Even if she's a b.a.s.t.a.r.d, she is the one who birthed and raised me after all." , the girl said bitterly.

Ruffling his hair, the boy stared off into s.p.a.ce. Her past, he knew very well. Although his own life isn't very happy either, her's was much harsher. Nonetheless, he was, all the more worried, she was the only thing that mattered to him. The only one he has. But even now, he can't do anything to help. He's utterly useless, isn't he?

So he does the only thing he can think of, "Then... how about, Rin?" She just gave him a confused look.

"Do you like that name?"

"Dignified, Rin... I like it."

"Then, Rin, from now on, that is your name,", he said.

And with a ghost of a smile playing on the boy's face, the girl replied with one of her own.
