"That was scary, wasn't it, Nala." Seth patted the head of the little girl who had her face covered throughout the entire brawl.

Even now, she was still looking down while trembling slightly. After all, those b.l.o.o.d.y corpses are still here. All she would have to do is turn her head up, and she would be able to see, enough artwork to give her nightmares for the following few months.

In Nala's hands is a blank-looking Gelard. She held him tightly as if he were her moral support, or rather, as if he were a plush toy.

But there was no hope in the blue striped kitty's eyes... for he had saw Seth looking his way.

The boy and kitty did not need to speak any words. They could communicate through their gazes alone.

"Kitty, you're getting it (punishment) later!"

"Kitty is innocent! Kitty is... Kitty is..."

The fact that Nala was able to grab Gelard, showed that she was able to see him. That was something that would only happen if Gelard allowed it. Seth didn't know before that Gelard had revealed himself to Nala. Now, he could only imagine what information the little rascal could have revealed to her.

It seems, an interrogation is in order.

But for now, he'll just let Nala keep using the kitty as a plush toy. It looks like she'll need it.

Though honestly, Seth had worried a little bit too much. After a good night's sleep, Nala would have seemed to have forgotten about that b.l.o.o.d.y incident, and would be showing off the many new clothes and pretty dresses that she had Seth buy for her to her mother.

As for the situation right now? It caused Seth to sigh. "That (those bandits) completely ruined the atmosphere. There's no way I could win over a girl's heart in a place like this."

The cafe has been thrashed, and the air smells like blood and guts. If a guy were to ever bring a girl to a place like this for a date, he would surely be dumped immediately.

"Then, miss Irene, till we meet again." With a wave, he called his guards to leave. Considering the girl's surname, there was a good chance that they will meet again. Although, whether the circ.u.mstances will be good or bad during their next meeting would be up to fate.

"...Wait."

Just as Seth was pulling Nala along with him towards the exit of the restaurant, a small voice called out to him.

Irene Bilin was looking at him enthusiastically, with glittering eyes.

"During this time of day, you can find me at this restaurant, or at the Shattered Ice Café. But I don't like going out on rainy or cloudy days, so don't look for me then."

Having turned around, Seth blinked in surprise.

"Eh? Did my flirtation skills work after all? Why the belated reaction? (She didn't react at all before)"

"*Giggle* No, your flirting was simply an annoyance."

Hearing that, Seth became downcast.

"And you've clearly brought another girl with you. She was glaring at me like I was trying to steal away her husband. ...But, your manner when you were getting rid of those villains was really stylish. It was cool." Irene said happily as she clapped her hands.

Seth recovered. He nodded. "Then I should beat people up more often. Ah, won't more idiotic cannon fodder come to act as my foil while I show off my magnificence to a pretty girl…"

Normally, if Irene heard such a line, she would think the speaker to be annoyingly conceited, but maybe because this boy seems kind of foolish, with this foolishness contrasting amusingly with the coolness from before, it instead caused her to laugh.

"You are too honest."

"Yes, and you are too beautiful. Ouch! Nala, why did you kick me?" Seth rubbed his s.h.i.+n which had just been kicked. Building a harem where the girls are perfectly fine with sharing their man is no easy task...

After Seth, Irene, and the others left, some debris began falling off the hole that was made in the cafe wall. There was something in that hole that was beginning to move.

Thuck, who was shot into a wall with a dog, had never loved dogs as much as he did today.

He had been knocked unconscious when he had been hit with the dog earlier on. But it did not take long for him to wake up. After all, the hobo did not have any killing intent in his attacks, and Thuck is a cultivator near the peak of the unforgiving mortality stage, with a fairly durable body.

Unfortunately, or perhaps it was fortunate that, when he woke up, what entered his eyes was a scene of h.e.l.l.

His fellow bandits, his sworn brothers, were getting sliced into pieces by that little devil, whose hands had been painted red with blood.

They tried to escape, but they failed. Instead, they ran into another monster of a man who would plant them into the ground.

Thuck did not dare to move.

He played dead as he tried to hide as much of his body behind the knocked out dog as possible. This dog was his lifeline!

Thuck swore, that if he were to make it out of this incident today alive, he would keep this dog as his best friend forever.

