"No need to be scared, its just..." Kaldrek paused, "Well, something I feel I need to tell you."
She felt her heart rate accelerate. She could not help but hope that he was going to tell her that he was in love with her. As her excitement grew he winced.
"Zylv....calm down a little okay?" He stroked her hair, "I need to be coherent."
She was not sure what he meant so she just stared at him, "Alright, what is it, then?"
He s.h.i.+fted a bit uncomfortably, "Zylv...you need to learn control."
"What?" She felt confused, control in what?
He took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, "You have magic, my dear, and its all over the place."
Zylvia's mind went blank. She, what? Magic? Her? But, she was just an ordinary girl, right? "That isn't funny." She mumbled, turning away from him. What sort of teasing was this?
"You don't believe me?" Her husband's hand brushed down her long hair, his other arm went about her waist as he pulled her against him, "Do you want me to show you?" His voice was right in her ear.
"How would you do that?"
"There is some different ways," He smiled at her as he kissed her softly, "Close your eyes."
She obeyed her husband. "Now take a deep breath and focus outward."
As she did so he was murmuring some arcane words beside her ear and she grew aware of something that shocked her. All around them was some kind of almost palpable energy. It was magic, it seemed like a lot to her, "Is that?" Her voice came out as a whisper. She could see how it seemed to center on her body.
"Uh-huh, so you believe me now?"
"Is it supposed to do that?" She opened her eyes so she could peer at her husband.
"Well, yes and no," He smiled at her, "Usually not, but it is not uncommon for an untrained sorcerer or in your case sorceress."
Zylvia knew that there was different types of sorcerers and so she found herself curious what her bloodline was. When she asked her husband though he seemed unsure of how to answer and told her that he was not sure what her bloodline was.
"You have no idea?"
"I really only know that your specialty appears to be enchantment." He seemed a little frustrated about this, not the enchantment part but the not knowing.
"Really?" She tilted her head to the side, "How do you know that, then?"
"Well, you did use magic on me the other day when we..."A blush went up his face and he glanced away, "You know." Zylvia found it cute when her husband got bashful, but what he had just said made her pause, she had what?
Did that mean he had not wanted to but that she had forced him to? She drew away from him and frowned, "Then, I should apologize."
"Zylv..." He laughed, "Don't feel down about it, even though I totally plan on teasing you for the rest of our lives, I don't see any need to apologize."
"But I-"
"I could have resisted, if I really wanted to," He looked at her tenderly, "I did not mind your influence."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes...this morning I was not under any spell of yours, you know." He paused, "Zylv, you can practice your magic on me if you would like, I would be okay with that."
She took a deep breath. It was true, Kaldrek had studied magic for so long he could easily block a spell from a girl with no training if he wanted to. But he had not. Was it because she was his wife? Whatever his reason though she was getting the feeling he might have actually enjoyed it.
