Floor 52nd, Shadow Cathedral.

"Rraahh!" With a shout, Hugo bashes his Heavy hammer against the head of three skeletons.

"O flame, bring down your wrath and turn my enemies into ashes, firestorm!" Marcus spells rage around the group, reducing numerous undead into ashes.

"Hugo stops being reckless, Marcus don't use big spells and conserve your mana, Neivy take out those d.a.m.n mages!" Giving out command, Leo never ceases from throwing flasks or beating any undead nearby.

"Got it, piercing shot!" True to it's name, the skill skewered through many of the dead and reaches the shadow acolyte at the back.

Among a sea of moving bones and corpses, a party of four are struggling. They burn, bash, or crush any undead or cultist they could as they advance forward but all they defeat would soon rise and join the struggle once more. Giving them no time to catch their breaths.

"Hey Leo, if we compare the previous floors, we're not even halfway, are we? Can we just turn back, this is getting too much for our old bones and if we can't handle these who can say what a low leveled apprentice can do?" Hugo said as he kicks a zombie back, cras.h.i.+ng it into a bunch of its comrades.

"I have to agree with him Leo, face it, the kid must be dead by now even if he survived the fall. Let's just retreat and count our spoils." Neivy said, launching flaming arrows into the crowd.

"...." Although Marcus stayed silent and prepare his spell, Leo could see that he is in agreement with rest.

"If all of you can't handle it anymore, I won't hold it against you even if you leave but I will not give up on finding him." Throwing a few flasks, he blew up a large group of undead before turning to his comrades.

"With or without help, I will continue forward from this point and i will not turn back until I confirm his condition myself." He said with a resolute voice then charge back into the fray.

There were some hesitation in their face but as they keep reducing the numbers upon them, Hugo was the first to make a decision.

"I'm sorry Leo, I'll see you on top." With that, he pulls out a clear blue crystal and crush it, His figure then covered in neon blue light before disappearing.

It is the effect of a return crystal, it will return you to the gate of the nearest town.

Following him, Neivy left some words before using his own crystal.

"Aren't you going to leave as well?" He questions Marcus, seeing the man did not take out his crystal.

"Hmph, I agree with them but I won't leave you, even if you are strong going against this many undead is suicidal without support." Scoffing he deployed a fire wall, separating them from the dead.

"Heh, you got me on that one."

After taking care of the last threat on their side, the two took a short break and have some lunch. During that time, most of the undead keep charging into the fire only to be reduced into ashes, only the cultist stayed at the back and rest themselves.

"Once we have enough rest, we'll head out but remember to be more careful as there is only two of us now." Start Leo.

"Hey, is your apprentice a boy with messy brown hair and wearing your school uniform?" He asked.

"Well he already changed clothes but yeah, he did have that with him and that is his hair color, how'd you know?" Surprised with the unexpected question, he looks up from his tools only to see Marcus pointing towards the fire wall or more precisely, what's beyond it.

At the far distant, a boy with messy brown hair and black eyes stood next to a girl with silver long hair and silvery gray eyes. Both illuminated by 3 b.a.l.l.s of magelight and taking down undead with ease.

Once they got closer, he could clearly see the boy using his academy uniform while the girl wear the academy training uniform that is covered by some kind of glossy white substance. He could also clearly see the boy's face then, and he recognizes him.

.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..

55th, 54th, 53rd, 52nd... the climb through the dungeon are pretty easy now, besides their scary looks, the undead are basically nothing. They also seem to give a lot of Rewrite points after being defeated, which is honestly the biggest boon out from them.

Other than doing daily quest, all he could do is talked with Val, poke the slime, or punching undead. All in all, his days are filled with boredom in these dark and cold stone corridor.

There are what seem like a catacomb back in 54th floor but even after exhausting the undead living there his soul damage only reduce till 25%.

The amount he need to heal just one percent increase by a disgusting amount by each percentage that he is starting to consider letting it be and saving the points for upgrades.

That also brought worries to him, he could farm points in dungeon because they will keep sp.a.w.n monsters and no one will miss them. But out there, he can't hunt everything to the point of extinction if he wants nature to work normally or hide his presence.

