A bright smile flashed on her face in response to his actions, "Thanks Kaldrek." She happily began eating her food, realizing as she did so that her husband seemed to know exactly which food to get her. A warm feeling settled inside of her that he must have been paying attention to her food preferences.
"No problem, Zylv." He grinned at her, "I enjoy watching you eat."
A frown caught her mouth as she looked down. She felt dejected, what did that sentence even mean? Sometimes Kaldrek was really hard to understand.
A touch against her cheek made her look at him. His lips brushed against hers softly, "Don't over think it. I only meant I like seeing you happy." A gentle smile curved up his lips.
His words instantly made her feel better. She went back to happily eating. As she did so she entwined the fingers of her right hand with his left. While it made it a bit awkward to eat, the grin on Kaldrek's face made it worth it.
After finis.h.i.+ng eating and when she was preparing to leave, her husband suddenly hugged her from behind, "Have fun, Zylv. I...we all care about you very deeply. So, don't worry about anything, okay?"
She turned in his arms and gave him a brilliant smile, "Thank you, my lord. And I know."
He leaned down and kissed her. She was starting to get the impression that he was as addicted to their kisses as she was, or getting there anyway. "I'll see you later tonight, Zylv."
She nodded, "You probably need to work, huh?"
"Mhmm." He pulled away from her and opened the door for her. She gave him a peck on the cheek before leaving.
Fayre was waiting for her when she entered the room. A bright smile was on the young queen's face. "Yay! You are finally up!"
Zylvia felt rather embarra.s.sed because she and Kaldrek had spent quite a bit of time just trying to make babies this morning. She couldn't exactly say that though, "Uh-huh. Kaldrek worked late into the night so I didn't want to accidentally wake him." It was true after all, even if it wasn't the real reason for them staying in their room so late.
Fayre laughed softly, "What a good little wife you are!" There was a teasing note to her voice, "Showing concern for your husband."
"He is my friend, I don't really want him collapsing from exhaustion." Zylvia gave one of her usual responses to Fayre's teasing. She had always been kinda private about her feelings and had no idea how to tell Fayre about the change in her and Kaldrek's relations.h.i.+p.
"So, how are you finding being married, anyway?" Her best friend leaned forward and put down her st.i.tching.
"Uhhh...." Unsure of what to say, Zylvia finally murmured, "It's okay."
" 'It's okay'? Really Zylv?" Fayre shook her head, "I wonder how Kaldrek would feel if he heard you say that."
"What do you mean?" A confused look settled on Zylvia's brow.
"Just, I'm pretty sure your husband doesn't just think of you as a friend, no matter how much he denies it." Fayre c.o.c.ked an eyebrow at her, "After all, last night he was rather concerned about you. To the point it truly looked like a man with a crush."
Zylvia felt her cheeks reddening, he had treated her with such concern last night. Just thinking about it made her heart warm. "Fayre, I-"
She was interrupted by the door opening. Hazel came in with a broad smile on her face. The princess looked a lot happier than the last time Zylvia saw her.
"Oh, Hazel, did you talk to him?" Both of them looked at the girl with concern. After all the last time they saw her she had been on the verge of tears.
Hazel's smile faltered as she nodded, "Yeah..."
"Is something the matter?" Zylvia felt some concern for the girl.
"Well," Hazel looked at her hands, and then shook her head, "I was wondering if either one of you could give me some advice." The sudden request came out in a rush.
A kind look came onto the queen's face. "Of course. About what?"
"Love." Hazel fidgeted, "There's a guy I've kinda admired for years but he doesn't feel the same way. He doesn't actually have any girls in his eyes though so I was wondering if there is any way to get him to notice me." A blush stained her cheeks.
"Well, what's his personality like? What does he like? Does he have any prior girls you can look at?" Fayre seemed excited. She had always been a romantic though, Zylvia mused.
"...You're talking about Sir Asrar, right?" Zylvia looked at the girl with a smile.
Her blush deepened, "How..?"
"Seriously? It came to your mind right after he was mentioned."
"Alright, yes, and no he has never really been interested in romance. If he dared look at another girl I would...well I don't really know what I'd do. I just...barely even care that he is a sorcerer....I'm more upset that he kept it to himself all these years."
So she knew then? "Well, I am honestly not the best person to ask for advice on such matters. As Fayre has already told you, I did after all never tell anyone I even had a crush."
Fayre nodded, "Though you did give me fairly decent advice when I fell in love."
"Anyone could give you advice, it was obvious that the two of you were completely in love. To the point that Kaldrek and I used to laugh about it."
"I didn't know that..."
"The two of you were often in your own little world during that time."
Hazel started giggling at them. "So any advice for me?"
"Well, you can't really force him to love you back. Xi'eli knows that if one could force someone to love, we would have forced Kaldrek and Zylvia together a long time ago." Continuing a bit more seriously, "You have a bit of a pickle here. You come from Amriel, and are even its princess. Yet the man you want is a sorcerer. Which he can't really change, yet that alone makes it rather hard. Even if he did care about you the same way, it would be practically suicide for him to be in a relations.h.i.+p with you."
Hazel sighed, "Yet I can't just accept that."
Zylvia pitied the young girl. After all she knew what it was like to pine for love. "Well, I wouldn't say it's completely hopeless. He obviously doesn't have much regard for his life in the first place. After all he has stayed in Amriel despite being a sorcerer. And he obviously cares about you a little. I would suggest showing him that you are sincere."
