Zylvia walked beside her husband as he led her through the castle's corridors. She had no idea where they were going. Even though she had been coming and going since her best friend had married the king she did not know her way completely around the castle.

"What are your plans for today?" Kaldrek asked her.

"Of course I will keep the queen company." Zylvia smiled and then glibly continued, "Isn't that why I married you?"

Kaldrek chuckled, "Yes, I do believe that was the reason."

She glanced around, "Where are we anyway? And where are we going?"

"We are in one of the castle's many corridors that lead too the dining hall. I figured that you would want breakfast."

"You know me so well."

"Oh? And here I thought that your eating habits were well known."

"And pray tell me, what exactly is said about my eating habits?"

"Hmmm... I am not sure people really talk about it. But you don't really hide how you feel about food."

"I am not a glutton!"

"Did I say you were?"

"Kaldrek! You can be so annoying sometimes." Zylvia glared at him.

"I don't think you have the eating habits of a glutton." Kaldrek smiled at her, "I think you use a lot of energy in a day thereby making you eat more than some people might."

Zylvia didn't answer him and would have walked away if it wasn't for the fact that she would get hopelessly lost without him right now. She was feeling rather annoyed with him right now. The way he had of responding to indignant statements with a question was highly annoying. If he implied something it didn't matter if he didn't actually say it.

They were still silent when they reached the dining hall. As soon as she saw where there was a table set with breakfast items she made a beeline for it. She took from it a piece of ham, toast and a hard boiled egg, and went to sit down at the table.

"Is that all you are eating?" Kaldrek questioned as he sat beside her. He had actually taken a bit more food than her this morning.

"It's what I feel like," Zylvia didn't even glance at him.

"Are you mad at me?" His voice cane out rather quietly.

She glanced at him sideways through narrowed eyes, and gave a sharp nod.

"I didn't mean anything by what I said. Please forgive me."

She turned away from him and bit savagely into her toast. The crunch of it in her teeth helped alleviate some of her annoyance at the man sitting next to her.

It wasn't until she finished her toast that she looked back at him. He as eating quietly with a worried expression between his eyebrows. Looking at how worried he was about her being upset at him made her want to laugh and she finally relented.

"Alright, I'll forgive you."

Kaldrek looked at her blankly for a moment and then a smile brightened up his face, "Really? I was starting to get a bit worried that you were going to give me the silent treatment."

"I was considering it." Zylvia shrugged, "But Fayre would get onto me if I did that."

"I'm glad you didn't," He said softly. "I enjoy talking with you. I am sorry if I sometimes go too far with my teasing. I don't actually have that many people I talk to on a regular basis, so I don't always know how much is too much." A sheepish expression spread across his face as he said this.

Zylvia smiled at him as she felt a jolt of joy spread through her. She was happy that he considered her as a close friend and felt comfortable enough with her both to tease her and to admit his shortcomings.

"Alright," She laughed. "I can try to be a little patient with you, though I will probably still get mad if you hurt my feelings. But I will forgive you...eventually."

"I guess I will have to take that then. It's all I could really ask you to do."

As they continued eating, they fell into a more comfortable silence, and Zylvia found herself enjoying the companions.h.i.+p. 'Marrying him was'nt the worst thing in the world,' She found herself thinking. 'At least we can talk together civilly, at least most of the time. And when we do fight we can talk it out and admit our faults. That was much better than it could have been. And I get to see all my closest friends. Of the two of us, I really do get the better deal. I mean what does Kaldrek even get out of this? Marriage to a girl he doesn't even love? And no real benefits for it either.' She sighed from the melancholy thoughts.

"Everything okay?" Kaldrek asked.

"Hmmm... Yeah," She shook her head to clear it and smiled at him. "Just thinking. What am I supposed to do with my plate now that I am done with it?"

"You put it in that cart over there." He took it from her, "Here, I'll take care of it for you."

She stood up as her dealt with the dirty dishes and stretched.

"Do you need any help finding the queen?"

"Yes. Can you help me find a place I recognize?"

Kaldrek led her from the dining room until they reached the front of the castle, "This do?"

"Perfect. Thank you."

They parted ways, and Zylvia headed towards the room the queen used for sowing. Fayre loved sowing so there was a fairly good chance of finding her there.