Why hide one might ask, well he has only gone for what? A year and 3 months? If he thinks about it, his explosive increase in statuses are utterly ridiculous it's just broken. If normal people he knew caught sight of it then he will need to prepare a c.u.mbersome explanation for it, this then also rule out meeting with his teacher or returning to town.

Nodding to himself, he decides once he got out of the dungeon he will immediately head over to the next town and becomes an adventurer and also join the alchemist guild just, so he can get the permit for most of the materials he has.

"Fei Fei, there are signs of life ahead." Said Valerie, drawing him out of his thoughts.

Looking ahead, he couldn't see anything besides a horde of undead, but he will believe it when Val says she found life signs. After all, she had used the system to add some abilities to her eyes.

He doesn't know what the full extent of the ability however as she would always say it's a secret of he asked.

Charging forward, they cut through the horde like hot knife through b.u.t.ter. It was easy and smooth without any waste in their movements.

Soon he could see light coming ahead from what seem to be wall made out of fire, he wondered what creature he will meet.

His expectations are quickly shattered however as he heard the shout of a familiar voice.

"You d.a.m.ned brat, come over here!"

He almost tripped as he barely caught Val's hand before she could launch herself to the source of the voice. She even generates a thick feeling of bloodl.u.s.t, the last time she does this was when she read the villain badmouthing the protagonist in a book she read.

He guesses such straight forward books aren't a good material for her to learn how to differentiate the use of such language.

Ignoring the undead, we made our way over the fire wall and land a bit of a distance from two old man. Val stood beside me with a calm expression after I tell her the difference through our link.

One of the old man, a lion beastkin with silver hair whom he recognizes as my teacher approach and lift him off the ground then hug him for a brief moment.

"Hahaha I always knew you are alive kid, you really make this old man worried when you didn't return that night." Mr. Leo said, his voice filled with joy.

"Ehem" clearing his throat, the other old man dressed in red robe embroidered with gold lines come forward and speak.

"Won't you introduce me now that we've found your apprentice?" He said with his gaze fixed at me and Val. For some reason his gaze made me feel uncomfortable, like he is looking right through me.

"Ah yeah, this here is my apprentice Vayne, as for the young miss.. Vayne, who is she?" He said after he let me down.

"She's Valerie, she fell down with me." He lied.

"I can see why you boast so much about your apprentice now seeing his status and level, good catch Leon." The man he now a.s.sumes a wizard with his outfit, said to Leo.

"Yeah, he's a great catch, especially with the talent he has for alchemy." Leon answered with a big grin.

"Now young man, how did you survive your fall?" With his question, Vayne flinch a bit and look up to Mr. Leo.

"That would be due to a life saving item I gave him, that thing is also supposed to hide his status but oh well, what's done is done." Leo said and the wizard seem to believe him.

"If you say so then it must be true, you have too many strange items in your inventory after all." The wizard said, but those words confirm some thought he had, inventory does exist for other people.

"Teacher, how big is your inventory?" Vayne ask innocently.

"Hm? Oh, mine have 200 slots caps for now."

"Is there any restrictions for it, like weight and how many slots one item takes?"

"As far as I know the restrictions are all the same, you can't put living creature as well as liquid or air in it. as for how many, all items only take one slots. Shouldn't you know after getting that small inventory bag from lady Emilia?"

"Ah no, I still can't figure out how to use it, I buried it along with my other item before entering the dungeon."

"Ah i see, guess I'll teach ya that after we got to the surface." Saying that, he turns to talk with the other man about something, but he no longer pays it any attention.

The inventory system is different? And what inventory bag is he talking about, is it that small bag?

He kept thinking while Val pet her slime quietly until Leo call out to him.

"Here catch" throwing a blue crystal at him and Val, they both caught it before examining it.

"What is this teacher?" He asks for the sake of formality.

"That is a return crystal, it will return you to the gate of the nearest town." A slight gleam run through Vayne eyes when he heard that contradiction, but he had to act on it later at his teacher urge. "Hurry up and use it, I'll catch up after you got out."

Without hesitation, which to the adults look like eagerness, he and Val crush the crystal, and they quickly got engulfed by light and soon the stone corridor in their sight melt into the front gate of the Crafters city.

The whole process was smooth and painless but it felt a bit nauseating, and he had to lay down for a bit.

Soon two more light s.h.i.+nes and his teacher along with the wizard appears.

"Welcome back, my dear student."