As it turned out, a bandit's best friend is not his sworn brother, nor is it his chief. It's his dog!

Thuck was able to remain unnoticed all the way until all the threats had left.

Finally, Thuck was able to start moving his body out of the hole.

He carefully made sure not to agitate his best friend's injuries. Although the dog is still alive, one of its hind legs had been dislocated, and its body was terribly bruised.

Thuck carried the dog like a knight would carry his princess as he walked out of the tattered cafe. He had never treated a woman as good as he is currently treating this dog.

What is most important right now, aside from bringing this dog to a clinic, is to inform his superiors in the Wolfing gang about what had happened today, so that soon, they will be able to get revenge for him and his dead pals.

"Daddy, I met a really strong boy outside today." A little girl's sweet voice rang out by the side of a big bed. Unlike when she speaks with people outside, this little girl's voice now sounds less refined, and much more childish.

On the bed, a man was lying down flat on his back, unable to move anything below his chest.

Underneath the blanket, his stomach is covered in bandages, which hid a horrible wound caused by the slash of a saber.

"Is that so, Irene. Tell me about him. If you like him, should daddy arrange to have him married into the family?" Throm Bilin's voice was filled with kindness when he spoke to his youngest daughter. He could tell that his daughter found quite a bit of interest in this boy that she had met.

If his youngest daughter could marry a capable young man that she actually likes, then that would be for the best.

Still, it would have to be a few more years before that could happen. After all, his youngest daughter still isn't mature enough yet.

Knowing the oppressive nature of this world, or rather, the denizens of this world, Throm had always told his sons to get as strong as they could, and his daughters to look for strength in their partners.

This has affected the dispositions of his sons and tastes of his daughters. It caused some of his sons to go out into the world, risking their lives to seek better cultivation opportunities, and some of his daughters to prefer bad boys whom like to flaunt their strength.

Hearing from Irene about how the boy had slaughtered that bunch from the Wolfing gang, Throm only felt impressed. As for the members of the Wolfing gang that their Bilin family is supposedly allied with? If they dared to touch his daughter, then they must die! Throm felt no sympathy for them.

"But don't get mad, daddy. That boy is..."

But when Throm heard who the boy that Irene had taken an interest in was, a complicated frown appeared on his face. To think, that it would be a son of the man that he just had a life and death struggle with.

How unfair the world is...

Throm always felt a sense of jealousy and hate towards that man named Merab Zefer. The two of them were in the same generation, with Throm only a few years younger than the other party. Yet Merab Zefer's talent in cultivation had left him in the dust. Now, even his sons are more superior.

To suppress the other two major families in Haradur city, the Bilin family had to cooperate with an outside force. But honestly, if the Zefer family hadn't went through a deadly bout of internal strife in the past, then the current family oppressing the other two right now would likely be them.

"Irene, you know that the Zefer family is..."

"I know... They're bad people." Irene's head drooped. She became depressed.

Throm sighed. He reached out a hand and tousled his daughter's hair, turning it into a mess. This caused the girl to slap at his hand.

Throm laughed.

At this age, Irene was still quite the naive little girl, the youngest daughter of the eldest son, pampered by all her relatives. She knew nothing about how deadly the feud between the Bilin family and the Zefer family is. She doesn't even know that the reason her father is currently injured is because of a fight with the current head of the Zefer family.

"If one day, we're able to make peace with (subjugate) the Zefer family, I'll have them hand over that son of theirs to you. How about that?" To Throm, so long as they have the help of the Wolfing gang, it would only be a matter of time before they take over the whole of Haradur city.

"Okay!" Hearing what her father said, Irene's face brighten up, as she happily smiled. Then, as if she had just realized something, she quickly followed up with, "But I never said I wanted to marry him!"

Seeing his daughter acting fl.u.s.tered, Throm smiled too. Although inside, he was thinking that it was unfortunate. Now that Seth has killed so many members of the Wolfing gang, they will surely hunt him down. Bandits are not the forgiving type.

He could imagine, that before long, a whole troop of bandits will sneak into the city, just to ambush and kill a little boy. If that boy is lucky, he will get killed in a flash. If he is unlucky, he will get tortured to death...
